Burwood, TNPerfect Cabin
Left on 05/08/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I recently stayed at Looky Yonder, with my sister, my nephew, and niece, and it was wonderful. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and there was a small yard for the kids to play in. We got snow and were worried that we would be stuck inside for a few days, however, the resort security had the roads completely salted. It was fantastic! We got to enjoy the beautiful view and still get to drive into town! Can't wait to go back next year!

TampaOverall - good - but it's the not so little things that make it
Left on 01/31/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The home and views are spectacular - there are 2 porches both with great views and a window room upstairs to sit and looky if you want. No one would be disappointed! It's the little things I would have to comment on like the really steep driveway should have been mentioned as it was raining and it was an issue. Luckily, we only had to go up it once. There weren't many supplies such as salt, pepper, coffee, oil and other basics at the lodge that cost a lot to go to the store when you just want to use it once. Charcoal for the grill would also be nice. We had no access to a broom and we did need one to clean under the sofa because we moved it closer to the TV. There could be some lighting above the hot tub, as you have to use a flashlight to use the controls at night and can't see people's faces. We left 20-30" late and as we putting the last items in the car, the cleaning person drove up. Oddly, instead of getting out of the car to say hello and is everything good, he/she just sat there and decided to make a phone call instead. Then I got a phone call asking if everything was ok. Odd way to handle that situation and it made it very awkward to continue to be watched as we were finishing instead of breaking the ice and making conversation - very impersonal.

AustraliaPerfect Smoky Mountain getaway!
Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in November 2012
The LookyYonder cabin was a delight to stay in! It fitted our family of 6 easily, with plenty of room to spare. The pool table got a great workout, the beds were very comfortable, and the living space was terrific. The kitchen was well stocked, the fireplace warm and cozy, and lovely that it was on for our arrival. We made good use of the cookout grills outside, the rocking chairs, and the jacuzzi was amazing! If you are after privacy with a superb view, then this is a great cabin for you. We really felt like we had the mountains all to ourselves. Only let down was there were no blankets supplied for the bed upstairs, thankfully we had a spare blanket in our car, but there really should be a blanket for every bed. Also a word of warning, we had to make several attempts in our Honda Odyssey to get up the steep driveway (it had been raining and wet leaves were on the ground). I would recommend a confident driver, and definitely a 4wd for heavy rain/snow.
Plenty to see and do in & around Gatlinburg and also Dollywood is a short drive away, which we all really enjoyed. I hope to return someday, and will definitely pick this cabin again.

Ozark Mo.We wanted seclusion.
Left on 12/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This cabin was at least twelve miles to downtown Gatlinburg which is exactly what we wanted. I recommend a low gear setting as soon as you get off the main road. It is hard to imagine how high up you will be. The view was amazing. We had turkeys pecking at our glass door. The cabin was light on pots and pans, so if you plan on any specialty cooking you will want to bring your own stuff. We had a shortage of linens but with a call to the office, they brought them quickly. We had a great time using all the cabin had to offer. Please don't forget, Gps and cell service did not work, so be prepared for peace and quiet, unless you have a teenager.

Aviston, IlAmazing honeymoon stay at the Looky Yonder!
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We wanted a peaceful, secluded cabin for our honeymoon. And we could not have been happier with our entire stay! The view was breathtaking. The cabin was completely secluded, and was so "homey" that we spent most of our time relaxing there. The cabin was spotless, and very updated. And customer service was great, and it was so simple to check in. I am hooked now, and cant wait to save for another vacation!

