I lived in Akumal from 1989-1999. We owned a villa in Akumal (Casa Caribe) and operated/ managed several properties during this time period. We currently own one of Las Casitas Akumal , we love to return to Akumal, usually twice a year for visits. Since my married life began in Akumal and both of my children spent a good portion of their childhood in Akumal,
it is always like going home for us.
We feel very pleased to still be involved with Casa Christensen and the Christensen family, as it represents to us, the original eco-tourism destination, that my husband Mike and I knew in the seventies and eighties. The home has been well loved and maintained, while always trying to improve upon the environmental impact to the environment. Casa Christensen has obtained all the charm and beauty, of the original vision, of Doug & Ann Christensen and Lic. Jose Luis Moreno. (the architech for Maroma and our villa Casa Caribe) Unlike some of the newer properties developed in Akumal, Casa Christensen has maintained the comforts of beach living, while keeping the ambiance natural, a little rustic and wonderfully connected to the environment.
