Description from the manager
In the picturesque village of Fort Augustus, this listed end-terraced former estate cottage is quietly situated away from the main road yet within 5 minutes walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated retaining the gable windows and original fireplaces to keep the traditional character. Well-maintained, the cottage is warm and welcoming with a homely atmosphere. There is a delightful garden to the front with garden chairs and small portable barbecue.

A great little cottage which is in easy walking distance to all the local amenities within the village.Good enclosed garden for kids and dog to run about in.Bedrooms, which are up the steep set of stairs were comfortable and clean. The kitchen is small but has everything needed to rustle up a meal if you dont wish to eat out locally.Check in was effortless thanks to the local keyholder and the bottle of wine in the fridge was a welcome bonus and a good touch. There have been some comments about decor and although some of the wallpaper looks a bit out of date, the owner has placed new carpets within which are of a modern theme. The dining room is a great day room for the kids and at night the lounge with its cosy fire is a great wee room to unwind with a dram in hand.We really enjoyed our time at the cottage and it was agreat base to explore Fort augustus, Loch Ness and the surrounding country. All in all a great stay in a comfortable cottage which is great value and we will be back.

I spent a week in Fort augustus with my husband and 9 year old daughter and enjoyed a wonderful time. The check-in was easy and the key holder was very friendly and welcoming. The cottage is centrally located in the village and it was easy to wander down to the locks. The cottage itself was well-equipped and, once we had sussed out the heating system, cosy. Extra bed covers and blankets are available for those of us who feel the chill at night. Highly recommend The Bothy, which rapidly became our local during our holiday. Many walks are available from the village - Great Glen Way plus lots on the east banks of Loch Ness. The views are outstanding! Also recommend a visit to Drumnadrochit - highland cow candles, a remote pottery, friendly tearooms, beautiful river walks plus two nessie centres. Our daughter endured the walks but loved the villages. Would definitely go again - in fact looking for our own little but n' ben now ...

We had a great stay at this comfortable cottage. Ample space for our family of 5. Great location for exploring, central to all we wanted in to see. Care taker was wonderful. Thank you for going the extra mile for us. Cottage clean and well kept. Could have used a separate tumble dryer. Would not recommend for people who have trouble with stairs as bedrooms are on second floor accessed by a narrow staircase with 90 degree turn.

Dumfries and GallowayLovely quainty servicable cottage with good amenities around.

Scenery was stunning. Cottage was centrally located within easy reach of all shops, pubs, hotels and the canal. Locals very friendly. The cottage was ample for our needs perhaps just a little dated but with character. Clean and tidy. Very narrow stairs not suitable for anyone with difficulty in walking. The welcoming bottle of wine chilling in fridge was a really nice gesture.

We didn't arrive until 11.45 pm but the caretaker put the kettle on with a cheery smile. the house was clean, beds comfortable. everything we needed for short break. Garden was very pretty and safe for the dog who enjoyed chasing a ball around. No quibbles at all just watch the stairs which were quite steep.
