We totally enjoyed our stay at the River Cottage. We have stayed in Jackson Mountain Homes 3 times now and this is the first time I was even a little bit disappointed. When we arrived, everything we could see was clean, except for the kitchen sink and faucet. But after spending 5 minutes cleaning up, we were ready to use the kitchen! Did have a problem with the indoor jet tub not working, but someone arrived to fix it shortly after I alerted them to the problem.
We took my in-laws and it worked out wonderfully! My father-in-law enjoyed the back room with all the windows! Even I was intrigued when within 10 minutes I saw squirrels, and even a red-headed woodpecker! We also got to see a rather large black bear climb into the dumpster across the street from us, grab a bag of trash, climb back out and take off up the hill with his/her cache!
The cottage is only a couple of blocks from the main drag, so we walked most of the time. Beds were comfortable, and everyone was pleased with the accommodations! Would love to stay there again and again!
My father-in-law no longer walks, and uses a wheelchair. The cottage accommodated his needs. Did not know until we got there that there was a walk-in shower! Worked wonderfully. With the level drive and no steps, it was exactly what we needed!
We also brought our small dog and loved the fact that there was lots of grass so she could take care of her business easily!
Thanks, Jackson Mountain Homes, for another wonderful stay!

We loved this place! There was plenty of room, seemed to be very clean. Sight provided more than we were aware of such as laundry and towels. (There was 6 of us) Very easy to check in and find. The location was perfect walking distance to all activity yet tucked away from all the busy traffic. We noticed a few areas where upgrades were being made and material wasn't quite finished but nice interior decorations. The living room and bedrooms were large enough for everyone to relax and very comfortable. We hated to leave!

We recently stayed in the River Cottage in Gatlinburg. It's near everything in downtown and right on a fishing hole on the creek. Every day there were people fishing across the creek and there were a couple huge trout caught. The house was everything we'd hoped and Jackson Mountain was easy to work with. I'll be back!

This cabin was perfect, enough room for everyone and we loved not having to drive downtown. Easy walk to Gatlinburg. The directions from the office were wrong but once we used out GPS we found it with no trouble. Kids loved watching the fishermen in the mornings. Clean and comfortable, everything we expected, will stay there again Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at River Cottage. We are glad that you enjoyed it stay and are so sorry to hear that you experienced any difficulty in locating the home. We have reviewed our directions and found them to be accurate. We understand that it can be a challenge to drive in an unfamiliar place, especially when many of our guests arrive after dark. We provide a detailed map, including turn-by-turn directions with mileage, as well as the cabin address, which can be used in conjunction with our map, to make locating your cabin as easy as possible. Typically after the initial drive to the cabin, guests have no problem driving to and from the cabin. We hope this was this case during your stay and hope to see you again soon.

We have stayed at River Cottage 9 out of the past 10 years. I love the updates that have been done except for the dining room table and chairs. They are the high top table and chairs and are very hard for short people and elderly people to get in and out of. Please look in to replacing it. Also, needs a little attention to the bathrooms. Other than that, the house is great. We love sitting on the deck. Looks as if you're sitting in the middle of the Little Pigeon River. Have already rented it for next year. Can't wait to go back. Shout out to Michelle in the office. She is great.

River Cottage is a lovely place to vacation. It is clean, spacious, decorated tastefully and has everything you need to be comfortable. The location is excellent. You can enjoy nature from the deck overlooking the river, walk a few blocks to downtown and drive a few blocks to the entrance of the park. I'm sure most vacationers don't care but, as a business person, I do wish it had internet accessibility. However, Jackson Mountain Rentals went out of their way to accommodate by internet needs at their office. And a special thanks to the owner for recognizing the importance of our family dog. Barkley had a great time watching the ducks, squirrels, blue heron and beavers from the safety of the deck.

We had a great stay in the River Cottage. We were there to see the Gaither's over Memorial Day weekend, and our cottage was within walking distance to everything in town. Barbeque within a 2 minute walk yum!!! We were lucky enough to have 2 black bears visit on one very special night outside the back deck. That just put the icing on the cake for our vacation. We have told many family members about this cottage and would recommend it to all. Can't wait to return.

