I have worked and lived in Bali as a designer since 1990 . My lable Kupu Kupu Design has been sold in USA , Europa ,Australia New Zealand as well as in Bali for more than 2 decades.
My personal favorite area is Seminyak .
Seminyak leads southern Bali in terms of style. It overflows with fashionable restaurants and lounges backed by exclusive five-star resorts. This sophisticated community lights up after hours, when tourists from across Southern Bali show up for the world-renowned club scene. The Honorary Consulate of Brazil is also here.
By day, Seminyak Beach is quiet and relaxed. Anyone based in Seminyak accommodation can spend the day sunbathing or exploring the community’s first-rate art galleries. Seminyak has plenty of excellent options for lunch, too, including Gado Gado, Mykonos Greek taverna and Bali Deli. Daytime activities range from horseback riding on the beach to surfing.
Trendy boutiques are popular by day. Beachwear and high fashion abound, with plenty of locally designed clothing and accessories in the mix. Handicrafts also flourish – especially batik. It would take days of shopping to look through every boutique in Seminyak.
In the evening, an exclusive atmosphere settles in. Gourmet French cuisine prevails in acclaimed fine-dining restaurants including the Living Room and Kare Warison, but there are plenty of other options. Khaima features Moroccan fare and belly dancers, while Bracio serves tapas. Ultra-hip champagne and cigar bars like Kudeta and Hu’ui are perfect for after-dinner drinks.
And then the nightlife picks up. Luxury hotels in Seminyak host elegant lounges and clubs where well-dressed dancers convene on a nightly basis. Seminyak has a niche for every brand of partier, with everything from salsa to techno.
