Linda & I (Jim) were both b. 1953. We are semi-retired professionals (commercial art, education, publishing, nursing) who moved to the woods of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont to homebirth, homeschool and farmstead our 5 children.

We moved to Vermont for Vermont herself. We love the pristine nature here, and the local culture where folks make their own yogurt, goat cheese, maple syrup, etc. People are so friendly you will find them waving at you as they drive by.

When we look out our windows we can see nothing but the “Carmel Cottage,” our private, dead-end gravel road, gardens & sauna by our year-round brook and woods. Our home is next to the cottage, handy if you need something, but we exaggerate our respect for the privacy of our guests. We are a quarter mile from our nearest neighbor.

We work hard at hospitality, trying to practice St. Benedict’s teaching: “Let every guest be received as Christ.”

I hope you will feel that way once you experience this unique treasure
