After a 1 year sabbatical from the rat race, we did a 14 state tour and chose Gunnison, Colorado, as our summer home. We left the crime, smog and traffic of the DFW area of Texas to live in this mountain paradise.
You have to do about three things to make a living here, and the Wildwood Cabinettes are one of those things for us. We also own and manage apartments in town, have a small cabin on 160 acres in the wilderness that we run, and we both have regular jobs in town. But all of this movement is worth it to live in such an unspoiled, unpopulated country!
Most people leave their keys in their cars and don’t lock their doors here, and since everyone is from somewhere else, it is a very inviting community. Most people that live here a while may try to leave, but it gets in your soul. Some come and spend a month in Gunnison next summer and see if you can discover the magic too!
