Welcome to our vacation rental in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This privately owned chalet is aptly named Cloudy Dreams as it is situated high above Gatlinburg at 2380 feet. It has spectacular views of Mt. LeConte and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Our home is located just one street away from the park boundary gracing you with a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Spending your days in Gatlinburg is a snap when you stay in our chalet since it is only 2.6 miles to traffic light #10. Like to ski or snowboard? If so, our place is perfect, as it is only 1.6 miles to Ober Gatlinburg and the slopes.

Ok.i want to be clear that the property itself, view, communication with the owners, rental contract, etc all deserve 5 stars.
The trouble is with the drive up and down the mountain to get to and from the property. The private roads for about 10 minutes of driving to the property were not two full lanes wide (not one lane in each direction) at all points; this is a serious problem because they are literally at 30-40 degrees incline or decline with blind switch-backs and no guard rails. In our regular sized Toyota minivan, we held our breath each time we drove this, therefore we limited our excursions to once down the mountain and once up the mountain per day. On a map, the middle of one of the park trails may be accessible from somewhere near the home, but we could not find it. So to hike, we needed to drive first. To us, this meant that this vacation rental would be best suited for a group or family that wanted to arrive with all necessary provisions and just relax and enjoy the view and the many house amenities. For us, who wanted to eat out occasionally and hike a lot in the park, this did not meet our needs. It rained each evening, and there is no way I would have wanted to negotiate those roads in the fog and dark. I am terribly upset to be reading this and learning of your disappointment with your stay. I wish that you had phoned me to let me know about your difficulties both with the roads and with your inability to find the trailhead located in the neighborhood. Our goal as vacation rental owners is to provide you with the best possible vacation. Had I known of your troubles, I definitely would have remedied the situation.
I feel I need to clear up a few things. One of the charms of our chalet is that it has a spectacular view of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The chalet is located at 2400 feet (along with many other cabins and chalets) and therefore mountain roads are required to get to the house. The roads up to the chalet are not private. They are public roads that are fully paved and maintained by the city of Gatlinburg. Cars and school buses travel these roads as does the trash truck three times a week. While there are sections of the road that are narrow, it is not one lane the entire way up to the chalet. That would make it impossible for the many cars that travel these roads every day. That being said, the roads are mountain roads and are steep and narrow in places and are winding in others.
I apologize for your disappointment and wish that you'd informed me of your difficulties while you were at the chalet. Our sole desire is to make you happy with your vacation.

For the last two years, we have stayed four days at the Cloudy Dreams chalet after the Christmas and New Year's holidays. We stay at about three different vacation condos or houses each year and without a doubt, this chalet is the nicest. It is beautifully furnished and had the small touches that other places do not have. It has a beautiful view of the mountains and is close to some great natural and man-made attractions. If you want to get away and relax or have a wonderful place to stay while seeing Gatlinburg and the Smokies, you will not find a nicer place to stay.

This was a great cabin that far exceeded my expectations. Mrs. Wheeler was extremely helpful and friendly. I emailed her with lots of questions before I even reserved the cabin and she always emailed me with answers to my questions in a timely manner and was willing to provide me all the information I requested. The cabin was beautiful and it was decorated extremely nicely. The view from the balcony was breath-taking. The cabin was stalked with lots of books, movies and board games. My family and I will definately be staying at this cabin again and I would recommend it to all my friends and family.

We stayed at Cloudy Dreams for a week around the 4th of July. The home was clean and the amenities were wonderful. From the moment you enter the house, you feel at home and relaxed. The view from the porch is breath taking. Our 11 and 12 year old daughters had a fantastic time in the game room and on the porch watching the clouds and the mountains. Although we did go into town twice, the highlights of the trip were in the Smoky Mountains. We especially enjoyed the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. The views in the woods were amazing. Our girls also had lots of fun at the climb Works Canopy zip-line and Dollywood amusement park. Our family of 4 kept busy each day with the many outdoor activities the area has to offer. We loved coming home each afternoon to our chocolate lab, Godiva, and the stunning mountain view. We even saw baby turkeys, bunnies, and a mother bear with 3 cubs!

