Massillon, OhioComfortable and relaxing
Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This was a very comfortable cabin with plenty of room and we had a wonderful visit. We enjoyed grilling out on the deck. Our 11-year-old grandson loved having the upstairs to himself and being able to play foosball and pool. We did have a bear sighting right on the deck! We liked being next to the National Park. The road was a little steep to the cabin, but we got used to it after the first drive. It is a nice amenity to be able to visit the pool at the clubhouse. This is our 4th visit to Gatlinburg and we always use Moutain Laurel Chalets. They treat us great!

Indianapolis, INA very peaceful setting.
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Our stay at Southern Exposure was fantastic. We loved the chalet. The only thing that I would change, would be the drive up the mountain, the roads need to be a little bit wider, and the drive needs to be widen. I did not like to have to turn around to get into the drive and after exiting it. Other than that it was very pleasant.

This place was one of the best places we stayed at when we visit.. Been to Gatlinburg a few times before. Great place to just sit around and enjoy an evening or got to town and shop. We will so rent from this company again. The only down side to it is the mountain, very steep, had to change breaks when we got home but over all it was so worth it. I would recommend to everyone!! Didn't want to leave ; (

Harrisburg PAPerfect Fit!
Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This cabin was a perfect fit for our family! My wife and 2 daughters went over the July 4th week. Each girl claimed their own room on the seccond floor. My wife then claimed the log-cabin room as her aerobics workout room. And I enjoyed the newly painted deck. The wireless access was excellent. The cabin is literally just a few steps from the park boundary, which is pretty exciting. The drive up the mountain and driveway is pretty steep, so if you have a wimpy car you may want to choose something else. The cabin needs some minor repairs - door knobs falling off, screen door to the porch falling off the hinges, dishwasher soap dispenser lid is missing, hot tub jets not working. But we would absolutely stay here again - the little quirks made it fun and a true "mountain experience".

This cabin was an excellent place to unwind; all the comforts of home but still remote enough to be relaxing! We saw a bear from the hot tub and was pleased to read about many other sitings around the cabin, as well. A true mountain home at an affordable price.

Crestwood, Ky.A nice get-a way mountain rental
Left on 02/13/2011 for a stay in January 2011
A nice rental with wooded view. In the winter months, you get a good view of the sun coming up over the mountains and a feeling that the Smoky Mountains are close. Then home was roomy for two or four with a old log cabin attached as a great room with a wood burning fireplace. The three bedrooms are roomy well lighted. There were two bathrooms. The one off a bedroom downstairs was nice but the bathroom upstairs needs major improvements. The tub/shower was very disgusting. The shower enclosure, whatever it was, had mold all around the ends and paint and mold coming off around the window that was in the shower. There was a small hot tub outside. The hot tub cover was in bad shape and had standing water on it. After struggling to get the cover off, the underside was really bad with flakes of plastic falling and mold all around. The water was cloudy and the bottom had a layer of dirt you could see which was never removed even after it was cleaned. We ended up not using the hot tub at all. To be fair, we did get a small refund but one reason we wanted the chalet, was for it's hot tub. Over all, we liked the location and the chalet but be aware of the steep roads and the driveway.

Sorry for the condition of the hot tub. The cover has been replaced and everything is in good working order. We are talking to the owner about redoing the upstairs bathtub surround. Thanks for the comments.

We loved the house. We got there late at night, so the drive up the driveway way a little dark and scary. Once inside, we loved every part of the house!!! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the pool table room. The room is way too small to play pool in. Our next visit, we would love to stay in your beautiful home again.

We stayed here in July of 2010 and had an awesome time. The decor was on the mark, very tasteful. The pictures online doesn't do this home justice. My only complaint was it could have been cleaner. We had absolutely the best stay ever, we have always stayed in cabins and chalets and this one ranks in the top 3!

Mount Juliet, TNWonderful charm!
Left on 07/22/2010 for a stay in June 2010
What a great house with a lot of charm. The attached 100 year old original cabin was a real treat! This cabin faces the national park with nothing but miles of forest in sight. The cabin fit 3 adults and 2 small children perfectly and could easily fit 6 people comfortably. The foosball table, pool table, and spa kept us all happy and occupied! The pool table set up is a little awkward with some areas being so close to walls but it made us laugh and I actually had a shot at beating my husband! The loft is not the greatest location as the table is extremely loud and sounded like bowling balls being dropped. My only complaint was the bed in one of the rooms upstairs...what an awful night of sleep, good thing the little ones did not seem to mind. Bottom line, this was my first trip to the Gatlinburg area and I cannot wait to go back. I would definitely choose this cabin again!

