We are British but have moved to France to have a better family life with our sons and to be as self sufficient as economically & technically feasible. Is this an ideal location to base a European Tour?

Yes and we have had Australian guests who have proved this to be the case. You can choose to travel by car, train or airplane to any European destination including the UK.
Chez Tartaud is situated 1 hr by road from the cities of Poitiers & Limoges where mainline Train Station & Airports are situated. Both towns are a must visit too.
The A10 and A20 autoroutes are less than an hour away for travel within Europe by car.
