Savage Hart Farm is owned and operated by Peggy and Todd A.. Neither has any previous farm experience.
For over 30 years, Peg often dreamed about owning and running a sheep farm. Todd’s typical response: “You can do that with your second husband.”
In September of 2011, Todd finally acquiesced. After months of research and planning, they sold their home in Illinois, and moved into a beautiful post and beam home on 32 acres near the top of Savage Hill in Hartford, VT. On 25 acres of grass, it is a perfect home for a flock. And with panoramic views of the upland bowl that is Jericho and the Green Mountains to the west, Savage Hart Farm is a spectacular setting to call home and welcome guests.
Our sheep are colored Corriedales with fleece colors ranging from sand to brown to almost black. Their wool makes fine yarn, similar to Merino. We bred 3 ewes in 2012 and welcomed 5 lambs in 2013 - three boys and two girls. Peg is spinning yarn again, and Todd is teaching himself to weave.
