An elegant, cozy home-away-from-home, Cottage on the Coast offers a luxurious vacation experience in a rustic, woodland setting on BC’s Sunshine Coast. Enjoy the comfort of down duvets, Turkish towels, and 600 thread count linens as you rest up in one of the two comfortable queen-size beds for days ahead spent enjoying the great outdoors. Your toughest decision during your stay? Whether to spend the day on the water, in the woods, or touring the many local artisan studios. How about a bit of all three?

A well-equipped gourmet kitchen invites your gastronomic creations. The local, well-stocked grocery store is only 20 minutes away for... grocery supplies, and fresh seafood is available seasonally for purchase at the government marina nearby. Or relax and enjoy a meal at one of the local eateries, pubs, and award-winning restaurants in the Pender Harbour area.

Enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon refreshment lounging on one of the cottage’s two decks. Soak up the sun on the front deck, with a peek-a-boo ocean view of lively Lee Bay and Texada Island in the distance. Stay cool in the shade on the deck at the back of the house and breathe in the refreshing aroma of cedar-infused forest air while watching for deer and other wildlife among the trees.

For boaters, ocean launches are nearby at both Irvine’s Landing and Duncan Cove, as well as at Madeira Park. Or if you prefer to rent, kayaks, canoes, and putt-around motorboats are available at local marine businesses. If fishing is your game, drop a line into one of the well-stocked local lakes from the side of the road, or bring your small boat and paddle around the nooks and crannies to find the best spots. Ocean charters are also available nearby for an adventurous day of fishing and/or sightseeing.

In the summer, spend the day swimming and sunning at one of the many spectacular freshwater lakes in the vicinity, including Hotel Lake, Garden Bay Lake, Katherine Lake, Sakinaw Lake, and Ruby Lake, to name a few. Or dip your toes into the chilly ocean waters, and take swim if you’ve got the desire! Beach comb for shells and interesting sea creatures along the ocean shore; who knows what treasures you’ll find! Whether swimming or fishing, on freshwater or saltwater, you’ll surely be refreshed by the pristine waters and gorgeous views of Garden Bay.

Fancy a leisurely round of golf? Play 9 or 18 holes at Pender Harbour Golf Club, just a 20-minute drive from the cottage. Or turn your trip into a golfer's getaway and include a visit to the two other golf courses on the lower Sunshine Coast: Sechelt Golf & Country Club, and Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club (in Roberts Creek). And if you're in the mood for ultimate relaxation, take your pick of treatments at one of the local spas, from massages and soaks to wraps and facials.

Festivals and events are held regularly all year and give you a dose of the many-faceted cultural community of the area. From music festivals like the Blues Festival, Jazz Festival, and Classical Music Festival, to car shows like Sleepy Hollow Rod Run, to monthly craft fairs and self-guided artisan/studio tours, you'll be sure to get a taste of all the treasures the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

And all year round, our clear night skies are perfect for astronomic observation. With no city lights to dim the glittering view, you’ll see millions of stars and be able to identify hundreds of constellations. Time your visit with one of the many yearly meteor showers and you’ll be counting shooting stars by the hundreds, right from the front deck!

In the winter, there are storm-watching opportunities galore for the strong at heart. Let the wind howl and rain pelt the cottage as you cozy up on the couch next to the romantic, wood-burning fireplace. Watch the storm clouds roll in from the west over Lee Bay and enjoy the raw power of Mother Nature as she holds a rip-roaring party in her giant back yard.

Located at the foot of Pender Hill Regional Park, step out the door and onto the Pender Hill trail, a vigorous yet short (30-minute) hike with spectacular views of Garden Bay as your reward. Or take a leisurely, roadway stroll around Sakinaw Ridge, watching for the plentiful wildlife, including eagles, ravens, hawks, hummingbirds, deer, black bears, and the odd orca or grey whale pod in nearby Agamemnon Channel. Birdwatchers, bring your binoculars, and your cameras! With over 20 trails of varying lengths and difficulty in the surrounding area, as well as numerous parks and viewpoints, you’ll be exploring to your heart’s content every day of your visit.
