The cabin is in a nice location and is designed well. However the sleeper sofa needs a new mattress as the current one is ripped completely down the seam. One of the King beds in the lower level also needs a new mattress. You can feel the springs and it sinks so low in the center it is obvious it has been this way for quite some time. For the price of this cabin I felt like it should have been better kept, even the loveseat felt as though it had been heavily abused. The bed linens also need to me placed, the were all past due for replacements. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Smoky Bear Lodge. We hope you enjoyed your stay and apologize that it was anything less than perfect. We are pleased to say that both the king bed and sleeper sofa are being replaced. Also, we will assess the love seat. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention and your understanding. We hope to see you again soon!

Lodge was clean and inviting.
Plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 young teenagers.
View was outstanding.
Driveway was steep and scary.
Laundry facilities were convenient.
Nice to have a pancake griddle.
Hot tub soothed these 75 year old bones each nite after some strenuous mountain climbing...to grotto falls and clingman's dome.
Perfect weather. No rain till middle of nite the morn we left.
Close to gatlinburg tourist traps. Kids loved that.
Concerned about large holes in deck posts from pileated woodpeckers.
After hours ck in was easy...with late ck in packet.
Ample towels and basic paper supplies were provided...tp and paper towels.
Not a warm blanket in downstairs sofa bed linen supply chest. There was only a small throw.
Jacuzzi would not turn off completely at night. We left it turned off at fuse when we left.
It also gathered a lot of foam when the jets were turned on. My son says there is something that can be added to the water to prevent suds from forming...and clogging the overflow drain.
Everyone from age 10 to 75 appreciated having free access to wifi!!!
We also enjoyed some of the old fashioned table board games.
Privacy between all 4 bedrooms was good. Great to have separate bathrooms for each family.
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Smoky Bear Lodge. We are happy to hear that you had a great Father's Day Weekend! We will have the deck posts assessed and install a blanket for the downstairs sofa bed. The hot tub does stay on 24 hours a day so that the water continues to circulate, which maintains the appropriate chemical level and water temperature. Foam can form in the hot tub due to oils, soaps and other products on our bodies or clothing. We do recommend showering each time before you enter a hot tub. Thank you again for taking the time to review your stay and we look forward to seeing you in the future!

Not up to Jackson Mountain standards.

Smoky Bear Lodge was my fourth stay at a cabin managed by Jackson Mountain Homes. The cabin has potential, but it is definitely not up to par in what I have grown to expect from Jackson Mountain. This cabin is in desperate need of carpet cleaning where it is quite obvious dogs have used the lowest floor as a place to go to the bathroom (the lowest floor smelled like ammonia during our stay). The stairs are quite dirty, as are the light colored rugs in the living and dining rooms. Upon checking in we found potato chips on the floor from prior guests which while not a huge issue in itself, further proved that either the company or their cleaning crew is not adhering to their own standards.
The cabin is overall fine, decent view from the deck. One thing you should be aware of that is not discussed is that the driveway is extremely steep and has terrible access. To gain access to the driveway, most vehicles need to pass by the driveway, make a u-turn, and approach from the opposite direction. It is definitely not a cabin I would want to stay in if the weather may result in ice on the asphalt.
As always, the check-in process was extremely easy. Stop by the Jackson Mountain office, give your name, and you are handed a packet with keys, directions, and miscellaneous other information. In and out in under five minutes.
If the cabin's carpet is thoroughly cleaned and the weather is decent, I would consider staying in the cabin again.
The "bear proof" trash cans may appear to be locked but they are not an obstacle for bears. On three separate occasions we had a bear visit and open the lid that we had confirmed was "locked." Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Smoky Bear Lodge. We are very sorry to hear that this stay was not up to the standards that you have come to know and expect from Jackson Mountain Homes. We have scheduled the cabin for carpet cleaning and will address this with the housekeepers. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and your understanding. Thank you for your kind words. We sincerely hope that you will choose Smoky Bear Lodge in the future.

Smokey Bear Lodge is very clean and comfortable. Lots of kitchen space w/plenty of room to entertain your guests. Beds comfortable & rooms a good size. The full baths w/each room was extremely nice with great privacy factor.
Would definitely recommend this place for getting away from it all.

This house was very comfy... but a little used. Other homes we have rented were newer. The floor squeeked badly! The location was great, being a short drive to downtown. There were several wasps over the hot tub and one of the girls got stung. Jackson mt Homes charged us for dogs... when I I clearly stated we do not have dogs. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Smoky Bear Lodge. We hope that you enjoyed your stay and apologize that you experienced a problem with wasps. We hope the girl who was stung is okay. With the excessive heat and rainfall we have been experiencing, we have seen an increase in the number of wasps and other insects. In addition to the regular monthly pest control, we have had the cabin treated again. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and your understanding. Unfortunately, as per our policies, because you were already paid in full, we were not able to refund you when you decided not to bring your pet. We hope that you will choose Jackson Mountain Homes in the future.

The people at Jackson Mountain Homes were very nice and check in was very easy. Our family of 12 stayed here for Christmas. We liked the fact that it had four bedrooms and 4 baths. We loved the fireplace, hot tub, pool table and great views. The cabin was very clean.

Smokey Bear Lodge was an okay house. The layout is nice. There were only a few issues that we had during out stay and one was the very squeaky floors. I know hard wood squeaks but just a note to those who are in the downstairs bedrooms...bring ear plugs. It seemed to help the family members staying in those rooms. We love the area this cabin is in. This is our second stay in the area and it is great! There was only one other issue, the driveway is crazy! It was easier for us to have a spotter and back up the driveway with the vehicles that we would be using in the front. We even managed to get 2 cars and 2 Suv's parked. All in all it was a nice place and we all enjoyed ourselves. Jackson Mountain Homes has always been fabulous to us! The best customer service I have ever dealt with.

