This wonderful cottage is located on a hill in Cain City just a few miles from Fredericksburg. Cain City was once a thriving community. The railroad went right through the city and at that time Cain City was divided into numerous city lots, which had both homes and businesses including a bank. The owners of Deer Ridge Cottage offer the history of Cain City along with a map of how things used to look. They offer an interesting look of days gone by.
Deer Ridge Cottage sits on a hill that has wonderful views of the countryside and Fredericksburg. The front porch has comfy seating to enjoy these awesome views—plus the deer hurrying to... the feeder below. You may want to have your camera ready to take photos of the many hummingbirds attracted to the feeders on the porch during the spring and summer.
The decorating in this cottage is an elegant country with stained concrete floors and faux painted walls. Your hosts have created the cottage with warmth and comfort in mind for your stay. The décor offers wonderful antiques Inside is an open living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. The living room has a sofa with queen sleeper and rocker placed to enjoy the Satellite television or one of the many movies left for guests. A table for four sits in front of a window to relish those wonderful outdoor views. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. The bedroom has a king bed, and the bath has a shower.
The cottage backs up to a cut in the hill, which is not a safe area for guests to climb, but there is plenty of room in front of the cottage to frolic and play. The roads in Cain City are also great areas for bicycling and walking.

We chose this cabin because it was secluded and we needed a place to wind down from our hectic life. It was perfect! The area is beautiful and the cabin was lovely. I'm especially critical of beds and want a comfortable place to sleep. Much to my pleasure, this bed was great.
We will definitely be returning.
Very enjoyable & quiet

We enjoyed watching the deer and the hummingbirds. The cottage was furnished perfectly, clean, and the front porch was a good place to sit and unwind. The wine was very good and so were the cookies. We had a great time and would like to stay there again.

Beautifully furnished, private, comfortable. In country (deer outside window) but minutes from Fredericksburg. Mini homemade coffee cake and juice left for us in fridge, they even left a treat for our dog! We will definitely stay at Deer Ridge Cottage again.

Deer Ridge Cottage is such a great place to stay--for a day or a week. The location is isolated, yet not far from Fredericksburg, Lukenbach or the wineries. The home has all the modern amenities (including cable) most homes have, but the setting is breathtaking. Sitting on top of a hill you can watch the deer come to the deer feeders every evening from the large porch.
Maybe best of all was being able to take our pet (dog) to the rental. In fact, our black lab met the owner and his dog during our stay.
Don't bring a small sport car to the property! Once you get to the property the road up to the house is fairly steep and rocky.
We will definately go back to Deer Ridge.
Wonderful weekend at Deer Ridge Cottage

Wow! It would be hard to name everything that is perfect about this place. Wonderful view and breeze from the front porch while sipping coffee in the swing or rockers. The queen bed is quite comfy, and the bath is well appointed with good water pressure. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook while we were there, we cook most meals:) Our wonderful hostess also left a simple but delisioso coffee cake for us. Their is even a grill for outdoor grilling. We didn't have the ability to use it as the county was under a burn ban.

I hate telling the truth about this place because it's going to make it harder to rent next time - and there will be a next time for us. Great location, well maintained, close to everything around Fredericksburg, yet away from town on a very peaceful hillside. The deer and hummingbirds were in abundance in mid-April.
Relaxing stay at Deer Ridge.

Deer Ridge Cottage was awesome! Very comfortable & clean; a very cute little house actually. This is a perfect getaway if you want some good relaxation time. Beautiful view from the covered front porch too. It is a bit of a drive to restaurants, but we stayed at Deer Ridge because we were going to Luckenbach, so it was perfect. Would definitely stay here again.
Great Hill Country place to unwind!

Great place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the great Texas Hill Country. Very clean and well maintained, with all the comforts of home...and then some! Very easy to get to and from any little town or vineyard.
One of the best in Hill Country

We have visited many cabin properties in the Fredericksburg area for years. Deer Ridge is one of the cleanest, best equipped ones in the area. With deer, wild turkeys, jack rabbits roaming your front yard, and humming birds buzzing the porch it is a perfect get-a-way to relax and leave city life behind.

Beautiful cottage, peaceful surroundings, perfect getaway. My husband, dog friend and I love to visit Deer Ridge Cottage and play in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas more than anywhere else. All three of us were made to feel welcome, from dog treats to movies galore and peaceful deer feedings at dusk. It's hard to decide between a nap in the hammock, shopping or visiting wineries. So we did them all!
Great View, Relaxing Stay

We have stayed at Deer Ridge several times.
We love sitting on the front porch enjoying the great view. You can see for miles from the front porch.
The kitchen has everything we need to make our own meal. It is close enough to town that it is easy to drive into town for a meal if we want to do that as well.
It's the perfect place to get away from the busy city life and let the quietness of the country rejuvinate you.