It is very cozy, comfortable, clean and private. We have visited Gatlinburg several times over the last 15 years and we always stay with Moutain Laurel chalets. Their service and staff is wonderful. This was our second time stayiing at Southern Exposure.
We really love it!! We hope to stay again next year. We did not see any bears there this year but we did in 2009. It is a really neat place. With the old cabin part and the new addition. My kids nicknamed it the chalabin...for chalet and cabin combined. They love the pool table and we love the hot tub. Really a great place to stay. -

This was our second stay at this home. We love the location and the home is perfect with much character. We have no complaints. The one thing we didn't like was to rent the home after tenants who smoked in it. We are not smokers and having to breathe cigarette smoke in the master bedroom and bathroom all week was very distressful.

Left on 06/03/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The chalet makes a lot of odd (and loud) noises. There was food on the floors when we got there and did not seem to be very clean. We really liked to location and the wildlife visits. Parking my F250 truck (and getting up and down the driveway) was very difficult.
It could use some attention on a lot of minor details. -

The chalet was beautiful and lots of room . The hot tub was great. We did not see any wild life. As far as the drive to the chalet is was extremely scarey. My brakes smoked everytime we came down the mountain. It needs to be listed or have something listed about the mountain drive to this chalet. Would I stay again yes. We truly enjoyed the stay just wish we could have seen a least a bear or something .

Left on 04/14/2010 for a stay in April 2010
My wife and I, along with our 5-year old boy and 8-year old girl took the long drive from Indiana. This was to be a 'working vacation' for me, a marketing writer. Internet service was a must for us.
When we got to the chalet, I couldn't connect to the internet. With one call to the office, Kay(?) came to my rescue, equipped with a new modem and I was up and running in minutes. She was so personable my 5-year old just had to give her a hug before she left.
My wife was so impressed with the thoughtful attention to detail that was obvious throughout the chalet. All of our needs were met and, frankly, our expectations were exceeded. The drive up the mountain was a bit frightening for us 'flat-landers', but with plenty of prayer and clenched fists, we navigated the twisting roads without incident.
The setting was beautiful, the chalet was comfortable and my family was totally enchanted. My daughter was so delighted to have access to so many TV's (there were 5!) and we had such great 'dad and daughter' times playing pool and fooseball. The next time we travel to the Smokey Mountains (this is our 3rd trip), we won't spend time surfing the internet for a place to stay...we're totally sold on Mountain Laurel Chalets.
Thank you for making our vacation something we'll remember with fondness for many, many years to come.
Sincerely,
Steve, Heidi, Ainsley and Nathan -

This was the third we have stayed with Mt. Laurel, using a different cabin every time. The office staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Southern Exposure was the perfect size for our family, with all the comforts of home. Being prepared for a steep driveway with sharp turns from previous stays, we were pleasantly surprised with an actual roomy driveway situated where you could turn in from either direction. The carport was also a nice feature. We especially enjoyed being able to light a fire every night to chase away the March chill. The only thing that wasn't up to or beyond our expectations was the hot tub not being under roof. Our children badly wanted to get in, but weather was not on our side and it was rainy. But, that's OK, we know we will be staying with you again. Maybe next time!

Left on 03/10/2010 for a stay in March 2010
My family and I really enjoyed how well the home was laid out with all the different rooms. It allowed the parents to have their own resting room while the kids played in the others. I would recommend this home to anyone who has never stayed in a "true" cabin. The 100 yr old section of the home sold me the minute I saw it. The rest of the home is nice also. There is lots of space but yet cozy. However I did have some issues with the office, on trying to get them to fix the internet problem and fix the light in the hot tub. They wanted us to be there, and with limited vacation time we didn't want to sit around and wait on a staffer to fix these problems. It would have been nice for them to have just came up to the cabin while we were out dining, and shopping and fix the problems. It wasn't that big of a deal though after all. The staff was courteous and informative.