What a wonderful chalet. It felt like we were room rather than in a rental. It was very clean, well supplied and pet friendly. The view and sunrises were amazing. We even seen lots of wildlife around the chalet. There was a little bear off the deck one morning, a deer in the neighborhood around chalet and a turtle as well. The gas grill was very nice as well, we used it a couple of times. Very easy to deal with Cindy as well. Hope to be back again.

It's funny, but we have never seen deer in the neighborhood - bears, turkey, and plenty of birds, chipmunks, and squirrels, but never any deer. Several guests have reported them. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week at Cloudy Dreams to celebrate my husband's upcoming retirement. It was just the two of us and our faithful dog Miles. After months of anticipation we finally made it here. Cloudy Dreams was everything we expected and more! The chalet is so clean and the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of small appliances and cookware. We only got out twice the whole week--one day to Gatlinburg and one day to Pigeon Forge. We just enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the great views, relaxing in the hot tub, or taking long walks with our dog. We also were lucky enough to view the fireflies that were out in abundance at night. There were a zillion of them and they put on an incredible show! Everything about the chalet felt like home. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were impeccably clean. We are not typically early risers but we got up early every morning to catch the incredible sunrise from the deck. A cup of coffee and that incredible view was just what we needed to unwind. The view from the hot tub in the evenings was just as amazing. Especially when the stars were out. We highly recommend Cloudy Dreams and will definitely stay there the next time we go to Gatlinburg.

Cloudy Dreams... "what you see is what you get" & More. From the moment we walked in, we knew we had made the right choice. Renting the chalet was as easy as a couple of emails. Cloudy Dreams is spacious and comfortable and a lot of thought has been put into details which make every room unique.. The kitchen is completely stocked.. and we enjoyed several relaxing dinners using the grill on the deck.. then sitting at the comfortable table and enjoying the sights and sounds outdoors while we ate. Enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub.. just closing our eyes and listening to the sounds of nature. The beautiful winding roads leading to the chalet offer gorgeous views and it's only 10-15 mins to downtown Gatlinburg. Cades Cove ( our favorite spot) is only about 30 mins away. Between 2 visits, we spotted over a 100 deer, lots of huge wild turkey, and even saw a Mama bear w/2 cubs up in the woods... And speaking of bears, when we arrived and went out on the deck, we spotted a black bear sitting in the yard below the decks. What a treat that was. We never expected to see one that close !! Choosing Cloudy Dreams for our vacation was the perfect choice and we highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to spend your vacation. Cloudy Dreams surpassed all our expectations. Exceptionally clean and bright, wonderfully appointed and a fantastic view. A great place for two couples with the two master bedrooms or it would also be a great place for a family. Very quiet and has everything you need. If there is a drawback it's having to drive through Gatlinburg traffic to get there. The 'road less taken' directions were great until we got to the closed road! Otherwise everything was as advertised. I can recommend Cloudy Dreams 110%!

We had a great weekend and loved the chalet. Everything was perfect. We're in our 60's so we just enjoyed hanging out. Half of us did not know how to shoot pool so my friend and I provided much entertainment for our husbands!
Great views, private and comfy beds. The house was extremely clean and well furnished. Would highly recommend!

I spent 4 days here with my son before he goes to graduate school. It was a great father-son trip. I would also recommend Cloudy Dreams to a family or two couples. There were many positives to this chalet. It is exceptionally well maintained - very clean; everything in operating order; and well-equipped. The kitchen had all the utensils, dinnerware and pots/pans needed (could use storage containers though). It was also nice to see extras, such as coffee, creamer, cooking spray, salt/pepper, plastic wrap, etc.
The bedrooms are very nice with adequate closet and dresser space, comfy beds, extra blankets/pillows, clean, well-furnished bathrooms and TVs. The living areas were roomy and cozy. Extra TV with Dvds and pool table were great to have and use. There is plenty of lighting, which is also labeled on each switch - very helpful. It was good have have internet access, though a bit slow. Entry access to the chalet was easy, with keyless code.
The view from the back on both levels is beautiful - great to enjoy with a cup of coffee in the morning or chillin' on a cool evening. It's a short drive into Gatlinburg - 8 minutes to Parkway, the main drag. Tons of places to eat within a short distance. This is a wonderful vacaton spot or place for a long weekend get-away. Thanks to Cindy for making it easy to reserve the chalet and remit payment and for providing extra information about Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Cloudy Dreams is a wonderful chalet to spend some relaxing days. It's very close to the entrance of the National Park and all the attractions Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have to offer yet it is in a quiet location high above Gatlinburg with a terrific view (including a beautiful sunrise). The chalet is clean, roomy and well equipped. The Wheelers are great hosts and offer immaculate service including helpful information about the area. This all made for an unforgettable week for our family!

