We vacationed for years along the Connecticut shore, just 30 miles from our home. Most rental properties along New England shores date back to the 1920's and 30's. They are truly summer cottages with limited amenities. Back in 1984 my wife saw an ad in a local newspaper for a decorator furnished condo at a rental price lower that the 1920's cottage we were renting. Short walk to beach, TV, washer/dryer, fully furnished, etc. Our Connecticut shore cottage had none of these features. That was the first time we visited Hilton Head Island. We fell in love the the island, it's causal living, active sports and great beaches. We haven't stopped coming back
