Our stay was great, area pools and grounds were kept clean and organized. Pool area was safe for children to play and the access to many other activities was just wonderful. The Lazy River, Ramada Water park, ocean and pools were what the kids needed to stay occupied during our stay. The Condo was clean and had all the perks of home with no problems encountered during our stay. I would recommend to friends and family.

Loved everything! The pools were warmer in 2012 than when we stayed there in 2011...and in 2011 the pool temp was my only complaint! So that means I had no complaints, it was fantastic! Thanks so much! Would I recommend to a friend? I would and I have!

Destin West. Its my favorite condo. We go there almost every summer. This year we waited until October to go and it was so relaxing. The weather was great and I loved our condo. -

The condo was very nice and clean and had everthing needed. We all enjoyed the pools, the splash garden, and the lazy river. There was a problem with sea weed in the water at the beach so we drove to Destin to he beach where there wasn't so much sea weed. The kids liked the pools and lazy river more than the beach!

We loved it! We are a family of 2 parents and 3 kids, the oldest child having significant special needs. Finding a place where all of us can have fun and relax is sometimes a challenge. Destin West was great.We loved our beach view with the breeze coming up on our deck. We also enjoyed overlooking the huge pool and palm trees and fountain park. I appreciate small details like how the tiles of the pool deck were artful and attractive (not just a plain slab of concrete). My husband and I made good use of the amazing fitness gym. I've never seen such a well-appointed fitness room in any resort before.
The guys who operated the beach shack with the set-ups were very sweet and accommodating. We also enjoyed being next door to some other amenities like the beach bar and alvin's Island and in walking distance to the Crab Shack. And then of course the walk from our condo to the beach was short and easy - even for my daughter with special needs. This is very important to us. She had no steps to climb which is perfect.
And the real bonus was the Lazy River!! Oh my goodness, we just loved that place! To have something like that where all 5 members of my family can have fun and be happy is a wonderful feature! We were delighted with it - especially at night!
I only have one recommendation for change: Please do not allow the code for the door lock to change until after check-out time. Ours changed before 10am. We felt very fortunate that an adult was in the condo when it happened. We could think of many scenarios where all but our child with special needs could have been out of the condo (loading the car, taking out trash, etc) Then our daughter with special needs would have been left inside a locked room all by herself.

We have always stayed at Embassy Suites or a hotel. This was our first time in a condo and it was amazing! We will continue to stay at the Destin West from now on!

Love the complex, just wish there was a small dresser of drawers in the bunk room, bathroom (behind the door). There was no where to put my 3 boys clothes other than a closet with shelves next to the washer/dryer in the hallway, but it all worked out. The view was spectacular & we love the amenities. This was our second year at this complex & we would definately return!

We enjoyed Destin West which we rented thru Compass Resorts. Loved the amenities and location. It was our first stay in that area. Only had a few issues with the condo (411) and we reported those problems to Compass Resorts. I did have one major problem that caused headaches...we were approved for a late check-out and went down to take a couple of pictures before we departed and when we tried to enter the condo to retrive our last things, my purse and cell phone to be specific, we were locked out! It was prior to the late check-out time we were given. I had to borrow a phone from the office downstairs and had to call 4 times before actually getting someone at Compass Resorts to get a code to enter the condo. That was extremely aggravating and delayed our departure.

Unit was clean; enjoyed the stay. Rented unit because needed 2 units for family.
Suggested Improvements needed: no linens for sleeper sofa; coffee maker leaked all over cabinet each time used. Need to check for possible replacement or repair. Balcony door needs lubrication to open/close. -

The condo was nice but the first night we did not have any air and it was warm inside. We called Compass Resorts and they sent out someone to fix the air. It did not have any Freon in the system. We appreciated the quick response from Compass. The rest of our trip was great until it came time to check out. When I booked our trip for Easter Weekend, I talked to Victoria and told her that I could only book if we could have a late checkout. I only asked to stay one hour longer since it was Easter morning. I asked if we could have an extra hour and check out at 11:00 so that we could fix a nice breakfast for our 4 children and have some time to enjoy our Easter morning with their baskets. It was just too hard to get our family of six out at 10:00 and enjoy some Easter time together. She said she had to ask another person and put me on hold. She came back to the phone and said it would not be a problem and said she would make a special note on my file and let housekeeping know. She said if housekeeping came by to just let them know that we would be leaving by 11:00. I kept the condo very clean so that housekeeping would not have to do much cleaning since their time would be shortened. When housekeeping arrived we explained the situation and they were very nice and said they would come back. Then I received a call from a very rude lady at Compass who told me we had to get out now. I kindly explained my conversation with Victoria and she said that she saw our notes but Victoria no longer worked for Compass Resorts and we needed to leave now. I was shocked at the rudeness and abupt language of this person. I had to quickly get my family out and our special morning was ruined. Our one hour would not have hurt anyone and delayed cleaning the room. We hardly touched anything and the room was very clean except for sheets and towels. We stay in Florida every year and our family will never book through Compass resorts again.

We stayed at Destin West and Bay Resort on the gulf side. We had an incredible view and right on the beach. My husband rented a kayak with our oldest son and caught a huge Spanish Mackeral( very yummy).
The pools were very much of an adventure. Our four boys ( ages 9, 6 and twin toddlers ) had a blast!
I found it all accessible even with a double stroller.
The condo was pretty and well equiped. It was quiet on the 4th floor even on Labor Day weekend.
We will come again. Destin is the best vacation spot around. -

Overall, we really liked staying at Destin West. Our condo (Gulfside 411) was very nice. The kitchen and bathrooms were spacious and modern. The kids loved the bunkbeds, The Lazy River was a favorite for our whole family.
We did have concerns with the beach. While the sand and water are wonderful, the beach was very steep going down into the water. This is compounded by the the "beach service," which sets up 40 unmbrella and sets of chairs across the beach, exactly 3 paces apart. These are placed so close together one cannot access the beach without going all the way to one of the ends. Also, very little beach is left for those who choose not to pay the high price for the chairs. We ended up sitting directly in front of people in the chairs, but nearly onthe steep hill going down into the water. Even if we HAD the chairs and umbrellas, we would not have been fully satisfied as they are placed so close to the next umbrella...very crowded! -

Overall, my stay was wonderful. I did experience a little distress when I "checked in". The instructions I received were for the wrong condo. I was actually staying in 411 and the instructions were for 611. I'm just glad the the guests in 611 were not in the condo at the time! I called the agent and she could not find my reservation. It turns out that it had been booked using my first name as my last name. Once that was fixed, everything else was fine. The condo itself was beautiful and my whole family had a great time, especially my 4 yr old. I would still recommend it! The only thing I would have done different was to remember to bring all my reservation information. If I would have paid extra attention, I could have avoided the initial distress I experienced.
