Description from the manager
Located in a new residential area in Fredericksburg Le Chalet is quietly tucked behind your host’s home. Finding they have a love of caring for guests, your hosts decided to build a cottage designed as a home away from home. Enter through a wood fence into a yard….intended to be enjoyed. The front porch has two comfy rockers overlooking the small fish pond and rock patio.
You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a villa in Provence! Inside the one room cottage, enjoy an array of comfortable furniture combined with fanciful French touches. The charming terra cotta fresco walls are accented with green stripes i...Read more

Driftwood, TXPerfect Fredericksburg Get away!

My husband and I got to experience this perfectly quaint getaway to celebrate our birthdays. This house exceeded our expectations. It was super clean and cozy. The decorations, furniture, and wall colors provided a warm atmosphere. Additionally, the location is great. It is close to down but nestled in a quiet neighborhood.
Comforts also included some treats including banana bread, muffins, ice-cream, yogurt, and more. The owners also included half and half and other essentials.
If you get a chance to hang out you can spend time playing games, watching dvd's, rocking on the porch or taking a long bath in the jacuzzi tub.
The bed was comfy and the robes were a nice touch (they were super soft).
The only negative comment was that the refrigerator was a little nosy.
Definitely think the owners went above and beyond to think of all the big and small details to make your trip memorable.
Lastly, we are grateful that the owners allow for a one night stay. We have a 5 year old at home and it is difficult to get away. So we appreciated being able to book just for one evening. -

My husband and I wanted a romantic getaway. After considering several places we decided to try Le Chalet. It was a private cottage and close to town. This beautifully decorated, clean little cottage was much more than we expected. When we opened the door to our little getaway we were thrilled. There was French music playing, a table beautifully set for two, and a comfortable King sized bed with a tray containing chocolates. The bathroom was big and the large tub was ready for a relaxing bubble bath. There were even warm robes to wear. Inside the fridge were yummy breakfasts for two mornings. There was freshly ground coffee and the cabinets contained cereals, tea bags and more. There was even a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for us. There was a comfortable loveseat in front of the fireplace and TV for relaxing. We never met the owners because they respected our privacy but they must be wonderful, thoughtful people. They provided us with everything to make our stay wonderful.

We enjoyed the peace, quiet, and very clean studio room. Many amenities were there... suntan lotion, soaps, wine, music, magazines, info about the area, and plenty of choices for food.
We liked being away from the main activities and the town's traffic. We drove to town to see and do activities...museums,flea market, weaving/knitting stores, antiques and spoke German with curators at the church and museum. We enjoyed the history and flavor of the community.
The staff at the rental office was great. I had not confirmed the room before leaving Ca. because it showed "available" on the web site, but would not take my payment because it was within 24 or 48 hours of our arrival. I was a bit stressed trying to reach the office and book the room, but they left messages on my cell during our flight that we had the room and I called back when we landed in Sa and gave credit card info. They left a key to the room outside the office since we were arriving late.
We enjoyed a 2nd honeymoon, and will request to stay there the next time we visit relatives in Texas. -

My husband and I celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary in Fredricksburg and stayed at Le Chalet. It was the perfect spot for us. Very quite and beautiful. The food prepared for us was delicious. We loved the fresh Columbian coffee. We would stay there again if we were in the area.

This place was perfect. We arrived to a fridge stocked with all kinds of breakfast goodies, soft music in the background, and the most wonderful one room cottage we could have imagined. The bathroom had a gigantic tub and the bed had the softest sheets we have ever slept on. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights, and in the middle of our stay, we arrived to find that the owners had come and cleaned the room. You have your own side entrance with a lovely Koi pond and sitting area complete with chimnea. It was the best first anniversary we could have ever hoped for.

We have vacationed at Le Chalet on at least four (and I think five) occasions over the past few years. Each time my wife and I have had a wonderful romantic experience in a beautiful and private setting. The food (breakfast) was terrific and more than filled our pallets. An added perk is its accessibility to Fredericksburg, a picturesque setting where there's always something going on and endless things to do. We love it and plan to return as often as we can.

As you open the door you are swept away to Paris. The music, the decor, ahhh... comfort at the end of a long days drive. We had planned on heading back out for a late dinner - but upon opening the refrigerator and seeing all the food that had been lovingly homemade for "breakfast" - we sank into the comfort of Le Chalet and enjoyed "breakfast" for dinner. We towed our Harley to enjoy jaunts around the area and had no worries leaving our car, trailer or bike for that matter in the residential neighborhood. Judging from their in-room guest book, they have many, many guests that return over and over. We'll be repeat guests.

We had a very hard time getting the space to cool. There was also a musty smell and we noticed some mold on the ceiling while we were there. We had a nice time but I don't think I would reserve that particular place again in the future.

The owner was sorry to hear that you had air condition problems during your stay, and wishes you would have contacted him at the time so that he could have addressed it. He also said that at that time they had the yard treated, and that that might have been the source of the odor. He has not been able to find the mold you described and wanted to know where you saw it.

This review takes place about three years after our last stay. In both instances, the cottage was exceptionally appointed, well taken care of, and ready for occupancy. The breakfast was delicious and the wine was great. This is a great place to get away from everything. It was wonderful and the owners were not intrusive.
