This is the first time my wife and I have rented a house while visiting family in Friday Harbor. We are so happy that we did. Because we were traveling with with one of her siblings and his partner, we decided on the Sportsman's Lodge for it's separate 1st floor bedroom and full bath. There was more than enough room between the living room, great room and 4 bedrooms to keep everyone happy. Our island based family spent quite a bit of time visiting with us and the huge deck with grill came in very handy. The fully equiped kitchen was great and we took full advantage of it. The master bed and bath are beautiful. There is a wooded path down to Garrison Bay were there is a nice view up the face of Young Hill, or Mount Young, as my family calls it. With English Camp and an alpaca farm right around the corner, we didn't have to go far to enjoy some of the extra's that makes San Juan Island such a joy to visit. There are a few play things around the yard for young children and adults alike. The horse shoes were a pleasant surprise. All told, I couldn't have found a better deal in Friday Harbor if I tried. Hopefully the house will be available next year as well. Thank you for helping to make this the nicest visit home yet.
