I have to start by saying "wow"! Much better than I expected. The dinning room was huge and easily seated 14 plus there were bar stools for additional seating. We enjoyed everything about this place! It's a long and winding road all the way up to the Cabin (Chalet) with lots of beautiful views! I would Def stay here again. We had a large group of 16 but it could def sleep about 26 - 28. The owners/ managers were very thoughtful and helpful. The kitchen was fully stocked and then some! More than enough dishes and pots and pans, etc... Very Clean and very comfortable Luxury Cabin. Loved everything about it!

ColliervilleBeautiful cabin with excellent mountain view
Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed at the Cherokee Lodge for 1 week. We were a group of 16 made up of two extended families there for a wedding. The lodge was perfect for our size group. We also had a pre-wedding BBQ one night with about 25 people and the lodge accomodated that size for dinner easily. There is a long table in the dining room to accomodate (with folding chairs provided) 16 people; breakfast bar between kitchen and dining; sofas in the living room; chairs on the deck. The layout with bedrooms on all three levels, main living area, game room downstair, deck, hot tub, firepit with chairs all provided ample space to spread out. The kitchen (with two stoves) was ample for cooking large meals, but a little tight for more than one or two cooks at a time.
The location of the lodge provided a great mountain view and privacy, although there is a lodge below and a lodge above this lodge, separated by trees. The lodge is about a 10 minute drive up the mountain, so the distance to Gatlinburg (downtown) is a 30 minute drive. I mention this only because we rented thinking it was a shorter drive to the Gsmnp. We didn't mind the drive. It is an easy drive, but longer than expected. To get to the visitor's center, with traffic, took about 45 minutes.
Val and Renee were very easy to work with and we would be happy to rent from them again in the future. -

ArubaPerfect Cabin, Pefect View, Perfect Place for Family Reunion in
Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Once we arrived at Cherokee Lodge, driving up the (at sometimes) steep and curvy mountain road, we loved it at first sight! You enter into a large and airy living room with one of the best views of the smokies, in our humble opinion, but also based on driving passed the other cabins - you are literally on top on the mountain, there is only one cabin higher on Bear Ridge Road!
The cabin is very spacious, beautifully decorated (including a christmas tree...haha) and has a huge long table with 12 seats, which is where the family gathered most of the time. The kitchen has all of the neccessary equipment to cook for a large family including 2 stoves and ovens as well as a nice gas BBQ that we used each night. There is sufficient glassware, cutlery, pots and pans etc etc..
The downstairs game room was enjoyed by all the kids,as well as the parents as it gave us some peace and quiet upstairs. We loved the gas fireplaces and used them during the nights as it still got chilly.
An absolute highlight was the bonfire area with outside seating in front of the cabin, with the famous view but where the kids could play and search for Easter Eggs (we stayed during the Easter) From what we could tell, most cabins are built on stilts, so you only have a balcony but no outside area that is level enought for kids to play. Since we had children ranging from 2 - 9 in our party this was a very welcome benefit where the kids could play freely and safely, without the parents being afraid of them rolling down the mountain side.
Our daytime activities always included a stop at the grocery store, because of the long winding mountain road, if you forgot anything it was a long way back down the mountain!
Although we knew that we could call Val at anytime, we did not encounter any problems so there was no need to contact him. Check -in and Check-out went flawlessly with the automatic locks and codes, although the first time that we left the cabin, we did lock ourselves out ...luckily someone left a window unlocked, so we could climb back in, and figure the system out.
A word of caution to all who are connected 24/7 to internet - although we did have Wifi and good internet access, the phone service sometimes was lacking. We had international phones with us, so that might have been the issue - but sometimes we called or texted to people who stayed back in the cabin, and were not able to reach them.
We could not have asked for a more perfect cabin to stay in for our family reunion, it was large enough so everyone could have some alone time - but the large dining room was inviting enough, so that everybody gathered there any-how. A testimony to that fact, is that no one ended up fighting - which we kindof anticipated when you get the whole family together...
We most definitely recommend Cherokee Lodge to an extended family or group of friends with children, there is certainly enough space and the logde is very inviting for large groups! -

Knoxville, TNGreat place for multi generational family group. Something for
Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We stayed in this cabin the week before Christmas with 13 family members. With 3 floors there was a perfect place for everybody. Grandparents loved sitting in front of the fire in the living room and their own private suite on the main floor. Parents appreciated the top level bedrooms where they could get away when needed. The grandchildren and great grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the bottom level with the games, hot tub and separate TV area. If they stayed up late at night, it didn't bother anybody. The kitchen is good for a large group and the dinning table is awsome if you like to have meals together. (Which we do) There is a large living area that's perfect for reading, playing games, or just hanging out. The view is wonderful! The fridge in the kitchen broke while we were there and the owner had someone out to fix it the next day. Our family liked the seclusion and privacy of the location. It didn't keep people from hiking, shopping in Gatlinbug and Pigeon Forge, etc. Great house! We would definitely use it again.

