This home is truly an adult-size doll house. It's an original Sunday house, built in the late 1800s and is located two blocks from Main Street. It has always been known as the "little yellow house under the big oak tree." The downstairs consists of three rooms. The front porch leads you to the bedroom/sitting room decorated in pale dusty rose, delicate lace curtains and plate racks with "grandmother's Cabbage Rose" china that perfectly accents the two comfy wingback chairs. We really enjoyed our stay at the Yellow House, especially for its lovely, doll-house like quality. Everything we wanted/needed was provided there, even sleeping gowns - if necessary. The living-room/bedroom was full of antique knick-knacks. It waqs on the small side, definitely, but spacious enough for the two of us.
One small drawback: the road in front of it is quite busy and therefore there was some traffic noise - not too bad, but noticeable. And, as usual with quite a few B&Bs; in Fredericksburg, there was no breakfast provided but there was a voucher for one of the bakeries, which meant qwe had to walk/drive there to get breakfast. And the $10-voucher didn't get us far in the ways of a breakfast: a pastry and a coffee for each of us was all it got us. But still, we would not mind returning.

The Yellow House, although very pretty in pictures, had an unlit dirt path for a driveway, smelled musty and was unstocked with essentials when we arrived. The promised breakfast vouchers were undelivered. After multiple attempts to receive them, we received an incomplete set. We will not be returning.

We have stayed with other Gastehaus Schmidt properties in the past and have been pretty happy. But when we stayed at the Yellow House, we were disappointed. This place is very small, kitchen faucet didn't work properly, screens were torn plus other general maintenance issues. I would never stay there again, especially for the rate they have.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Little Yellow House in Fredericksburg. We always enjoy the town and the unique shopping experiences. The house is conveniently located close to the main shopping/dining areas in town. Unique experience to see what life might have been like at the turn of the 20th century.