We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. The chalet is beautiful and the owners have thought of everything you might need. We enjoyed spending time on the deck and the beautiful view. Our teenage girls enjoyed the pool table and game system so much we actually spent two whole days at the cabin without leaving. The drive up to the cabin is definately not boring! We would love to stay again if we return to Gatlinburg.

The cabin was absolutley beautiful and very clean! It was very nicely decorated and not cluttered at all. The view was amazing! I just can't say enough about the property.
This trip included 4 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 child, and a baby. The adults and baby, of course, had fun hanging out upstairs. The teenagers and child hung out downstairs, playing the gaming systems, pool, and lounging in the hot tub. There truly was something for everyone! We never had to hear, "I'm bored" it was fabulous. We all actually wished we could of stayed one more day just to hang out in the cabin.
This trip will always be close to mine and my husband's heart as this was our son's first trip.

We love this house!!! The photos do not do this house justice. Loved relaxing on the deck with our coffee in the morning - the view seemed to change each day. Feels more like home away from home than a rental - comfortable deck furniture (none of that plastic stuff here!) and the beds which usually kill my back were sooo comfy. Our little dog loved it too - thanks Cindy and LD for allowing our Buster Brown to enjoy vacation too!!! Hope to come back again soon - wish I was there now!!!

Very good experiences renting from Cindy and LD. The chalet is very well taken care of spacious and very clean and the fact that it takes pets is a bonus doesnt have a "pet smell". Beautifully decorated and furnished alot of little "extras" are left in the chalet for guests to enjoy beautiful views all around would definately recommend

My husband, myself, my cousin and her husband stayed in Cloudy Dreams June 2nd - June 6th. I have to say that I was more than pleased with the chalet when we arrived. I was responsible for booking and I let out a sigh of relief when I actually opened the door for the first time. The chalet more than met all my expectations, it was even better in person than in the photos on the website. We have stayed in alot of rentals in the Smokies through the years and I have to say this was the cleanest chalet we have ever stayed in.
The decor reflected the loving care the owners have put into this rental, with lots of local decor and photos of the wildlife from this area. The cental living room opens to a big deck on the back with a fabulous view of the mountains. We all took advantage of the cushy deck furniture while enjoying our morning coffee. The two master bedroom suites are on opposite sides of the living area and provide the ultimate privacy for two couples. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pans, utensils and appliances, plus a nice pantry to store snacks, etc. This chalet had everything to make it your home away from home, including an extensive DVD and book collection downstairs in the gameroom. There is a nice pool table and huge TV in this room and another deck on this level, which is where the hot tub is located.
We all enjoyed our stay and especially the visit from the local bear that showed up in the backyard on our last night. That was really exciting.
We will definitely be back for another stay in the future. Thanks to Cindy and LD for sharing their lovely home with us!

I can totally relate to having the weight of having picked out the rental on your shoulders. Prior to buying Cloudy Dreams we would visit with my parents and I'd be responsible for picking out a place. It's always a relief when it works out.

Beautiful chalet matches beautiful location. Very enjoyable and relaxing. Would recommend to everyone. Anything and everything we could have wanted or needed was available to us. The chalet added to our whole vacation experience in the Great Smokey Mountains/Gatlinburg area. Didn't want to leave actually...but...have to return to reality sometime!
