Our family's 2nd visit to azure Resort. Only down side was old washer and dryer that were noisy - minor detail. Very nice kitchen and appliances. Could eat in casual setting with stools at the countertop area or more formal at the dining room table. Very nice patio furniture - better than the furniture that we had at our last condo at the azure. The tile floors in most of the area were great - helped cleaning up sand. Carpeting in bedrooms was comfortable. Loved the light in the master bathroom shower! Spacious and nicely decorated!! Would recommend this unit - great views of the beach from the patio!!! Very relaxing trip - loved the two pools and hot tubs. Beach service highly recommended, due to hot sun. Sit back, read a book, eat lunch, enjoy a cocktail, see the beautiful ocean all under an umbrella sitting in a chaise chair on the white sand beach. Take a dip in the pool, sit in the hot tub. Who could ask for more relaxation on a beach vacation?!?

Disappointed with azure complex this time as well as condo #516
Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in April 2013 | Ed & Janet B
We stayed at the azure 3 years ago and had a fabulous experience. Unfortunately we can not say the same of our visit the first week of april 2013. Following are reasons for our disappointment:
1). Outside of the complex was being painted which was disruptive and presented a tripping safety hazard as plastic was laid in walkways. The timing was absurd since this was one of the busiest times of the year. I contacted customer service on this and was told they were not aware of this and I was told that the HOa should be contacted about it. Had we known of this we would have considered staying elsewhere. We paid full price for the condo rental while I consider it in somewhat construction phase.
2). The condo was well overdue for paintings and the sliding door going into the master bath could not be easily closed since one of the slides was off the track and a maintenance person was unable to remedy the problem -- it would have been a major Inconvenience for us to have it repaired during our stay so we told the maintenance person to forget about it.
3). The wi-fi was a joke and did not work at all at least 50% of the time during our stay. When it did work it was irritatingly slow. I called service and was walked though the router re-boot process. After the re-boot it worked fine for a couple hours but reverted back to pre-boot status -- I gave up on it after that.
4). The screens from the living room and the master bedroom were ripped at the frame.
5). The exhaust fan in the master bath did not work.
We are generally not nitpickers but there were just too many issues for us to overlook.
On the plus side, the location of the condo as well as the swimming pools were great. These two factors as we'll as our great experience of several years ago brought us back to the azure.
Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your vacation rental. We’re sorry to hear that your accommodations didn’t meet your expectations. We were aware that the entire building had been painted over the winter months but all information led us to believe that the work was finished. Due to regular occupancy since November, we have not yet had adequate time to re-paint the condo; this has now been scheduled. The sliding glass door has been repaired since your departure. It is unfortunate that repairs were too time consuming to realistically schedule during your stay. Regarding your internet, we believed that your concerns were resolved after your spoke with our technician. Now that it has been readdressed, we will look further into it. Thank you for reporting the screen door and exhaust fan, now that this has been brought to our attention, we will have these items repaired as well.

Both the condo and the beach were beautiful. The pools were great for the kids. The beach service was a huge help. The only maintenance issues were a light bulb was out in the master bath, the balcony door did not lock, and the dryer did not work properly. Otherwise, a very nice unit.

The unit at 516 azure was fine, a few issues with the lights, washer and dryer, and ice maker, but that was not the big issue. The big issue is the complex itself. First of all the a/C in the loby was broken, the door to the pool and beach was inoperable and my wife could not get in or out because it did not operate manually, both pools and 1 hot tub had tiles falling off and chunks of the gunnite missing with huge areas of mold in the pool. The elevators was unsafe, I think all 4 of them were on their last leg. It took over 4minutes 23 seconds to get from the 5th floor to the ground floor to go to the beach.
In conclusion, Azure was a beautiful property a few years ago but has been so sorely negelected and improperly maintained that it is now a dog!!! Read more
Response from Southern Vacation Rentals - 07/03/2012
Thank you very much for your feedback on your recent vacation with Southern Vacation Rentals. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the condo for the most part and I am sorry that you encountered some difficulties with the common areas of the Azure. Unfortunately, Southern does not maintenance or maintain the lobby area, the elevators or any items that are not affiliated with the condo itself. These are handled through the Home Owners Association and many of these are the first that we have heard. I have made it a priority to reach out to the HOA to let them know how our guests' have been inconvenienced and to see if they may further look into these issues.
Thank you for selecting Southern Vacation Rentals and we look forward to your future stays with us!
The whole family was very happy!

