Description from the owner
We offer you a vacation getaway in the sky – a luxury condo at the very top of the Esplanade, right on the New River, in exciting Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
DOWNTOWN ON THE NEW RIVER – means you are there. Not having to get into your car to “get there”, not “only a mile (or two, or three) to THERE”, but actually being THERE. We have 35 restaurants, night clubs, play houses, historic center, and art museums all within a quarter mile from us – that’s 2 blocks. They are all just an easy short walk away. Or you can take one of our bikes for a pleasant 5 or 10 minute ride to any of them. Walk to the Water Taxi stop just down t...Read more

Additional Location Information
If you are not familiar with the Downtown area of Fort Lauderdale, it is the fastest growing, most vibrant part of the City.
A number of years ago the City Commission decided to re-develop the downtown area as an arts, entertainment and residential living area. A number of studies were done and a master plan developed. The first phase was the building of the “Riverwalk Park” along the north bank of the New River (the main river that runs through the downtown area and has some of the most expensive homes in the City). The Riverwalk Park allows you to walk the river (or ride one of our bikes) and enjoy the activities. The west end of the Park (where we are) starts at the cultural center of Broward County with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and going east passes the Museum of Discovery and IMAX Theater, the Old Ft. Lauderdale Village & Museum and the Museum of Art (one of the few museums in the country to show the King Tut Exhibition). Continuing along the Riverwalk are a number of parks (Huizenga Plaza with its fountain that dances to music is most impressive), the entertainment area along 2nd street, and a number of magnificent new condos. The Riverwalk ends at famous Las Olas Blvd. and its many unusual shops and restaurants (the Rodeo Drive of Ft. Lauderdale). One of the must things to do is to take one of the narrated river boat rides.
In Summary: you could stay at one of the condos on the ocean with its quiet retirement atmosphere - where you will have to get in your car to go anyplace, or you can stay Downtown “where the action is”. If you haven’t tried staying Downtown I think you have a treat awaiting you.

We absolutely loved this condo in Fort Lauderdale. The condo was over stocked with everything you could possibly need to make you stay perfect. It was clean and very functional, everything in good working order. The owners meet with us and went over things like the TV, use of remotes, location of bikes and kayaks-- so helpful. The views from the spacious balcony were fabulous with great comfortable chairs for relaxing afternoons and evenings.
We will definitely rebook this location again . . .it's just perfect! -

TorontoPenthouse luxury condo, fabulous views, every amenity
Left on 12/27/2011 for a stay in December 2011
This is one of the most exceptional and enjoyable homes we have rented anywhere in the world, chiefly the result of its superb amenities. It is so well stocked (a well equipped kitchen, extra towels and bedding) and equipped with a host of little touches that are lacking in most rental homes, but really needed for stays longer than a week. There is really nothing we needed that Ralph and Judy had not anticipated. The view from the balcony of the river and downtown Fort Lauderdale is outstanding, and being here during the Hard Rock boat parade was a highlight. We would also recommend the Broward Centre for the Performing arts directly opposite across the river (we attended a symphony one evening) and Bonnet House, a little piece of Fort Lauderdale history, just a short drive from the Esplanade, both of which we loved.
Most important, the owners are a delight to deal with: extremely welcoming, helpful and very well organized (we are constantly amazed at how often this is not the case!). Our thanks to Ralph and Judy for their hospitality, and for making our stay so enjoyable. By the way, as an example of the superb attention to detail, they even provided stamped, custom postcards for the use of guests. Definitely a return destination.

We have stayed in this apartment in July 2009 for two weeks and had a wonderfull vacation. Everything was great. Great hosts, excellent location and the apartment was perfectly clean. There was nothing we have missed. This will be our all time favorite vacation home in Florida and we can recommend it highly.

Left on 10/26/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We enjoyed our stay at the penthouse condo immensely. The location is convenient to the water taxi, the Broward Center, Los Olas and the Riverwalk. We loved the balconey for relaxing and the long list of extras made our stay especially rewarding.
We used the beach chairs and umbrella for an outing and Ralph and Judy were just an email away for advice. The Wifi and computer were so helpful. Ralph and Judy went that extra mile in every regard. We love to make our own breakfast in the morning and relax. The grocery store was close by and secure parking was a bonus.
Far warning that there is a train close by but we were not bothered.