A great place to get away and relax with our sons and their families. Cabin was well equipped and the view was beautiful. Next time we will probably come a different week, because the area was sooo crowded. Driveway to the cabin is a little tricky compared to others we have stayed in at Black Bear.

Overall cabin is nice. Location in Black Bear Falls is probably one of the better ones - other cabins very close behind and the road in front but a fair view of the mountains. For price this owner charges they could afford to provide better linens and pillows! Kitchen was crowded for two of us so I can't imagine what it would be like with a big crowd. Nice that it was pet friendly but if your pet wants grass to potty on this isn't the cabin for him/her. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Smoky Bear Lodge. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. While we do use higher grade linens than most rentals or hotels, we do understand that they may not be as plush as your personal towels. Most guests find that the kitchen being open, provides a roomy feel. We apologize that you did not. We agree that there is not a great deal of grassy yard area for pets in a log home community such as this. We have cabins with more grassy areas for pets and even some with fenced yards. When you are ready to reserve for your next vacation or getaway, be sure to tell the reservationists you prefer a cabin with a yard and they will be happy to help you choose the perfect cabin.

The pictures are accurate and the cabin is beautiful. We treat our grown children and their children (we are a family of 12) to an annual vacation each MLK weekend. Gatlinburg is a great place. Jackson Mountain Homes was wonderful to work with. Our only regret was we were not all able to eat at the same time as cabin sleeps twelve but only seats 8. Great place for 8. Driveway was challenging due to steep incline.

Jackson Mountain Homes has been a place that we have stayed at before. We chose this place in the beginning because they allow us to bring our dogs! We loved it so much we have gone back every year, even got married there! For the last 2 years we have brought back our entire family including, moms & dads, Aunts, Uncles and neices & nephews! Jackson Mountain touched my heart this year the most because they went above & beyond to help us when our dog strayed away! One of the kids left the door open and no one realized the dog got out until an hr later. Jackson Mountain Homes helped locate her and I am forever grateful to them. They are wonderful and their cabins are beautiful! Great times, great fun!

My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer in December of 2009 so we decided that we wanted to have all the family together one last time. We could not have been more pleased with our choice. The cabin was very spacious, clean and the scenery could not have been more beautiful. We really enjoyed ourselves. My husband passed away in September and just a few days before he said it was one of the best vacations we had ever taken.

The cabin was great!

The cabin was great and the kids loved the pool table. Lots of room for our big family. The only downfall to this cabin is the driveway. It is a very sharp and steep incline. I think this should be advertised in the rental details of the cabin somewhere. If someone is unable to back up or out of a steep incline then it would be difficult to stay here.

We came down for four nights as a last minute getaway to enjoy spring break and absolutely loved the house and location. The weather couldn't have been nicer and we were pleasantly surprised that in spite of it being Easter the crowds were not all that bad. I loved the close proximity to Smokey Mtn. National Park which is the best thing to see down there. It was also wonderful that we could bring our dogs who also very much enjoyed the trip.

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. While this was large for us, 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs, it was wonderful. One thing is that is you have dogs that require to go out quite often this may not be the place. Our 6 month old puppy had to be coaxed into a very small grassy area that made thing s little difficult. Luckily Jackson Mountain recommended a great kennel for her for the majority of our stay in order to make the stay a bit less stressful. Our older dog handled the small area just fine (they are both large breed dogs). The driveway was very tricky. My husband has a truck and to make the turn into the driveway was a little difficult. While this is 2 complaints everything else was AWESOME. We spent so much time in the jacuzzi and playing pool we had to force ourselves to leave and enjoy Gatlinburg. We now want to come backj and stay and our contemplating staying right back at this home again. The location was also great with close proximity to downtown Gatlinburg and area grocery stores. I would definitely recommend this for large/small groups. It truly was a memorable vacation.

We spent last fall in this area with 8 other couples, we really like the set up and how clean the places were. Christmas of 2009 we decided to give this as a gift to our daughters and their boyfriends. It was everything we wanted, the the weather agreed with us also (60's).
I like the set-up for the rooms and the openess in the living and kitchen areas.
The Hot Tub also worked great. The location is nice, close enough to downtown Gatlinburg and yet a fast exit to get into Pigeon Forge.
Looking forward doing it again soon.

Wonderful Christmas Gathering

Service was great! We immediately received a call to see that the cabin met our expectations and the verify any possible problems (there were none). The cabin's floorplan was perfect for our large family gathering. Everyone had enough "personal space" with the many bathrooms and tv's in each room. The gameroom was a big hit with the men and the kitchen was large and was equipped with everything needed including a large crockpot that came in really handy. When everyone was out during the day we knew a meal was cooking at the cabin for that night. Beautiful view and minutes away from everything that we wanted to see and do. Loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the double porches- what a view!! We also greatly enjoyed soaking in the hottub after a whole day of sightseeing. Although making the turn into the drive was a little tricky at first, it would not keep us from wanting to make a return visit to the cabin. IT WAS PERFECT for our family. We also appreciated that it was decorated for Christmas upon our arrival.

THANKSGIVING in The Smokey's

We always enjoy our time in Gatlingurg. The Smokey Bear Lodge was very comfortable, the view was exceptional. My grandchildren and their parents took long walk thru the area. They saw some wild turkeys. Jackson Mountain Homes called to see if we needed anything. Everything about the chalet suited all of our needs. What I liked most was of course the amazing view, what I liked the least was the driveway. We will certainly try to rent the chalet again.

Because of a flash flood warning, we were relocated to this home for one night while the the waters receded. Although smaller than our primary location, the home was comfortable and accomodating for our needs. The driveway can be somewhat challenging for a night arrival.
