  We are just enjoying our last night at Southern Elegance. There are 7 couples all staying in their own well-appointed suites; each with an ensuite. There are two large masters that face the ocean on the top floor, where three other suites are at the back (which is technically the front by the street...). The two other suites are at the front of the main level. Large, open areas allow for the large numbers of guests to not feel cramped or crowded. A large washer/dryer on the third floor and an apartment style unit on the main floor. Neither dryer works that great.
  
  The top floor veranda is uninhabitable as the boards are all curling, etc. The door from the north side master to the veranda does not open (ceased?). It would be very helpful if the rental agency had a more detailed description of the house. We called a few times, and were surprised at how little the agents seemed to know about the property.
  
  The ocean and beach are practically private. We especially enjoyed the main floor veranda with the white rockers. (It's deck has been replaced with composite). Nice to sit out in the morning with your coffee or in the afternoon or evening when the porch is in total shade. A lovely experience!
  
  The pool is actually larger than it looks on the pictures, and would probably hold 10 or more comfortably. The rental company has been by three times this week to clean the pool. The house has an elevator which is very handy to bring up groceries, etc. They have enclosed the bottom level and have two garage doors (one door is inoperable..). It's nice to be able to bring the cars in and keep them shaded from the sun. There is room for four cars, but again the left (north) door does not work.
  
  We have had a number of issues with other things, and I can say that Surfside Realty has responded fairly promptly. One issue has not been resolved all week (Ice Maker on third floor does not work...), but I did tell the repairman that with the two refrigerators that have ice makes and the ice maker in the wet bar around the corner, there was plenty of ice! They will likely come in on the Saturday between tenants and replace the part. Stairs that washed out from Hurricane Irene took three days to be replaced. It was not too pleasant having to negotiate that drop with some seniors and two pregnant daughters. We purchased a stepping stool at our own expense to get up and down until the stairs were rebuilt. I realize that the company probably had more serious issues to deal with.
  
  The furnishings are a mix of some nice, newer things along with some fairly ratty looking things, like the dining room table and chairs (pretty rough; one chair missing and found broken in the garage..). For the most part, the house is very inviting and lovely. It is a rental, and we are at the end of a busy season, so I would imagine that the rental agency and the owner(s) will need to get in and replace broken things; missing pictures, etc. People are so rough with rentals and it's a shame, because it just ends up costing the rest of us more to rent this homes. One has to wonder what their homes look like!!
  
  All our guests have had a wonderful week; the weather was amazing; the ocean has been a steady 84 f and the sun hasn't stopped shining all week! We saw our first dolphins today. We guess that they have been shying away due to the storm that passed through last weekend.
  
  We will definitely come back to Myrtle Beach. There are so many beautiful homes on this stretch (Surfside to Garden City). Many are brand new and look spectacular. There are a few other rental agencies that seem to cater to those more elite looking properties. We may try that next time.
  
  All in all, "Southern Elegance" has been a delight. We have slept well; eaten well; relaxed and enjoyed each-others' company. What better way to do it than in a truly elegant Southern home like "Southern Elegance"!