We really enjoyed our stay at azure. Perfect location, clean condo, and helpful staff. We definitely appreciate the staff and the cleanliness of the condo. We stayed in Destin Towers in March with Resort Quest and the the beds had hair and crumbs. The condo was filthy. We vacation often with an individual in Destin, but they were booked up for our March trip. But much to our expectation, we were impressed with this condo with Southern Resorts. Thank you for everything!
Overall, A Great Stay

We loved this condo, for the most part. It was beautifully decorated, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Kitchen very nice. Very spacious. However, on the last night of our stay the air conditioning stopped working! Ugh!! Thank goodness for the ceiling fans in each bedroom. The office had already closed for the night, so we decided to just tough it out, since we were leaving the next morning. Overall, we loved, loved the pool,(with three kids all under the age of 5yrs.) loved the splash pad!It was a family friendly place to stay. Would absolutely stay there again.

The only two things that I didn't like was no blow dryer in the ba'throom to the right. The other thing that was not acceptable was that the hall bathroom's showerhead only had 2 settings. Very hot and hot. We did not complain. The people at Southern Resorts were warm and friendly. Would go again. Also would recommend luggage racks for the closets.
Nice but a little noisy

We have been going to the Destin area for quite a while. The was our first time to stay at the Azure. We (especially our 3 kids) loved the pool area. The beach service was wonderful. The only issue we really had was that we could hear a lot of noise from the surrounding condos. That made us worry that we were bothering the people around us.
Fun at Azure

Great Place but no after hours service
Left on 09/24/2009 for a stay in September 2009 | TJB
Condo is very nice but there is no onsite assistance (after hours) if your key card fails to work and unlock your condo. You end up calling a number and waiting for a call back and then for someone to come by with a new key. We came back late one night after (midnight) and the key did not work. It took an hour to get someone to get our new key and get in the room. The guy they sent was someone that worked for Southern Resorts and was very nice. The fact that there is no one there after hours for assistance for a place that is this nice is the only draw back.
If you drive an SUV be prepared for little to no parking. The idiots that built the parking deck designed it where the SUV's can not go up levels as they will not fit due to height restrictions. Parking fills quickly.
Other than that the nicest place on Fort Walton Beach.
Great view, friendly service, clean roooms

We stayed at the Azure and were very pleased and we had only one issue. The room was exactly as it appeared on the website - top notch. The beach was great! In an excellent location, close to everything, but not crowded. Our only issue was the temperature of the pools. The pools were the same temperature as the hot tubs - bath-tub warm. You couldn't cool off in the pool because the water was too darn hot. We were told that in FL in August, all pools are hot. However, we visited another condo and their pool had cool water and was very refreshing. That is my only complaint. The room was fabulous, better than any other condo we saw. The grounds were fabulously landscaped and kept really well. Parking was great. The ocean was great! The beach was not crowded partly because on Okaloosa Island the condos can't be more than 6 stories. In Destin they have high rises and the beaches are more crowded because of it. So, if the pool issue can be fixed, we would definitely stay here again.
our stay was wonderful and the condo was beautiful

We all had a great time and the condo was beautiful. We especially loved the complimentary beach service, and the luxury and comfort of the condo. We did not want to leave. The only complaint is our unit needs some utensils to crack the yummy crab claws open. We will definitely be back.

Great week at the beach! The condo was very nice and we had a relaxing and enjoyable week. The beach service was great. We love the low key atmosphere of Okaloosa Island. It was nice being able to arrange an early arrival time.

Overall we were pleased with the stay and the room was very nice. However, there were a few things that would have made the experience more enjoyable.
1. The room had an odor of stale cigarette smoke and as a family we are all non-smokers. So, that was not an overall pleasant experience to walk into your condo and smell that.
2. The lock/dead bolt malfunctioned twice on us while we were there to where we had to have a maintenance person come and repair/replace parts in the lock because we were locked out of our room. I can think of worse places to be locked out of my room, but again an inconvenience.
3. I called and requested a person inpect the AC unit because the thermostat kept reading an error message. To my knowledge no one ever showed up to repair this issue because the message was still flashing when we left and I could never get the room temperature below a 71 degree reading. 71 degrees is fine with me, but there are times I would have liked to get the unit cooler.
Over all, a very fine place to stay with all the amenities you would want, just wish these little annoying things were not present.

It was a nice place but could not enjoy sleeping in because we had to get up early just to be able to get a good beach chair every morning. Most places we've stayed put it up every morning with your name on it. This was very inconvenient considering the price we paid to stay there!!!

We visit this area twice per year. We had always stayed at The Breakers. However, we had been watching the construction of Azure for a little over a year. Once we toured the facility, we have been staying there ever since. For the last 2 years at least. You cant beat the quality and services offered there. I suggest to all to spend a little more. Azure is well worth the price difference. We have since found it to be competitive with surrounding much older condos.
