Haro Haiku on the West side of beautiful San Juan Island
The house is nestled just below the ridge line - with the Olympic mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca beyond, and Haro Straits immediately below. Approaching the house, you pass by a Japanese-inspired garden with a 62 year old Bonzi black pine center piece.
Inside Haro Haiku you'll find a contemporary blend of eastern and western style and decor with a decidedly Asian attitude. The interior lets the outside in through an ingenious use of sky lights and widow placements in the exterior and interior walls.

On quiet west side of island with stunning view of Haro Straight and snow covered Olympic Mountains from large banks of windows in living room and master bedroom. Orcas and eagles visible from the deck. Super quiet. 2 cushy king beds with nice linens, 2 baths, comfortable living room couches and wood burning stove. Nice dining room with same terrific view of the straight. Functional kitchen with many (but not all) staples to cook. Washer/dryer (loud!) Very tastefully and sparingly decorated in semi-Asian/Zen decor. Japanese influenced garden as well. Expansive deck to view wildlife (orcas, porpoises, eagles, deer, hummingbirds).
Tips: Bring your own high power binos to see everything in the cove below. Enter for the first time in daylight - one lane road up can be dicey if you meet someone coming the other way. View well worth the road and the climb. Odd super short but deep bathtub only a child could fit in. Stick with the 2 showers.