Left on 12/19/2011 for a stay in December 2011
I don't know where to start... I read the reveiws that warned about the steep drive up the mountain and was a little nervous about that. The first trip up was indeed and adventure but the weather was good and road was dry. The second day we were there we got about 6 or 7 inches of snow. It was breathtaking. The road cleared quicly and a snow plow came up the mountain early that next morning. Ups even came up the mountan in one of those big brown vans and backed down our driveway to deliver a camera to one of our group.
The lodge was beautiful and since there was only 8 of us we had plenty of elbow room but spent most of our time sitting in front of the windows gazing at the view. There was four of us that were up before sunrise every morning to fix coffee and sit watching the sunrise. The lodge is well described in the listing so no sense me going over all of that. The essentials are there but be sure to bring all food, condements and anything not listed as supplied. The only problem we had was that the main refrig. in the kitchen was not cooling properly, the freezer worked fine. I notified Val of the problem and I am sure he has already addresed the problem. It looked like the bears may have gotten into the garbage because there was a lot of trash on the hill side.
We loved the place and are already talking about our next trip to stay there again. I think we will bring more people next time.

We love this cabin! When you walk to the front door, you can see through the great room and out the windows to the tops of mountains!
We enjoyed the fireplaces, large rooms, comfortable beds, beautiful balcony... it was great for our entire family. We will be back. If you visit in the winter/snow months, you do need a 4-wheel drive. -

Our family had a wonderful, perfect 3 day stay for my son's wedding and all the brothers, sisters and their kids had plenty of room to move around and enjoy themselves. The huge, long table and comfortable chairs were so nice for the rehearsal dinner and wedding brunch. We couldn't have picked a nicer place and loved everything about it. (Could have used a shelving area in the utility for all the food we brought.) Love, love, loved the cabin.

We really enjoyed our family get together in Cherokee Lodge. After a rocky start (we set the alarm off upon arrival) everything was awesome. The firepit was a nice touch, furnishings were upscale and beds were comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to add a highchair and port-a-crib along with a couple serving bowls in the kitchen. Property Mgr's info that is sent out prior to arrival was very helpful and offered many hints of area shopping, activities etc...thanks for a great time in the mountains!

The Cherokee Lodge was amazing! We watched the most beautiful mountain sunset from the deck. The house was spacious enough to house our large family. The huge dinning room table was perfect for all out meals. we had an amazing time, and probably wont ever stay in a hotel in Gatlinburg again, because we loved having the space, and privacy of a home in the mountains. We loved our stay at Cherokee Lodge!

My husband and I, along with our children and grandchildren(ages 7-23) gathered to celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary. From the beginning, Val went above and beyond to see that every detail (driving directions/check-in, etc)was in order and assured me that I would not be disappointed with our reservation. The mountain views were breathtaking. Indeed, the house was beautiful, clean and well supplied with everything we needed. Meals were a pleasure to fix with the well equipped kitchen, grill and large dining room table. We used every inch of the property including the porches, the hot tub and the fire pit almost every night. Noisy but fun, sometimes all 16 of us were in the game room at the same time, competing in pool, foosball, air hockey, bowling on the game arcade or playing cards. We did need to call for help with the satellite Tv's and with assistance got them operational. Some of us found the Tv's difficult to operate so just stayed away. We visited and shopped a few places in the area; all of us had a good time White Water Rafting, but most of the time we enjoyed the mountian home. It was the perfect place for 7 great days and nights that left us with precious memories. We all look forward to returning to "Cherokee Lodge" in the future. Thank you Val and Renee.

Simple instructions made entering the cabin very easy, as well as locating the cabin. Three separate families with children ranging from 6 to 16 years enjoyed this wonderful cabin. We bought groceries and cooked on the grill to minimize eating out expenses. Numerous utensils/cookware and ample space made this easy to accomplish. Great view and location allowed us to enjoy sunsets every night and turkeys gobbling in the morning! Beds were very comfortable and game room kept everyone busy at all hours of the day. This was a well needed vacation that was enjoyed by all immensely. Thank you very much!
