Reisterstown renters
Reisterstown, MD.Relaxing
Left on 07/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My wife and I stayed here for our 5th anniversary, and we were overall very pleased. We were looking for a place that was private but had all the amenities we desire and this house fit the bill perfectly. It was a little close to a steep grade road which meant you could hear the labor of engines going up/down, but there is a line of trees so you can't see the traffic and they can't see you. There are no other houses in site and the property offers nice hiking down to the river where we came across a snake sunning himself on a rock in the water! The kitchen is nice and roomy, there are a couple of Tv's with DVD players and of course wireless internet access. The only disappointing aspect to the accommodations was that the hot tub was only at 93 degrees on the day we arrived and could not get it to warm up although the lights and jets worked fine.
Having said all that, we were less than thrilled with the rental company. The grill had no propane, and when we called about this they basically told us we should swap it ourselves and they'd reimburse us. Frankly, we didn't want to leave the property to begin with and being out-of-towners weren't sure where to go for propane anyway. In addition, when we called them about the hot tub they were unable to help us getting it to heat, only suggesting over the phone that we call the owner (which we did, but were unable to get a hold of him). We've rented homes in the Deep Creek area several times from Railey Rental and they are quick to address any concerns the renters have, and this rental company simply didn't match up. While we're very pleased with the house and property, I would be leery about renting from this same rental company again in the future.Response from Offlake Rentals - 07/12/2012
Manager
As the manager, please accept my apologies for how your problems were handled. Unfortunately I was out of town on family emergency during your visit and my assistant did not handle things the way our company normaly would. I have spoken with my temporary assistant about this and CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS IS NOT THE WAY WE DO BUSINESS and that the assistant handling matters in my absence is aware of this. As the other comments will show, generally Offlake Rentals is far and above top notch on customer service! Assistant in my stead was unaware of the extra propane tank that we keep at the house for guest exchange when needed (customary service of ours).

The house was fantastic in every way. My girl friends and I had a wonderful weekend stay and we read some of the previous comments. They boasted about Falling Water. We visited the house and thought it was architectural genius. A great location, a great warm house with lots of amenities, and a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

With our busy lifestyle of three active, young children, a business, and life, we need to have a time to relax and appreciate doing nothing. Kendell retreat was beautifully built and the perfect spot for us. It was very nice for the neighbor to check in on us and to see if we needed any help. We will definitely stay at the Kendall Retreat again.

This cabin has everything anyone would need for a very relaxing vacation. The hot tub was wonderful at the end of the day. We hicked down the trails which are well marked. Saw the white groundhog. And had a very enjoyable time. Thanks so much for your hospitality, we will definately consider your cabin for our next trip to Deep Creek

We so enjoyed our stay at Kendall Retreat. It was my families first time to Deep Creek Lake and this Vacation Get-a-way was awesome. The house is lovely, so clean and everything is provided. We couldn't have asked for more.
The owner was so nice, friendly and so very helpful - that was a pleasure, only wished I would have met him - Thank You!
Deep Creek Lake is a vacation we will take again sometime. Even a couples and/or girls weekend get-a-way sounds great. Thank you!! -

We had a wonderful time at Kendall Retreat. Both the owner and Offlake Rentals were great to work with. We come up to the area every year and this is definitely a must stay place!
We could have used more linens, 1 towel and washcloth per person for only 1 night! Not with girls, but we managed! We couldn't get in at first, but after calling the office, a new code was given. Glad it was during business hours!
We had a great time getting there and it is truly a wonderful place!Response from Offlake Rentals - 06/02/2011
Manager
Glad you had a good time at Kendall Retreat! While guest generally have a pretty solid experience at this fine cabin, it is always good to hear back from "true guest experiences". I am not sure why the code was incorrect, perhaps a typo from our reservationist when they sent your access info. Certainly in your email with your access code we do provide our 24 hr service # should there ever be any difficulties, even after hours. While we provide 1 full set of linens per guest for each home, if a guest ever feels a need for more all they have to do is request extra linens and we will be happy to arrange that service with the linen company, for the nominal extra expense that the linen company would charge us. Thank you for being our guest and we look forward to providing you another memorable experience!

