Located about a mile from Roche Harbor Resort, this retreat is convenient to many amenities including shopping, dining, and nightlife activities, if you desire. Enjoy walks, bike rides or launch small boats or kayaks from the community beach at the isthmus. Great location, best sunsets this side of Hawaii. We also enjoyed the daily visits of a doe and a buck and the harbor seal.

The setting of the house and the view from its front deck were first class, certainly as lovely a place as there is on the northern end of San Juan Island. The house itself was more than adequate and it was a very comfortable place to stay.
The only troublesome features were that the sliding door to the front deck was in poor repair and there seemed to be no outside light (motion-sensitive or otherwise) to illuminate the walk from car to front door or deck when arriving after dark. -

We (4 of us from austin TX) very much enjoyed the whole experience of staying at The Elephant House. We left wildfires and drought in Texas, and the cool beauty of SJI and relxing comfort of Elephant House was just what we needed to unwind and fall in love with nature again. The House was so conveniently located, well-stocked, and very clean. We would do it again.

Great simple location. A little worn, but that is better with our small children. The whole experience was nice from arranging the stay to the time there. My wife wished there was a dishwasher, and the carpet in the bathroom had some odor, but not severe.

awsome place. overlooking the fascinating speiden island, watching the ferries going by! wake up in the morning, to see all this from your bed! well stocked house, probably named for the huge tree trunk outside the window, that looks like an elephant trunk? only downside...the tv only had one tv channel! the antenna just didnt do it! and no wi fi. but if that isnt important to you, then its perfect.
