Description from the manager
This Texas Historical marker home was built in 1909 for Emil & Bertha Riley and purchased in 1912 by Charles Enderlin, Sr. and remained in the Enderlin Family for more than seventy years. Features of the home that are so typical of Fredericksburg are the side-gabled roof, shed roof, front porch, and two front doors. You will see more of these features in homes as you drive around town.
The Blue Cottage is located only four blocks from the central part of downtown Fredericksburg in a residential neighborhood. It has been beautifully renovated to be completely fresh inside and out. The front porch features a porch swing and leads you...Read more

Houston, TexasAdorable and convenient!
Left on 04/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My husband and I stayed at the Blue Cottage during a weekend getaway to Fredericksburg. The cottage is older and has antique charm, but has enough modern amenities that you won't feel too out of touch. The house was very clean and everything was very easy to find as needed. It seemed like as soon as we had a question, we'd look down and there would be a note from the owner that answered it, for example, the wireless password.
The concept of a 'block' in Fredericksburg (as in, the house is 4 blocks from main street) appears to be slightly askew from what we were used to (country block maybe?), but the location is still very convenient for getting to town. We didn't use the car at all while we were there. There are bikes at the cottage, but they have seen better days. So if you have your own and plan on using them a lot, it might be a good idea to bring.
In summary, the house is very charming and has what you need for a getaway stay. There are only 2 'real' beds, so I think it would feel pretty crowded if you were trying to have 6 people stay there, especially for an extended period of time. -

Houston, TXWhat a charming cottage!
Left on 06/19/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We love this place! When you arrive to the cottage you are greeted by a large front porch with two quaint sitting areas decorated with fresh annuals. The home is decorated with a wonderful and slightly eclectic mix of antique and modern furnishings. The kitchen contains all the necessary amenities for preparing a meal. If you are a coffee drinker, I would bring your own as the coffee provided in the refrigerator seemed a little stale. The master suite offers a lot of privacy and comfort and is located upstairs in the built-out attic space. The king size bed was very comfortable. The downstairs bedroom is very charming, but we did find the mattress too soft for comfortable sleeping. There is also a lovely backyard with a seating area, a grill and a firepit. One of the things we loved the most were the bicycles that are provided by the owners. If you did not want to drive to the main shopping area, you could take the two bicycles. My impression when we reserved the cottage was that it is within walking distance to the Main St., yet we found it to be a little far away for a casual walk. We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage and look forward to staying there again.

Highland VillageLocation great! House not so . . .
Left on 06/19/2012 for a stay in October 2011
The location was great for us. Our daughter's wedding reception was at Turner Hall, so it was very convenient. The home was not clean - dusty and even had crumbs on the kitchen table. There was so much "clutter" that we had to move things off counters, dressers and even the kitchen table to put our things. It was too small for my daughter to have bridesmaids over to get ready for the wedding - had to do it elsewhere. Biggest issues though were the clutter and dust. I actually swept the floor before my daughter came over.

San Antonio, TexasOur wonderful stay at the Blue Cottage in Fredericksburg Texas.

Very quaint and cozy with a beautiful backyard. The homeowners provided everything you could possibly need or want from bikes to a bar-b-que grill to extra blankets, pillows, coal lighter fluid & spices available for cooking.I will never stay at another hotel in Fredericksburg again. The rental property was close to shopping and dining and after a long day it was wonderful to sit in the backyard on the swing with a glass of wine or on the front porch in one of the rocking chairs. The home even boasted a jet spa tub!

Our first time in any B n B...could have spoiled it for us but we had friends there on the same weekeng in very nice B n B's at other sites.
If I owned it, first thing I'd do is fire the house keeper then empty it out completely, clean it from top to bottom, fumigate and start over. On a positive note, some of the decor was comforting however, everything dirty and don't expect adults to be comfortable upstairs. -

Our stay at The Blue Cottage provided us with exactly the "recharge" we needed. It would be difficult to find another place as charming and comfortable as this rental. It reminded me of staying at my grandmother's house -an immediate feeling of welcome; being comfortable and at peace.

Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in April 2011
This cute little house is within walking distance to everything- shops, restaurants, etc. But it's so cute, we decided that next time we stay, we'll just bring our own food and have dinner there.
Will definitely go back! -

Was a beautiful place...close to downtown ...lots of wonderful antiques...clean...roomy...stairs were a little much if you had problems..but there was upstairs and down stairs washrooms so that was good...very nicely decorated...t.v.did not work and was to complicated to figure out...but that was okay ...by the time we toured Fredericksburg no one wanted to watch tv anyway...would stay there again...we have also stayed at other places in town and it beats a motel anyday...worth the cost. Not exactly sure of the date we stayed so I will just guess

A small very charming two bedroom, lots of antiques and bricabrac. Well furnished with some nice little extras. It is a bit far to walk back and forth to downtown more than once a day, especialy after dark.

We have used Gastehaus Schmidt numerous times over the past several years. They have delivered great service each time.
We have stayed several times at the Blue Cottage! We love staying there and will likely stay there when we return in a few weeks.
The location is quiet, in a beautiful neighborhood and the amenities couldn't be better!!!
The decorations are to perfection and lots of room!!!
Comfortable beds was the best thing about this cottage! -

Fayetteville, TxAmple room for a crowd and close to town, but quiet.
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in July 2011
Great place to unwind after shopping all day. Backyard to enjoy the birds singing and sip wine with friends. We even had a yoga session there! The house is roomy with plenty of space to escape. We loved how the upstairs was laid out and arranged and the Texas cowboy theme. Affordable if split between several persons.
