The Metzger family built the Metzger Sunday House in 1898s. Farmers by occupation the Metzger family built this little home in town to use on the weekends for shopping and attending church. The home has been kept in the family for over a century. Located just one block from Main Street in the Historic District guests will delight in seeing The Metzger Sunday House along with two other original Sunday Houses all lined in a row.
Typical of the old Sunday Houses a small covered porch with swing and comfy chair greets you upon arrival. The main room does double duty as a bedroom and sitting area. A queen-size bed is the focal point of the r...Read more

Colorado Springs, ColoradoMonth stay in Fredericksburg
Left on 11/28/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed at the Metzger sunday house from September 28 through October 30th. What a comfortable, great little place, close to church, shops and main street. It had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay there. Very quiet clean area, it was such delightful for a month's stay. Would definitely stay there again, recommend highly. Booked it through Gatehaus Schmidt everything went like clockwork.

Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in February 2011
For our 29th wedding anniversary we wanted something romantic and the Metzger Sunday House totally was that! Just enough room with all the amenities of home. The staff of Gasthaus Schmidt was very helpful making check-in in a breeze. Finding the room was easily done through the very user-friendly website.

Staying here really takes one back to the days when these homes were truly Sunday houses. We enjoyed the porch and the house and the convenience to restaurants.

Over all it was wonderful. Itried to give better review but the stars wouldn't light up.
A couple of things...less pastry would be nice. What we had was very tasty; just too much dough. Plus a larger Tv would be nice. Neither of these would keep us from coming back if we have another reunion in town.
Thanks for being able to stay there. -

AustinQuaint, convenient, historic vacation lodging
Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in July 2011
We had a wonderful and memorable stay over 4th of July weekend. The house was antique in every way but very sufficient and very convenient for walking to the parade and restaurants. We enjoyed the historic feeling of the house including the written history of the house which the owners have provided.

DFWFeels like our home
Left on 06/09/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We love staying at the Metzger Sunday House. We have stayed there a handful of times. It truly feels like our home away from home. We have the luxury to lounge on the front porch & save a little $ cooking for ourselves or take a short stroll to Main St. to dine. It's just enough but not too much!

Corpus Christi, TXCozy Stay
Left on 06/08/2012 for a stay in January 2012
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Metzger House. It was comfortable, clean, and the pastries waiting for us in the fridge were so tasty. The house is conveniently located close to downtown, so we could get there by walking if we wanted to. We were enchanted by the history of the place and learning about its first settlers. We would love to return.

The Metzger Sunday House is just the right size. Very cozy, yet has all of the amenities required for a pleasant stay. We especially enjoyed the pastries and reading the history of the house. We'll be back!

Luling,TXLove the Metzger House !!
Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in September 2010
We first stayed in this home for our honeymoon in 1996. Perfect for a couple. It is conviently located in town and we like to walk around the nice neighborhood. Liked having a full kitchen in case we didn't want to eat out. Love the swing on the front porch too. Have stayed here several times on our trips to Fredricksburg. My husband is a painter and his painting of the Metzger House in hanging in our home as a memory of good times in Fredricksburg. We tell people about staying there and the Gausthaus Schmidt B & B service if they need a bigger place. Hope to get up there again soon!!

Lumberton, TXOur peaceful, quaint romantic get-away.
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in April 2011
This was exactly what we wanted for our trip. We went for our 20th wedding anniversary and hadn't been away by ourselves in several years. It was on a quiet street, but close to town. We loved sitting on the porch. We also enjoyed being able to cook a meal if we wanted, which we did as everything we needed was in the kitchen.

Fort Worth, TexasMotel 6 with Victorian furniture
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We couldn't wait to get out the door every day.
Way over priced for what it is. We bought it at a charity function. Dark, small bath, too small for a tall man and woman. A place to lay your head while you see the sights of the area. Liked the pasteries.A motel 6 with Victorian furniture. -

The Metzger Sunday House is a great place to stay. My husband proposed the weekend we were there and now it is a very special place to us. We loved the pastries left for us. The house has a beautiful yard and a great front porch. We absolutely will return!
