Description from the owner
This wonderful pioneer farmstead is nestled in the hills just outside Fredericksburg, along the flowing waters of Palo Alto Creek. Palo Alto Creek Farm retains all of its original buildings, providing a visual timeline from the log cabin built in 1854 when this farmstead was first settled by German immigrants Peter and Christine Itz and their 6 children. Their oldest son Karl married in 1856. He and his bride later raised their family of 9 children in the log cabin here on the family farmstead. Later the family built the two-story limestone house in 1875 and the limestone barn in 1880. The farm remained in the Itz family for more than 100 yea...Read more

A little slice of Heaven
Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012
My husband and I have been coming to Palo alto Creek Farms for over 10 years. This is truly a little slice of Heaven and you can't understand what I mean until you stay here. There are different places to stay, the Log Cabin, The Barn, The Hideaway and the Itz House for larger groups. You feel a sense of peace when you start driving up the driveway. Each place is unique so you need to check out the website. It is truly like stepping back in time but there is not one detail missed from the family recipe gingerbread cookies to Lupe's wonderful breakfast foods. My fave is the Mexican quiche. You are greeted by a group of kitties, Scooter being the main one. He is a black and white big boy that is always here to greet guests. The jacuzzi tubs are awesome along with the 800 year old trees and swing to sit and have a glass of wine and look at the stars. Don't forget to book your massages from European Day Spa, they are wonderful! If you and your significant other are looking for a romantic getaway or just a place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle, Palo alto Creek Farm is your place.

HoustonA Little Slice of Heaven
Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My husband and I first stayed at Palo alto Creek Farm six years ago and fell in love with the place! We have been back every year since. Making reservations is a snap. I book a massage at the same time I make our reservation and we are set! Over the years we have stayed in each of the Guest Houses and have been impressed with the cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail. Each house brims with charming, nostalgic decor that is both welcoming and relaxing, but no two are the same! We started going to Fredericksburg for the shopping. Now we go to get away from it all. Palo alto CF is serenely peaceful; yet, it is only a couple of minutes to get to Main St. for dining and/or shopping. We love the homemade breakfasts left in the fridge for us to enjoy at our leisure. Each house has a quaint little kitchen area with plates, glasses, etc. We warm our breakfast, then eat it while sipping coffee and juice on the porch. What a perfect way to relax! The air is fresh, the birds sing and our troubles melt away. We love to see the Longhorn cows in the pasture and watch the goats play down by the creek. Just as the sun sets deer come to eat under an oak tree. We've even seen wild turkeys! The natural setting seems to make the clock tick a little slower so you can soak it all in and enjoy every minute. A couple of times we've been lucky enough to visit with the owners, Carter & Ellis. Carter shared interesting stories about the property and it's history. She has even named all the farm animals after country music stars! Going to Palo alto CF is my favorite vacation! Staying in a different house each time makes it fun. Palo alto Creek Farm is "A Little Slice of Heaven" in the Texas Hill Country. Thanks Carter & Ellis for sharing it! We look forward to our next stay - I've already booked it for November!

Plano, TXA Wonderful Getaway!
Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This is, without doubt, the most enjoyable, relaxing B & B we have ever visited. The acreage is remarkably kept, and the facilities we have stayed in on numerous occasions are First-Class. The Historical Itz House is incredible. We usually stay in The Barn, but have enjoyed the Itz House, The Log Cabin, and The Hideaway. We will be returning again and again, and we have told most of our friends that they should experience Palo alto Creek Farm!

San Francisco, CAExquisite beauty & perfect luxury!
Left on 06/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Our family savored every second of our springtime trip to this Fredricksburg jewel! From the rough-hewn, limestone facades to the sumptuous modern interiors, we enjoyed every single detail of the property (down to the vintage apothecary pieces in the bathrooms!) This is the perfect getaway for those looking for luxurious lodging in a place that still feels honestly rooted to the land.

My husband and I have stayed here a couple of times and are always incredibly overwhelmed with the warm hospitality and the beautiful surroundings. It is the most perfect getaway. From the delicious food to the fun animals to all the games to be played this makes for a perfect family get together or a romantic weekend away. We have done both and both were a success. My relatives keep begging me to plan the next family reunion there. We stayed in the Hideaway cabin and it is perfect. So cozy! I would recommend this in a heartbeat to anybody looking for a memorable and relaxing vacation.

Santa Fe, New MexicoFantastic!
Left on 06/13/2011 for a stay in March 2011
This is the most wonderful place on the planet! As you drive in the gate a certain peace and clamness comes over you. It is beautiful . We stayed in the Log Cabin which we loved. We peeked in the other places and they were wonderful as well. Our most favorite memory was our breakfast. We just could not decide between the breakfast burrito or the the egg sausage caserole. One special touch were the Gingerbread cookies that waited for us in our Log Cabin I rate this a 5 star!! A must on your Bucket List!!
