Austin, TXLovely, comfortable home away from home!
Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Beautiful cottage style landscaping, gorgeous hardwood floors, comfortable furniture, dream kitchen, wired for sound in all living areas, wireless internet, central air/heat that works great, outdoor living area, herb garden, plenty of space for a group, convenient off road parking, quiet neighborhood only a few blocks from shopping/dining...this home has it all! Gastehaus Schmidt made the arrangements easy & promptly answered questions. Property was very clean & the owner left a good bottle of wine, homemade cranberry bread, breakfast meat/milk/juice, fruit, and condiments which was a nice surprise! Also quickly took care of requests. I would bring some carving knives & a few other kitchen utensils next time (and more towels if travelling with a group), but otherwise we had everything we needed and would definitely consider returning to this nice home.

We usually stay at a B&B; but because we brought a baby with us we stayed at a house. We will go back to this one! Lovely home with a great kitchen that makes you want to cook on your vacation :) The breakfast was very tasty and right on time.

This home was the perfect place for a girlfriend retreat. The furnishings were very comfortable as well as the bed linens and towels. The yard was gorgeous and very well kept. We had a delicious breakfast delivered each morning. I would definitely recommend this home and will plan on staying there again!

great house for a girls weekend - two great bedrooms and one room with twins. Twin beds were not so comfortable but the rest of the house was gorgeous. Breakfast was delivered every morning - very tasty. Great homeowners even left us a pitcher of sangria on the first night.

We've used Gesthaus-Schmidt three times..each time is a different experience. All of them gave us the 'home' feel, like we were at home. Yet, they were as different as they could. Das Kochende Haus is not only a chef's dream but also a place where rest and relaxation can be found. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Come back and stay there again? You betcha...in a heartbeat!!!

We had a great time here. The house is beautiful and specious for us all to relax and enjoy our time together. We were pleasantly surprised when we had a delicious, homemade breakfast delivered in the morning...my gosh! We feel like we got a great value for the money spent. Can't wait to return!

Das Kochende Haus was so warm and comfortable, we found it hard to leave to enjoy the sights of the Hill Country. The owners had thought of everything. The hot delivered breakfasts each morning were delicious.

Dallas, TxLoved the home! Fantastic renovation of a charming home!
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in November 2011
Very clean and accommodating, rooms were spacious and the house was very tastefully decorated. Breakfast each day was delicious and prompt. The house incorporated the charm of Fredericksburg, but wasn't so full of antiques that it made the house appear cluttered. We loved this house and would stay here every time we visited.

New Braunfels, TXFantastic!!!
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in July 2011
We had a wonderful stay. The house was very spacious for (4) adults and (1) toddler. Everything in the home was in working order and looked great. The internet connectivity was fast and reliable and the kitchen space was great. We would definately stay again. The location was quiet, but within a short drive to downtown Fredricksburg. The outside garden was a nice surprise; we ate tomatoes and chili peppers from the garden. Liked the most: Kitchen. Liked the least: The bathroom was small, but manageable.

Das Kochende Haus is a wonderful get away, with it's quiet location and charming decor. Of course the kitchen is to die for. If I could have found a way to stay indefinitely I would have. The home and yard are extraordinary!!

Very neat, clean, and modern home. In a cute neighborhood but not walking distance to Main St. shopping. You must drive and parking spaces are hard to get. Owners are very easy and accommodating. Homecooked breakfast was delicious. The home has an outdoor seating are that was nice for morning coffee and evening cocktails. You won't be dissapointed.

Loved this B&B.; We were five adult women (moms/daughters). We rented for the weekend, Friday/Sat/Sun.
The house is located 5 minutes from Main street. Very quiet neighborhood. House on a large corner lot. You can sit out at back or side patios till late hours and will not disturb the neighbors.
Kitchen is huge and made for family meal-making. Double full-size ovens, six gas burners on the range. Huge frig and freezer. This would be an excellent place to stay longer term ( one or two weeks). There were even vegetables and herbs growing on the property that we were allowed to pick and use during our stay! And we did!
Bedrooms were very comfortable. Nothing to complain about at all! Breakfast was left for us on the back porch each morning. Quiche, biscuits and fruit one morning. Sausage rolls, muffins and fruit the next. Delicious and satifying. A huge carafe of OJ was left in the frig along with a cruet of milk for our coffee.
Staff was very friendly. We would rent again here, in a heartbeat! Thank you, Gastehaus Schmidt!
