Wonderful place - felt at home!
Left on 10/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed for 3 nights in august with our 11 year old son and a friend. It was perfect. Beautiful view, quiet, quirky. The kitchen was well equipped. The books and art work were all up my alley. I felt that if the owner of the house lived near by me in my non-vacation life, we would be good friends. The karma of the place was great! The only small suggestion is that the kitchen and bathroom faucets should be replaced by better funtioning ones. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Hello Lisa,
Thank you for your lovely review of Westcott Woods. And my husband did indeed replace those leaky faucets!

My boyfriend and I were mesmerized by San Juan Island and all its beauty. But truly, we were equally captivated by Westcott Woods. We immensely enjoyed our time at the cabin and admired every nook and cranny. The cabin had charmed us so, that we were only able to leave by vowing to return. Spending time at Westcott Woods was truly inspiring and will remain in our hearts. We look forward to returning and thank you for sharing such a magical place.

Lovely place, with a great view of Wescott Bay - so pretty when the sun set and a few nice places to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Quiet at night. Very close to an awesome restaurant - Duck Soup Inn, definitely will stay again.

Left on 06/29/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My family and I had a most wonderful stay at Westcott Woods. The cabin is fabulous. The view is awesome. Comfortable, clean, and cozy. We kept discovering little curiosities everytime we turned around. It was a lot of fun and interesting to see little pieces here and there of days gone by. The owner was prompt to respond and very accomodating and friendly.
The wildlife is abundant. The deer mowed her way through one morning. I put some sugar water in the hummingbird feeder and the hummingbirds kept us very entertained. We got so used to the Ravens calls and dialects that when we got back my daughter was dismayed that we just have to listen to crows now. My kids are 17 and 22 and they enjoyed the peace and quiet and the view just as much as my husband and I. We definitely hope to return back, it was hard to leave. -

We enjoyed a simply perfect long weekend at Wescott Woods! From the first e-mail to the deposit refund the owner was very prompt and cordial via email. As our first trip to the San Juan's we were simply enamored with the entire island experience and would highly recommend it.
The cabin was exactly as advertised - while quaint and rustic it was very comfortable with all fixtures/beds/couches quite modern and/or comfortable. The views are stunning, the trails and wild-life are un-paralleled, and a right of way grants beach access to the cove where we never saw another person.
We stayed with 2 kids who loved the cabin, and enjoyed the property. I could imagine the fact that the rooms don't have doors (just curtains) might be a problem for some, but it was great for us - makes a very open romantic atmosphere. -

Tacoma, WAMost beautiful cabin I have ever stayed in
Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This renter is very kind and accommodating. This cabin seems like it is right out of a magazine called the world's most beautiful cabins. It was very rustic but also very clean. It seemed like every detail of the cabin was beautiful. It is tucked in the woods with a beautiful view of the water. It is also easy to access the water through a short trail in the woods. This was such a special place and I feel very lucky to have spent time here. I came in the off season and it was amazing, I can only imagine what it must be like in the summer. Also it was very close to an adorable little town that had a great supermarket. There was absolutely nothing I would have changed about this cabin or my stay except I wish it could have lasted longer.

Haslemere, Surrey, EnglandHighpoint of our holiday
Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010
When we booked Westcott Woods for a 3 day stay towards the end of our holiday (Two English 40somethings with their teenage son 'do' the Pacific Northwest) we thought we would either be throwing away our hard earned cash on some terrible shack or it would be the experience of a lifetime... I think my husband was still in some doubt as he drove through the trees, but on stepping into the cabin we both knew this would be something special!
Our experience was excellent from start to finish; I booked directly with the owner via email and was able to use Paypal to pay. Directions to the cabin were good and once we'd understood the 'entrance' proceedure (we don't have key boxes in the UK!) our arrival was perfect.
The cabin really is home from home - so very well equipped it is obvious it is/has been used by the owners. We made use of the fire pit (after checking fire regulations and following the house rules!) to toast our marshmellows, after a BBQ on the deck over looking the lovely Westcott Bay! Another evening we lit the wood burner in the lounge and played Monopoly while watching the sun dip behind the trees and two deer take their evening stroll through the garden below us!
The cabin has everything; including a washing machine and tumble dryer and so many small, but special, touches are included - condiments, seasonings, firewood, washing powder.
Sleeping almost under the stars watching the moon light up the bay was magical for us 'townies' and I knew Westcott Woods had even got to our 17 year old son, when he opened the blinds in the lounge to see a hummingbird feeding at the bird table and a family of Grouse strutting across the lawn.
This cabin isn't cheap - we paid about £145 a night plus a (refundable) £120 deposit but it is worth every penny. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home with us and making our stay so memorable. -

SF Bay areaThis cabin was exactly what we wanted.
Left on 05/24/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We wanted to spend our 20th wedding anniversary in a real, rustic cabin in a quiet, peaceful place. We felt instantly at home when we arrived-it was so comfortable. We loved falling asleep to the soothing sound of the wind blowing through the trees and the rain on the roof. Each morning we did not want to get out of bed, but just stay snuggled down and gazing at the beautiful view. The cabin has an interesting and eclectic library of books and a well appointed kitchen (we have fond memories of the homemade waffles we were able to make for breakfast). After showering one morning, I looked up through the skylight and was treated to the sight of a bald eagle soaring back and forth overhead! The alpaca farm on the island gave us our first view of baby alpacas, just weaned and very friendly. Our stay at the cabin was just what we needed!

Seattle, WAWestcott Woods Cabin - Fantastic stay in the San Juan Islands
Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in October 2009
The Westcott Woods Cabin is a fantastic place for a San Juan Islands escape. Tucked into the hillside with a beautiful view over one of San Juan Island's bays, the cabin is the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend. It's quiet and cozy, and we loved the unique design (all built from recycled lumber and second-use materials on the island). It's well-stocked for cooking, and the location is really close to Roche Harbor for exploring what the San Juans have to offer. The sauna was a great way to unwind after spending the day hiking, and we can't wait to go back!
Response from Susan Fallat - 06/01/2010
Owner
Thank you Graham! For anyone reading this, we're so sorry that the sauna's no longer available, but there are a ton of great spas around the island, and I'm happy to refer you.

Port Orchard WAa family getaway
Left on 05/12/2010 for a stay in August 2009
We are recent empty nesters, and we wanted a cozy place for our sons, daughter-in-law and new granddaughter to enjoy family experiences with us. Wescott Woods was just the place! The unique rustic decor and secluded setting gave us an opportunity to relax, play games, read and take daily outings to the island sites. We were fortunate to catch the passing of a 'super pod' of orcas at Lime Kiln Park. The accomodations were a little tight with our party of eight, but the living room served as another bedroom. We will definitely do it again sometime.

Imagine staying in the family cabin and you will know Westcott Woods! The beds were comfy cozy and the decor shabby chic. You could tell all the pieces and parts were put together over time with love. The location was very private. The only thing I would change is the TV and really I didn't have the time to watch it anyway! I will stay here again.
