Tom Smedley the Younger

When my father, Tom Smedley the Elder, got tired of his career as a regional planner, he retired to an orchard "to raise apples, cattle, and kids." He also had a dream: the Blue Ridge Mountains as "playground for megalopolis," a tranquil place where urbanites could step off the treadmill and "see two trees together."

This dream has taken off in the last few years, thanks to the internet. I manage the online side of the business, including making reservations and keeping the shopping cart tuned. Dad greets our guests, and enjoys sharing the natural beauties of the area with wonderful people from everywhere.