If you want to be secluded, alone, with no one around, this is the house. Beautiful house, views and all the amenities. With internet and basic satellite, you still have the outside world at your hands. Away from the busy town, yet a few minutes drive and you're in the mist of the action. Quite sunsets are yours. I only wish the jacuzzi was on the top deck to check out the milky way that is yours to view.

Left on 08/17/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Kendall Retreat is a beautiful home with a nice view. The house was clean and inviting. Not too long of a drive to all the area has to offer, and a nice hike to the "Yough". (getting back up the hill is a challenge) We like to have the windows open to hear "nature" unfortunately the house sits right in front of a highway on a huge hill-lots of vehicle traffic and big trucks getting up and down the hill. We would love to come back with our granddaughter and play in the river! Be careful of the river - the dam lets out twice a week and the river rises. Check with people in Friendsville for days and times.

Pittsburgh, PABest Weekend Ever
Left on 07/25/2010 for a stay in July 2010
My husband and I spent the 4th of July weekend at The Kendall witho our best friends, and can't imagine a better weekend.
We had the most wonderful, relaxing, peaceful weekend at The Kendall Retreat. We had hoped to explore Deep Creek and area during our 3 day 4th of July weekend escape, but loved the house so much we had a hard time leaving! We spent the afternoons chatting and bonding on the deck and had a raging fire at the pit every night. Spending countless hours reminising, listening to music and toasting marshmellows... we didn't even use the downstairs as the 1st floor; deck and pit proved to be plenty of space for us. Having a washer and dryer on hand were key after the hike to the Yough (don't underesitmate the trip back, and remember that the damn is released twice a day, don't get caught out there, we almost lost our gear). The owner came during our visit (upon request) and he was more than accomodating, telling us to visit the hives and listen for the bears. We had hoped to run into one, but I think the raging fire and music were quite the deterent!
We can't wait to go back, and are planning a trip for this fall. We wish we could have bought the home. You'll love the surrounding, amenities and peaceful nature of the retreat. Go.. you won't regret! -

Left on 06/21/2010 for a stay in May 2010
Wonderful house with special attention to detail. Great location on protected land, 10 minutes from downtown Deep Creek, house is just the right size for a couples weekend away. This is our second year staying at Kendall Retreat for Memorial Day, and we couldn't be happier with the house, location, and amenities. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner as we checked out, who was incredibly nice and obviously takes great care of this place. Highly recommended!

Great Place! We all enjoyed our stay in this
beautiful home. Nice location and easy to get to from
I68. The snow was very deep and it was fun to try the
snowshoes which were available in the basement. Would
recommend this home. WISP the ski area is very nice
and only 15 mins away- great for sno-tubing! The
Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virgina is about an one
hour drive but worth it- great food & fun live music.
The folks at Off Lake Rentals were great to work
with! Can't wait to come back during other seasons as
the woods and stream nearby are very nice. />< -

As soon as we walked into the house, we were in love. Beautiful house, comfortable and full of amenities. The views from the deck, windows, hot tub were breathtaking and peaceful. We enjoyed our time in the house and spending time together. Would have loved to have a grill (even in winter) to cook up some burgers or steaks and the wood pile maybe a little closer or something to help bring wood closer to house, but none of this hindered our great time.

Baltimore, MDFabulous Stay in the Deep Creek Area!!
Left on 11/03/2009 for a stay in May 2009
There were 4 of us that visited Kendall Retreat for Memorial Day Weekend this year. This was our first experience with Offlake Rentals, and the entire process was smooth and easy, with friendly service too. We absolutely fell in love with Kendall Retreat. The house is off the main road, so it's very private with many trees and a great view from the back deck. The house was spectacular! The furniture and kitchen were beautiful, and the house was very clean. The deck area was great for coffee in the morning and drinks at night. The hot tub is defintely an added benefit for chilly nights. The things I liked the least were the few bugs we found on the floor and near the sliding glass doors, but it's hard to avoid when you're surrounded by the great outdoors. All in all, we could not have picked a better house, and we have since used Offlake Rentals to stay in another house during the beautiful fall season in Deep Creek.