Sorry you had trouble with the internet service. Our maintenance personnel did go to the house and check the service and they were able to reset the equipment and did not find a problem. The reason we wanted to meet with you was so we could assist you with your laptop because it was working fine for us.

The chalet was perfect very comfortable oh so cute and extremely clean. The driveway was a little scary but we managed to master it in our SUV after the first day. The hot tub a must after hiking all day. A perfect location to get into the national park quickly. If we had one thing to complain of that would be the service we recieved when we registered at the front desk upon arrival the clerk was not to friendly.

The house was wonderful! The decor and rooms were beautiful and very roomy! We fell in love with the foosball table...the only downfall about the pool table was there wasn't much room to play! Lots of wildlife...we were visited by a few bears morning and nightly through our week stay. Beware...the driveway is a little tricking but after a few times at it...you'll get the hang of it. Bring bug repellent...the mosquitoes are hungry. We were very pleased with this chalet...well worth the money. Highly Recommended!

I have used Mt. Laurel Chalets for over 20 years and stayed in numerous chalets. The service from the staff has always been the wonderful southern home style visit. Im from Kentucky so I expect that from my travels. The chalet was so quaint and relaxing. We enjoyed the great deck and hot tub, and the fire place is wonderful. The older part of the home was as if you were back in time knowing the history behind it. Enjoy all of the different places to eat and shop. Gatlinburg is so interesting just walking through and taking in the sights. I feel I have grown up here myself and will continue to use Mt. Laurel. Great Service, Great Chalets and lots of food and relaxing. Mountains amazing....

We have been renting from Mountain Laurel Chalets since my daughter was 8. She is now 31. It is the best place in the Smokies and in the city of Gatlinburg. The chalets are always clean, the rental agency are devoted and make sure you have all your needs met. We didn't know how to operate the tv remote and the maintenance guy showed up within 15 mins. It is great to stay in a chalet that is like your own home. No matter what location your chalet is in there is always a great view of the woods or mountains and it's always quiet. Our chalet was fully equiped including washer and dryer, air conditioning, full screen tv, DVDs, and multiple tvs. Clean linens and towels daily (you drop off and pick up) no problem. The office staff are knowledgeable and always friendly. I highly remommend Mountain Laurel Chalets are your vacation spot. You will not be disappointed.

Left on 08/05/2009 for a stay in July 2009
It was like a welcoming committee! Southern Exposure was more like "Wildlife Exposure". We saw 3 bears at the cabin; two on the first day, 2 on the road to the cabin, 2 in Cades Cove, and 3 in the park- a mama and 2 cubs! What an experience! A doe visited us the first day also; she was beautiful and posed for pictures-just wonderful! The cabin is homey and comfortable. We made ourselves at home immediately. We loved the den and wondered about it's builder and the history of it. The hot tub was a necessity every night for our sore muscles! We hiked every day and ejoyed the cool weather with a high of 77 and a low of 59, the temperature stayed around 65 to 70 most of the time. Even the mountain laurel was still blooming. We would stay in Southern Comfort again without hesitation and recommend staying there to everyone who likes the comforts of home in a relaxing setting.

The cabin was probably the best thing out of the entire trip, its very cozy when sitting around the fire at night and then slipping into the hot tub makes for a relaxing evening. We didnt take everyones advise of not to feed the bear's, in fact i think the bears ate better than we did that weekend. Lots of places to venture off into the woods, however we did hear a lot of coyotes at night. There's an abundance of wildlife from small to big and if your more of a city person dont worry, the crazy city of Gatlinberg is just at the bottom of the mountain. It mostly a tourist trap but has plenty of things to do for all ages. I recommend the Aquarium. Overall its a good getaway....

We stayed here in the spring and it was a beautiful setting. The chalet was roomy, yet still cozy. Everything was clean and in good working order. The pictures on the web site actually matched the house, which is not always true. The chalet was very quiet and private, although we did have several unexpected visitors. Our stay was very good. A bear had torn down the back screen the night before we arrived. It wasn't repaired before we left, which did not allow us to use the back deck. It was a bit scary going up the driveway to park in the covered garage. Our boys loved the pool table and the hot tub. It has a warm cozy feeling of home.