Greenwell Springs, LA.Fantastic honeymoon, except...
Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We absolutely loved the cabin! It was beautiful, and spacious, and breathtaking views! This was our honeymoon, and we loved the quiet and privacy this cabin gave us. We really loved the convienance that american Patriot Rentals gives its guests, by making our check in so easy, we will use your rental company again. The only downside of this particular cabin was the spider population that was quite scary at times. The webs in the master bedroom were all over the ceiling, and the very large wood spiders came to visit quite regulary. We are from the south, so to have critter visiters was expected in a cabin up in the mountains, but these were many in numbers and huge...(what were they fed!!).
I pray that you all will have that cabin checked and sprayed, before someone gets bitten.
Otherwise, we loved the cabin, and enjoyed the Smokey Mountains, and our stay with you. -

Chicago, ILWas awesome!
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This cabin was absolutely awesome. It is pretty high up in the mountains and was thankful that we brought the truck. Your view from the front is breathtaking, a full view of the Smokey's, and the view from the back is the woods, keep a watchful eye and you may see bear. We also had Turkey's and Roster's walking around. You know that there are other cabins in the area but you don't see any from this location it very private. The inside of the cabin is beautiful; it has everything you need for a week's stay. We brought our Wii and the kids were entertained in the evening. Make sure to stop at the guard house at the bottom of the mountain and get a map of the community so that you can find the pools, the one we went to was great. It was a great place to have a family vacation. This was the second time using american Patriot Getaways and they are awesome. If you have any issues with anything just call them and it will be taken cared asap.Highly recommend a+++

OklahomaAwesome Views and 3 Little Bears
Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We had a great stay! The photos and description of the cabin were accurate - clean with loads of space to stretch out indoors and out. Directions to the cabin and checkin/out couldn't have been easier. We heard/saw lots of wildlife including a mama bear and her 3 cubs who came through the yard one evening. Loved being out of town in the mountains, yet only a short drive to town and its amenities. Two comments: 1) It would be great to remove some of the spider webs on all outdoor areas and spray for bugs indoors. 2) Ensure you have a vehicle that can be placed in low gear or 4-wheel drive to get up the final drive up to the cabin (the location provides privacy and great mountain views.)

Greeneville, TNNot up to our expectations
Left on 02/09/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Our reservation clerk was extremely helpful and the location of the cabin was awesome. Away from everything. However; our dish washer did not work, the hot tub jets did not work efficiently which was extremely disappointing. The rugs were extrememly dirty and the sofa also. We had to place a sheet over the sofa to be comfortable to use it.
Response from American Patriot Getaways - 02/10/2012
Manager
I will be sure to pass your comments about our reservation staff along to the reservation manager. I apologize for the problems you had with the dishwasher and the hot tub during your stay. This is certainly not typical of our properties. I will contact the owner of the cabin about the sofa and rug. I am sorry that it didn't meet your expectations. I hope you will give American Patriot Getaways another opportunity to meet your lodging needs.

St Clair Shores, MIA Honeymoon to be remembered!!
Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I were married on 9-10-11 and Gatlinburg was at the top of our honeymoon "list" . However, since we used up all of our reserve cash for our big day, we had to wait until the last minute to make resevations. So, the day after the wedding we opened up my laptop and got on the phone with a reservationist. One by one, she walked me though the availability based on my desires and budget. After a short phone call we "settled" on this cabin. Settle is a horrible word..because it was by far the most beautiful cabin we could've stayed at! We too own a beautiful cabin in Houghton Lake mi..and quite honestly..Our place has Nothin on this view! (and we're only steps away from our pontoon and lakefront view!) We will be back, but next time, we will have our whole family with us!! Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon..To Be Remebered for sure!!

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in April 2010
This trip was our first ever vacation with our children, it took 10 years but we were finally able to get the chance to come back to Gatlinburg. We were married there 11 years ago and were excited to take pictures with our kids at the place we got married. Looky Yonder was a fantastic cabin, the kids enjoyed it more than anything! We cooked out on the grill and enjoyed the view..there was nice grassy areas for the kids to actually play and spread out and just enjoy their time there. Someday we hope to be able to afford a trip back there, we will be looking for Looky Yonder when that day comes. The cabin was clean and spacious. The kids enjoyed seeing turkeys in the driveway and the hottub was so relaxing.
