Mel grew up in east Java. Anni grew up in western Massachusetts. We met when Anni was teaching ESL as a volunteer at an Academy of Foreign Languages in Jember, east Java, and Mel was her student! Anni was 24 and Mel was 21. We have lived together in Boston, Bali and now the Berkshires in western MA. We have two boys, Zephyr and Kaylo. We make our living selling silver jewelry that Anni designs, all made in Bali.