Ralph and Judy, Thank you so much for allowing my son and I to stay in your lovely condo during our annual baseball trip. We couldn't have hoped for a better trip. The Giants swept the 3 game series with the Marlins and enjoying our post game recap while enjoying the view from your balcony was truly special. It turned out to be another 3 days in paradise! I apologize if you are Marlin fans but the Giants normally get beat up when they come to Florida. We enjoyed the Jungle Queen and ate at both the Downtowner and Pirate Republic. Thanks you for the recommendations. Please know that the staff here is very friendly and treat your guests like family. P.S. I plan to come back in 2012 to see the Marlin's new stadium.

I stayed here for 2 weeks while in town with fiddler on the roof. A co-worker and I (both management) shared this fantastic 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. It couldn't have been better equipped! The beautiful balcony on the top floor of the building provided gorgeous views and a lovely breeze. The kitchen had every appliance necessary and quite few extras. Ralph and Judy were so welcoming and pointed out some local restaurants to try. I'll definitely come back if given the chance!

My husband and I had a lovely time at Ralph's spacious and nicely furnished (well equipped kitchen) condo. While never obtrusive, he and his wife ensure that your stay will be an enjoyable one. We played tennis on the roof, used their bikes- kayaks were available too! Great location for walks, restaurants and an always changing and beautiful view of the River and the fun boats that sail by from their balcony. You won't be disappointed!

Whenever we work, as travel writers around the world there is one thing that frequently blights our enjoyment and that is finding accommodation that we can afford to pay for and more importantly meets our high standards. We are sure that we are not alone in our desire to avoid noisy and sometimes dirty rooms in hotels chains. They are uncomfortable, have expensive and poorly served breakfasts and supplement their already substantial profit by charging huge sums to guests for the use the internet. When we travel we like to live as local do, in comfort, with the necessities of life that make being and working away from home that little bit more bearable. A good, well equipped kitchen, washing machines, a place to work and other home comforts help ease the stress of being away on the road. What do you think? For many years we have suffered poor accommodation in Fort Lauderdale at boat show time, made worse by the knowing the price has just gone up because the event is in town. So, it is wonderfully refreshing to be able to report on, and even recommend, a great self-catering apartment in downtown Fort Lauderdale that is fully equipped, and while not cheap is excellent. The penthouse suite on the 17th floor is a two bedroom apartment located over looking the New River, with spectacular views of down town and the water in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The main bedroom has a huge bed, walk in wardrobe and bathroom with tub and separate shower. The second bedroom is laid out as a study with printer, wi-fi, sofa bed and its own bathroom. The large living room includes a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and drier and a dinning room table that is perfect for working at. Walk across the bridge to the Broward Center for Performing arts and all that Las Olas Boulevard has to offer or catch the water taxi over to the beach or along the water ways so you get to see the houses belonging to millionaires who park their super yachts at the foot of their gardens!

Ralph and Judy, We couldn't ask for more, every time we turned around it got better & better. The ads don't do your home justice. From the moment we arrived to the time we left things got better & better. I have to say your home is paradise. The girls loved the cookies. P.S. Your view is to die for.

Dear Ralph and Judy, Thank you very much for a wonderful time. We never thougt that your place was as espectacular and at the same time incredible functional. We have felt as in our house but at the same time in a great vacation. Watched the world series and enjoy it at your nice and large TV. We have shopped and walked and eat and done everything. Your place is absolutely cozy and comfortable! Nothing is missing, if there was something we need,it was there. It is very nice to see how much care you have put in this place. Once again, thank you and be sure that whenever we plan a new vacation here it will be with you. See you soon and thanks again. Jorge and alicia..

My husband and I love this condo. We've stayed here twice. I feel so welcomed every time we stay here, that it feels like home and I look forward to staying there again next time. The view on the balcony is fantastic, the condo is spacious and well set-up, the beach is close by, the grocery store is within walking distance - it's a super place to stay. A home away from home! -

Judy and Ralph It was a pleasure to meet you both, and stay in your great condo. We usually stay in Naples, but I think we are coming back to Fort Lauderdale.(More action, great food, and I think better beaches). Your condo is great, you think of everything. I believe that if Ralph had not been an engineer, he would have been an excellent upscale hotel manager - his attention to detail is remarkable.(pens-postcards-stamps-food-coffee-beach chairs-etc.) We spent the Month of March, the weather was great, and we were even able to see the fireworks celebrating the 100 years of Fort Lauderdale from the balcony. There is noise from the downtown nightclubs, late at night, but you get used to it, and the location, view, and building amenities far outweigh this distraction. Hope to see you again. Dorice and Jim, Branford, Ct.