This home is in a great location, you can walk to everything in Gatlinburg. Home is old but well maintained, very spacious. We had 6 adults and 1 teenager and had plently of room. My only complaint is check out time, would rather see 12:00 instead of 10:00.

we stayed at the river cottage downtown Gatlinburg, the service we received was great, the people at the office was so nice to us, they made us feel like they really liked us and cared about us, the home was great, i love the layout and size, my husband is having problems with walking and the location was good for him, and we had everything in the house we needed, if there was one thing i could change to the home, i would have blinds put on the windows in the sunroom, but all around i loved it and will be staying there again, i dont stay anywhere when i come to Gatlinburg but the Jackson mountain homes, i have always been very satisfied with their home, and cant see staying anywhere else, and i always tell all my friends how great the homes are, and how well they have them furnished and how nice and caring the people are, thank you all so very much for such a great trip, hope to see you again soon, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all and may God bless each one of you!

We really enjoyed our stay at River Cottage. This house was so warm and inviting. River Cottage was very clean and neat and right on the river stream, they even had our Christmas tree set up for us.The Hot Tub was working and ready to use. We were right downtown available to everything. We will come back to this house for our next stay and would refer anyone who is interested enjoying their stay in Gatlinburg to stay here. I have vacationed in Gatlinburg for 15 years and never saw a bear but on our last night there we were in the hot tub enjoying our last night and low and behold here come a giant black bear right beside our hot tub, he (the bear) went about his way and left us alone but talking to the neighbor next door he said its their local bear and he was harmless. Never the less it made our trip to see that big black bear.

The house was exactly as advertised. Lots of room and all the necessary essentials, towels, sheets, pillows, start up soaps, etc.
Only one concern. The fireplace in the living room went out and the repair man came, had it going, and it went out again about 30 minutes later. We didn't want to bother anyone on a holiday weekend so we just let that go. My only concern was the gas connection but after I called the emergency number, I got an immediate call back and was assured the gas had an auto shut off. My house is total electric so I am not used to gas.
We hope to stay here again. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at River Cottage. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and apologize that you experienced a problem with the fireplace. Loved the convenience to Gatlinburg attractions. We didn't need to drive anywhere once we got there. Outside view is nice but maybe some blinds for privacy? Saw a black bear on porch next door while in hottub - twenty feet away. Don't leave any food in your car or outside. Overall I would recommend this rental.

We have stayed at River Cottage for 8 years. We love this place. It is so close to downtown Gatlinburg you can walk anywhere you want to. The deck is wonderful for just sitting and relaxing and watching the Little Pigeon River. Each of the 3 bedrooms have their own bath plus there is a 1/2 bath. Glad to see the new furniture on the deck. Only suggestions I have are to clean or replace carpet and place some towel rings/racks in bathrooms.

We had a mixed group and needed a 3 bedroom 3 bath place and since two in our party of 4 were 75 we needed some where that was an easy walk to the convention center since we were playing bridge all week and this place was it. There were ants in one of the bathrooms but other than that, it couldn't have been any better, glad it was my bathroom. Hope to make the same arrangements for next year during the bridge tournamment.

We come to Gatlinburg at least 2-3 times a year...sometimes more. We have stayed many times down the street from River Cottage. We had noticed it before and commented that it would be so convenient for us. We like to bring our two small dogs and there are not many nice places that accept them.
We had been hesitant in the past to stay in River Cottage because of the size. There are just the two of us and we didn't need a 3 bedroom place. We noticed that there was a special going on and we decided to try it.
We are so glad that we did. It was much more than we expected. It was so comfortable and we felt at home right away. It was one of the most relaxing visits that we have spent anywhere. The view from the great room was amazing and in just a few steps we were right downtown. It was so clean and inviting. It was also equipped with everything that you would possibly need to make your stay enjoyable. We only had one thing that we would have liked better. The expansive windows overlooking the Little Pigeon River were awesome but at night it would have been nice to have some roll down bamboo blinds to give you a little privacy. We thought with that type of blinds you could roll them up and never know they were there in the daytime. We were on display a little too much with a hotel right behind us facing the great room.
Melanie was a super agent and even let us extend for another day at a special price. I guess there was one other big problem...we had to leave and go home!
Oh well! We liked it so much that we booked a long weekend in May to come back with our daughter. We can't wait to get there.

