This stone built, listed, pet friendly cottage for 4 people is in the village of Fort Augustus near to the banks of Loch Ness in the Cairngorms National Park and is home to a stretch of the Caledonian canal which heads west to Fort William. This property is a listed cottage building made from stone and in keeping with the cottage style the sitting room has a warming open fire for you to snuggle up by. The whole house is decorated in a modern but welcoming style and there's lots of light flooding into the rooms. There is 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, a generous sized bathroom with both bath and shower, an additional shower room, a modern... kitchen and a cosy dining room. Stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the Great Glen Way are on offer from the windows of this delightful home.

Amenities: Oil central heating with open fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, table-top dishwasher, combi TV/video/DVD player, CD player, radio. Fuel, power and starter pack for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for two cars. Enclosed lawned garden at front of property with garden furniture. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops and pubs 5 minutes’ walk. Note: The stairs in this property are steep and may not be suitable for the infirm.

Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: Fort Augustus has everything you could want in a countryside village. It has a good collection of small shops, lots of delicious places to eat, plenty of pleasant pubs and wide-open views of Loch Ness itself. Other points of interest include the Caledonian Canal which passes right by the village and there's also the Clansman Centre to look round. Top tourist spots like Fort William, Kingussie, Newtonmore and Inverness are all a quick drive away. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  we really enjoyed this lovely little cottage, perfect location, didnt need car unless you wanted to explore further afield. Plenty of walking for the dog, our jack russell enjoyed his walks along the canal, and even had a swim in loch ness.If we were travelling this way again we would certainly consider this cottage.

  Nice little cottage - all what was written in the description is correct - has all what you need - perfect to stay with a dog (garden - several walks starting from the cottage) - and good starting point to explore the region - just do not expect a big kitchen (but has all what it needs)

  Despite the fear that we had rented a shed, when we first pulled up at the rear of the cottage, we were very happy with what was inside.
  On entering the cottage from the back (parking), you enter the tiniest of kitchens. Nevertheless, it has all the equipment you could want (including worktop dishwasher and a washer-dryer) and you're on holiday; not preparing dinner parties!
  The living/dining area is spacious and the downstairs bathroom is lovely - with bath and huge electric shower.
  The stairs are steep (mentioned in owners' spec) but this is not a new-build, it's an old cottage.
  The bedrooms are both very comfortable, well furnished and nicely decorated. The upstairs bathroom is small but again has modern fittings and a nice big shower.
  The front garden on nicely lawned for children to play in safely and there is garden furniture should you be blessed as we were with great weather. It was a shame someone had not quite completed laying the ground-sheeting for the path (a potential hazard just outside the door) but as this was the one negative, we overlooked it. The cottage is literally a minute's walk from the heart of this exquisite litle village: with a flight on locks ending the Caledonian canal and opening out onto Loch Ness itself. We will never forget the views and photographs just don't do it justice.
  A word about the local ammenities: Do a supermarket shop before you get there (the local grocery shops are over-priced and under-stocked). Coming from the South, stop at Fort William and from the North, Inverness - supermarkets are too far away to just 'nip' to.

  Holiday went without a hiccup,all details were as stated in context,super location for exploring this part of the country,Good facilities ,retaurants,in close proximity.Excellent area to walk the dog,cottage met all our expectations,and led to a stress free holiday amongst wonderful surroundings ,would fully recommend to anyone,would put it in my top 5 holidays of all time.First time in Scotland,would like to return to this cottage again in the future.
