Woodsy Catskill Summer House in Merriewold. Merriewold is a private enclave of summer homes dating back to the late 1890's. The house was built in 1931 by John Moody, the financier. The house is in a mature pine forest, surrounded by ferns and mountain laurel.
Merriewold is entirely private, so there is little traffic on its private roads. Many summer residents simply walk or use golf carts to go to the lake or golf course. The house comes with a rowboat and a sailboat for use on Merriewold's large lake. Merriewold also has a 9-hole golf course and clay tennis courts, all of which are free.
