Catlins Wildlife Trackers and Mohua Park are owned and operated by Fergus and Mary Sutherland. Fergus and Mary are both trained teachers with masters degrees. Their 20 years running ecotours and accommodation, as well as their background in conservation and education mean that they provide top quality experiences for each guest. Their ecotours are highly rated, they were NZ Ecotourism Award co-winners in 1993 and NZ Activity and Adventure Award winners in 1996. Having started their ecotours in 1990 the Sutherlands were the first regular tour operators working exclusively in the Catlins area. They had a vision of how sustainable tourism could operate in the area without damaging the precious resource this remote environment offered.
