Located just a short walk from Main Street this 1950 style home is both elegant and comfortable. The name “Sam Houston’s Retreat” came from their favorite pet dog. You will see a variety of artwork throughout the house to remind you of Sam Houston. It is evident they have done and thought of everything to make each and every stay a special memory. Your hosts completely remodeled this awesome home in 2010.

The location is great. There is a nice little store straight across the street. Close to Main Street. Nice clean home with everthing you need for your stay. I would love to stay again. The Gastehaus Schmidt makes renting it easy. They are very friendly and make you feel like family.

We rented the Sam Houston Retreat and enjoyed our stay very much. It was located close to downtown restaurants and shops. Best of all it was dog friendly and we could bring our 2 mini schnauzers! Looking forward to renting again!

We've stayed at a number of B&B;'s around Fredericksburg, but rately stay in town. Sam Houston's Retreat turned out to be a great find. Only two blocks from Main Street, we were able to walk to just about everything we wanted to do in town. The place is spacious, and private, and best of all pet friendly. There was a decent sized fenced back yard for the girls to play. We will definately stay here again.

Very close to Main street and it was nice not having to drive every time we went to town. The house was spacious. We weren't on top of each other like in a hotel room. Fredericksburg offers some great shopping! And the wineries are awesome!

We stayed here for a weekend & very much enjoyed ourselves. The house (furniture, beds, etc) were very comfortable. The bedrooms are separated from the main living space which was an advantage for us. We did not spend much time on the enclosed patio room or outside since it was so hot when we were there (the patio room did have aC but we didn't turn it on). The bathrooms were slightly dated but very clean. The house is on a busy street but was close to main street, shopping, etc. I would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.

Sam Houston's Retreat was spacious, an overall good value, and the location offered certain conveniences that other rentals did not, but the outside noise and traffic activity never let up. I'm not sure we would select it again for that reason.
