Deveron is positioned within the picturesque village of Rothbury, found nestled at the foot of the Simonside and Lordenshaw Hills. Deveron is situated in a tranquil setting on the bank of the river Coquet; it is quiet and peaceful but also close to Rothbury town centre. Rothbury has lots of quaint little tea rooms and local pub/restaurants with tremendous local food served all day, charming shops and a riverside 18 hole golf course all within easy walking distance. This is the ideal base for golfing, fishing, walking and cycling .You can fish for trout and salmon 50yards from your door, fishing permits can be easily acquired locally. The village has tennis courts, bowls and a football pitch and a swimming pool with a gym. Rothbury is well placed to enjoy some of the breathtaking beauty and outdoor activities associated with Northumberland yet within easy reach of historic towns like Morpeth and Alnwick. The Northumberland coast has many golden sandy beaches and the nearest is about 20 miles away. The 1,000 acres estate of Cragside, once home to Lord Armstrong, and the first home in the world to be lit by hydro-electricity is an interesting National Trust visitor attraction less than a mile away. Also Alnwick Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland is well known for it’s filming of Harry Potter and Alnwick Gardens with its Grand Cascading Waterfall is a place not to be missed. The Farne Islands are not far away and possibly have the most exciting seabird colony in England with unrivalled views of 23 species, including around 37,000 pairs of puffin. Gateshead Metro Centre is known to be the largest Shopping and Leisure Centre in Europe and is just off the A1 about 37 miles away. Chillingham Castle, home of the famous Chillingham Wild Cattle, They are the only wild cattle in the world, sole survivors of herds that once roamed the forests of Britain is only 19 miles away. There are many local fairs, music festivals and country shows within easy reach throughout the summer.
Deveron has a pretty terraced garden and provides an outdoor seating area overlooking the river- a great place to while away sunny days relaxing and watching the river slip gently by The house is light and spacious and equipped with everything required for a family holiday. Few properties offer this lovely location and yet combine countryside scenery with such convenience.
The house has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout it is very well equipped with everything to make your stay home from home. The lounge is comfortably furnished with leather sofa, plasma TV with Sky DVD, radio, books and games. . There are three bedrooms, two double with river views and one twin, a large bathroom with separate shower cubicle, the second toilet is downstairs. The large well equipped kitchen/diner has a cooker with ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave fridge freezer and a washer/dryer. Gas central heating, electricity and all bedding, towels etc are supplied in the price. The cottage sleeps six plus cot, a high chair and stair gates are also supplied. The car parking area has space for 2-3 cars in front of the house. There are 4 steep steps up to front entrance or a ramp which leads to access at rear, all fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the price. Cot, highchair and stair gates available. The house benefits from having a no smoking and no pet policy.
