I came to Costa Rica in 1993 with the intention of investment/adventure and found both. After exploring Costa Rica for a couple of weeks we arrived in La Fortuna and, despite the lack of tourism, had the feeling that this was the place.
I bought a couple of properties in order to make the financial commitment and not have it just be a dream. After returning to Vancouver I bought a fifth wheel and truck, and drove here to live in the trailer and use the truck for getting around. It worked out just great, though I would never do that trip again.
A little later I purchased the land and built the home where my B&B is now located. Owning a B&B was not my original intention but one that gradually evolved due to a shortage of accommodation when the area was 'discovered'.
It turned out to be a tremendous experience because people visit from all over the world to see the volcano and the natural wonders this area possesses. They are always very enthusiastic.
