Description from the manager

History, romance, quiet and adventure are requirements when staying at this special log cabin. The log portion of the home was built in the 1850’s and even has a display of the original mortar used in the building of the cabin. The rock kitchen and bedroom were added at later dates. Your hosts added the bathroom. Although the log cabin was home to early settlers, the past 50 plus years it has been used as a working barn. Your hosts and their family worked for three years to make the guest house the special place it is today.

The long front rock porch is typical of the 1800s and leads into the log cabin. Comfort is found in the log...Read more

We had a good stay and enjoyed the authenticity of the cabin. The yard and all its flowers was a lovely and peaceful setting. The only concern for me was the multilevels of the bathroom and kitchen. I was recuperating from a long term illness and did have difficulty navigating the cabin.

The service was excellent with a beautifully presented, delicious breakfast served each morning. We loved the unique decorations and the large whirlpool tub. The remote location was very peaceful and quiet--a great place to relax.

      It was great!!!

Left on 06/17/2012 for a stay in March 2011

Our stay was very enjoyable. The cabin is located outside of town on a ranch. The location lends privacy and a chance to get away from the bustle of town.

There is an amazing difference between the outward appearance and the ambiance inside. Upon our arrival, we discovered soothing music and warmly lit rooms. The cabin is very tastefully decorated in keeping with the time period, while providing modern amenities. It was impeccably clean and comfortable. We found the historical information about the cabin, family and area quite interesting. The breakfast was delicious!

We highly recommend a visit to Clear Springs Log Cabin!

Middle of nowhere, near to town

Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in March 2012

The cabin is in the middle of a farm so you can feel completely free of daily stress. But it is also an easy drive to some great restaurants and shopping. The best of both worlds adding up to a very relaxing vacation. There may not be enough windows if you want to sit inside and stare at the landscape, but the cabin is comfortable and the giant tub is a big plus (but no shower, so you have to dunk your head to clean your hair). And the breakfast is very tasty and creative.

This cabin is beautiful and our hosts were amazing. We were very impressed with the level of detail that was put ito the restoration of it and the book with the detailed history of the cabin. Our hosts were so thoughtful, they served us breakfast every morning that looked and tasted like something you would expect from room service in a 5 staar hotel. They even included a dog biscut on the tray every morning for our dog. The cabin is located on a ranch far enough out of town that you feel that you have truely "Gotten away from it all", but still close enough so you can go into Fredricksburg for shopping and dining. We spent one morning hiking, it was lovely. We went for our wedding anniversary and it was definately the romantic getaway that we were looking for.

Just one of precious touches in this cabin. A wonderful place to get in touch with nature.

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and had everything we needed. It was peaceful and downtown was just minutes away. The only thing we might have changed would be the TV. We rented movies for the night and the TV was older so the picture wasn't wonderful but we made it work. We would definetly go back!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 15th anniversary at your cabin. Where else can you take long quiet walks, puddle in the creek and sit in a huge oversized bathtub and watch the llamas outside the window (or were they watching you??) Can't wait until we can return.

I wrote about my recent stay in the logbook onsite. So, the owner already knows I appreciated the stay.

Gastehaus Schmidt emailed me with this online review about 15 months later, asking me to "rate my recent stay". My stay was over a year ago! Looks like there needs to be a prompter response from your inquiry software.

We had a wonderful stay. Sitting outside in the evening with a bottle of wine, enjoying the serenity, and admiring the vast Texan sky, is a memory that will stay with us. Our breakfast the next morning was charming. Our weimeraner, Delilah, had a fabulous time meeting the animals in the fields around us. Our family and friends thought the photo of Nic "taking his morning bath" was hilarious! Yes, we would definitely recommend a visit.

The property is wonderful, the photo book with the history of the facility was a treat for us. We brought our dog and it is truly dog friendly. It was great being able to roam the property and interact with llamas! We saw deer at dawn and dusk daily. The breakfasts were phenomenal and included milk bones for our dog too!

We stayed at this cabin for the Hill Country Motorcycle Rally. I've been going to this rally for several years and because there are so many cabins, I stay at a different one each time.
This was one of nicest places so far. The place was nicely decorated and the host's made you feel as if you were family.
Just a note for those traveling by bike. The road to the cabin is a full mile of pea gravel.A very well maintained road but still pea gravel. Just a bit un-nerving after a long day riding.

      Magical getaway

We absolutely love Clear Springs! We have been several times and consider it our "happy place". From the German pancakes, which are awesome to the quiet walks down the path, to quiet nights in, or just shopping downtown... it all just comes down to a perfect weekend getaway. With two small children at home, it makes a perfect time for us to re-energize and reconnect as a couple. The Fluitt's make you feel at home while not intruding on your time there. The huge jetted tub helps to relax and the fishing at the pond is always a nice touch to the experience too. I have already recommended it to several friends. I can't say enough about this place. We'll probably be booking another stay in a month or two!

My husband and I honeymooned here. I called the night before to let them know we might be late coming in from Medina. When we arrived, the lights were dim and there was romantic music on...even a rose on the bed. So we could sleep in the next morning, there was a ready-made breakfast for us in the fridge...complete with fresh sqeezed OJ!

      The perfect getaway!

Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This is truly a unique getaway! If you are looking to leave the traffic, loud noises and bright lights of the city life behind for a few days, this is the perfect place to go. Our stay was relaxing so much that I almost want to be selfish and keep Clear Springs a secret... I couldn't ask for a better secluded B&B; yet only minutes away from downtown Fredericksburg. We spent a peaceful night under a blanket of stars that seemed to stretch across the sky never ending with sounds of nature (not of car horns or sirens) and the fresh hill country air was rejuvenating. There are so many artifacts throughout the cabin, we spend hours looking at them all...Breakfast was mouthwatering fabulous and the keepers of this B&B; were extremely accommodating and a wealth of knowledge and history. This is our secret getaway...

My daughter and I fell in love with this house & the owners. We were served a delicious homemade german breakfast. There was every type of animal nearby - goats, cows, llamas. We took lots of nature pictures, butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers, etc. The front yard has a gate so it is dog friendly. We've stayed in Fredericksburg many times & this was our favorite B&B.; Bedroom w/door, big bathroom. Very cute small sleeping room in attic.
