We have been orchardists since we planted Barachel Orchard in 1986 with macadamia nuts. We're also running a processing company - Aotea Macadamias - supplying trade with wholesale macadamia kernel.
Before moving to the country I was a city girl, mother of four sons, then step mother to a daughter and two more sons when I married Tom in 1983. We are now expecting our 16th grandchild. Two of my sons have lived and worked in USA for over 20 years and I visit them twice a year.
We owned and operated two fine art galleries from 1995 to 2006 and when time permits I will start painting again. The development and promotion of our nutty business has meant that as golden oldies we are busier than ever.
We love meeting and sharing with folk from around the world so opening our home to travelers is an ideal way of enjoying that experience.

This was our 2nd night in NZ after a long flight, and Sylvienne and Tom made us feel part of their family. The Pizza Barn in nearby Waipu is a must for dinner, and Sylvienne's delicious brekkie was a grand start to another day on the road north to Whangarei. The en-suite bedroom was very comfortable, and I look forward to my next stay with this delightful couple.
