Kristin S. has designed custom interiors independently since 2000. Kristin has distinguished herself not only in the hospitality market, but in the high-end residential market as well as resort island residences in the Bahamas. Creating exquisite interiors, with thoughtful color consideration and careful, detailed specification of exceptional materials and custom furnishings, has set Kristin apart from her competition. Kristin believes with each client, whether their preference is modern, traditional or eclectic, her goal is to suit their lifestyle and personal taste, creating a design that is exclusively theirs.

Kristin's well rounded education includes studies at Florida State University and American College for the Applied Arts. She graduated from East Tennessee State University , in her native Johnson City. It is here where she began her career, working for two highly recognized designers in the south, Betty Tuell and Mary R. Powell.

From there, Kristin embarked on South Florida, working as an Interior Designer and Assistant Buyer for Details at Home in South Beach for many years. Kristin's independent work began in 2000, with the inception of Ducote Design, along with partner/developer Chapman Ducote. Kristin's projects included the complete renovation and design of The Brooklyn Hotel in South Beach, luxury condominiums at Continuum, Tequesta Two and Sunset Harbour. She also teamed up with Wallace Tutt's team at Tutt Interiors to design Rock House, a resort in Harbour Island, Bahamas, as well as Coral Cay, a private residence and island near Harbour Island. Kristin also consulted for Howard Design Group, working with their design team on the new offices of The South Beach Diet.

In 2005, Kristin relocated to Banner Elk, North Carolina to design interiors for Developer John Turchin, at his mountain home retreat, The Lodges at Eagles Nest. (see (website: hidden)) Kristin worked with Mr. Turchin on his spec homes, as well as for individual clients that had purchased homes within the resort. Kristin and Douglas took a break in Doug’s native New York City, re-designed their apartment, and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Eleanor (Elle) Marie. Kristin is thrilled to be back down south, again designing interiors independently.
