The Eighth Maine Regiment Memorial Building is an authentic, Victorian era, seashore lodge and living history museum.
Today the Memorial serves as a living history museum and lodge with 14 simple bedrooms for overnight guests who share bathrooms. It is located on Peaks Island, Maine and is open each summer from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
On site, guests enjoy access to two large sun porches, a full veranda, a business center, a library, free WiFi service, cable tv, an Atlantic ocean beach, and kitchen and dining facilities.
The island is small enough to walk everywhere. It has restaurants, bike and kayak rentals, tennis courts, library, post office, gift shops, hiking, old forts, two Civil War regiment and one Umbrella cover museum, artist studios, a bank and atm's, American Legion Post and both sandy and rocky ocean beaches.
