Located only five minutes from Fredericksburg, it’s a world away from city life.  The property is bordered by two creeks all three cabin have access to a creek.  Each cabin was designed and buil-in conjunction with Laughlin Homes and Restoration, a nationally awarded leader in luxury home building.  Double Deer Ranch has a wide array of wildlife to enjoy—deer, turkey, foxes and a birders paradise.  The cattle is of special note, Double Deer Ranch runs Belted Galloways, a rare heritage breed imported from Scotland.  Typically prized by gourmets for their lean, marbled beef, but the owners just... think they’re cute.  A pair of miniature donkeys, Precious and Sister are always happy to greet visitors.    The three cabins are:

 

COYOTE

Expect the unexpected.  This inconspicuous barn houses a luxurious contemporary retreat from the hum-drum.  A set of oversized mahogany entry doors mirror the faux barn doors on the opposite wall.  The locally created king bed is topped with an array of vintage washed Italian sheets and quilts.  Accented by an eclectic collection of industrial farm house objects and contemporary design elements, such as electric guitars and graphic art—Coyote is a fusion of imaginative expression.  The sleek kitchenette offers a coffeemaker, microwave and fridge.  A double sided fireplace can be enjoyed from the living area as well as from the whirlpool tub for two.  The ultra luxurious bath is certainly something you’ll talk about all the way home.  The whirlpool tub for two over looks the creek cliff.  Custom tiled with colorful slate….large shower with massaging river stone floor…..contemporary fixtures. Plus the cabin has been extra insulated to guarantee a restful night sleep.

 

PALOMA

Inspired by the rustic Texas Hill Country, Paloma is anything but roughing it.  The king sized iron bed is inspired by European antiques.  Luxurious vintage washed Italian cotton sheets and quilts are simply dreamy.  A pair of club chairs flank the pioneer inspired stone fireplace.  Above the fireplace a giclee created by a  talented Texan pulls together ranch traditions through an array of playful colors.  The original hangs in a stadium skybox at your hostess’ alma mater in Austin.  Throughout the cabin you’ll find reclaimed wood furniture made by local artisans.  Whirlpool tub for two overlooks the countryside and creek below.  Thick, fluffy towels wrap you in luxury.  A custom tile shower has a massaging river rock floor.  Kitchen with full sized fridge, coffee maker and microwave.  Situated near the convergence of two creeks, you’ll enjoy a nearly year round breeze.  

 

TWIG

Reminiscent of the charming stone pioneer homes found throughout Fredericksburg. Twig blends nature with lavish lodgings.  A calming palette of white and cream is the perfect backdrop to relax and recharge.  The unique brand chandelier was fashioned by an artist with a need to bring the outdoors in.  Two overstuffed chairs clad in chenille wing the stone fireplace.  Better than sleeping on a cloud—the massive hand carved king bed is clothed in vintage washed Italian linens.  A windo lit nook offers a place to enjoy a cup of coffee while overlooking the pastures.  The kitchenette has everything you need, including a fridge, coffee maker and microwave.  Whirlpool tub for two is perfect to melt your cares away.  The shower for two with two shower heads offers a river rock floor to massage your feet…..The back patio area overlooks a year round creek.  Most evenings a small herd of deer will be at the window.  Twig reflects the beauty and serenity in the landscape3.  Shakespeare said it best, “one touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”

  We enjoyed our stay very much! Mostly because we are outdoorsy people to begin with. We loved the fact that we were able to enjoy the town and then relax in a small cottage similar to home. Seeing the wildlife made it so peaceful and beautiful! The cottage was very clean and spacious for the time we were there. High recommendations and we will be back again soon!

  We were able to snag this property on a last minute basis and I cannot imagine how it was possible. This gorgeous property is situated 5 miles from town and is nestled amidst a beautiful display of assorted wildflowers. The Paloma property has a porch in front and a private sitting area in the back for guests to take in the absolute peacefulness that this ranch provides. The interior of the home is modern, incredibly well done and far more roomy than the exterior would let you believe. Everything about this place was just lovely. I would definitely stay here again!