I would like to share a secret with anyone who might
like to stay in the Smokey's. If given the chance a
stay at the River Cottage is one of the finest parts
of the journey. After driving for over 16 hours
straight it was wonderful to walk into this lovely
cottage on the river. This was our fourth time
staying there and it feels like a home away from
home. Close to town, easy to find and most of all
right next to the base of the Smokey's. Weather
taking a drive or walking in town, you will find it a
fabulous stay. Enjoy!

We stayed at the River Cottage for four nights. We had a wonderful time and the cottage was clean and very roomy. We had to call the maintenance man for the gas fireplace in the bedroom but was easy to start after he showed us. The only gripe I have with this place was there are many windows in the living room/dining room. There is a hotel facing this room and other homes. There were no curtains/blinds and was very open. People could stand on the balcony of the hotel and watch us watching tv, eating, etc. We would request they put curtains up so the renters can enjoy their privacy, would have made the experience the best. Read more
Thank you for your comments – we are glad to hear that you had a wonderful time. We will pass your request along to the owner. The openness of the living area with the many windows is what attracts many renters, as well as the owners, to this home. In the summer months there is more foliage which makes it feel more private and being on the river here is so breathtaking. We hope you able to visit again soon!

Cabin very nice, clean carpet and good variety of kitchen tools and dinnerware. Location is great for those who want to walk to downtown and riverview is great.
Only negative was dining table which had a sticky surface. We tried to clean it but would not come off with soap and warm water.

This has been the 8th time we have stayed at River Cottage over the past 6 years. We love to sit on the deck and watch the river and the ducks. The location is wonderful. Within walking distance of everything!! We love the fact it has 3 bedrooms (2 masters) and 3 1/2 baths. Each bedroom has it's own bath. The den area is great with all the windows looking out over the river and a fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped and the deck has a gas grill. The only negative we had was the carpet needed cleaning or replacing desparately. Also, some of the vegitation below the house and deck needs to be trimmed back as it is growing up the side of the house and deck. It has begun to block some of the view from the deck. Overall though, we love the house and location and have already scheduled our time for next year.

We just returned from another wonderful vacation in the Smokies and again stayed in our favorite rental. This home had changed management so it took some work to find it again, but was well worth the effort. There were seven of us and we had plenty of room to spread out. We don't eat many meals in, only lunch, but the kitchen is very well equipped. What we most enjoy are the large family room overlooking the creek and the proximity to downtown Gatlinburg. We had plenty of parking for three vehicles. Having a washer and dryer is also great so we don't cart dirty laundry home. This house will continue to be our first choice when visiting the Gatlinburg area, it just feels like home.

We were very happy with this home. It is secluded yet right in town. The setup of the home was perfect for each individual in our family, especially with each bedroom having its own bathroom. That cut down tremendously on anyone "waiting" to get a shower or get ready to go out. My husband and I had the master, my stepdaughter and my grandaughter (7 months) had the bedroom across the hall and my son had the bedroom on the opposite side of the home. This gave everyone their privacy. The view from the deck is absolutely gorgeous. I had checked into hotels and we would have had to rent 3 separate rooms to accomodate everyone. The rental rate for this house was far less than 3 hotel room would have been. I have been vacationing in Gatlinburg since I was 3 years old and it is nice to finally find a place that is not only very clean, but right in town. The pictures don't do this house justice; there were times when I just wanted to stay at the house since it was so cozy and homey.
I have recommended this property to my family members.
The staff at Jackson was so very helpful and very nice.
The only thing I would suggest to change would be the checkout time of 10 am, although I know the cleaning service does have a schedule to keep.
We will definitely stay at this property in the future.
