IndianapolisGreat Place to Get away
Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This was our second time staying at Luxury Lookout. The cabin is outstanding. The main floor is extremely cozy and is complete with a kitchen, flat screen tv, fireplace that turns on with the touch of a button, and bathroom/bedroom leading out to a balcony looking over the mountains. The balcony is complete with a hot tub and unobstructed view of the mountains. The top floor had a second bathroom along with a shower, jacuzzi tub, pool table and another balcony with amazing views. Both times we have stayed the cabin has been extremely, clean, warm and inviting. It is also a quick drive to downtown Gatlinburg but far enough away not to be affected by the hustle and bustle. You can even sneak in a round of golf at the course just a minute away. We highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a great spot to spend a few days in the mountains.

I was thrilled to find a pet friendly, secluded cabin with the amenities that this one has when I was looking for cabins a few months ago. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but the minute we walked in my husband and I felt at home - it didn't take long for our dog to settle in either. The decor in the cabin was great and the views are outstanding. There were tons of dishes, pots, and pans so I won't be bringing any the next time we visit. The road to the cabin is fully paved but was rather narrow for our big, extended cab truck; however, we made it to and from our cabin with no problems...most people will slow down and move over when they see an oncoming vehicle. Getting out of the driveway was somewhat of a pain as well since we couldn't turn around. After backing out a few times and going up the road to do a 3 point turn, we got the hang of it. It was my husband's first time visiting the Smokies but we liked the cabin so much that we spent most of our time there. The only issue we had was the backing up of water in the main floor shower, but that was ok because we had an upstairs shower. We had no problem checking in or checking out - just hated that we had to check out so early. My husband and I are already discussing another trip and are planning to stay in this cabin again. The cabin was a perfect mountain getaway. It was the right price and in the perfect location.

We enjoyed our stay at Luxury Lookout so much! My husband and I lead very busy lives and getting away alone almost never happens, but we were able to come to Gatlinburg for a week and we were so pleased with our choice of cabin! It was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious! There were plenty of great kitchen essentials to cook with, including wine glasses and a cork screw! We would certainly stay here again and would (and have) recommend it to anyone coming to the mountains for some R&R;!! You won't be disappointed.

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This was the first time in 6 years that my husband and I went on a vacation that was just the 2 of us. We ended up takeing our two dogs, Bosley and Charlie, along too. (didnt want to put them in kinels or find a house sitter) This year we decided to chose a differant cabin since the one that we always stayed in had sold. We have always chosen Jackson Mountain Homes and have always been very satisfied with everything!! The customer service was wonderful!! This cabin was well worth every penny. We spent most of our time in the cabin. The veiw was awesome. The location was great too. It was secluded, which was what we wanted. You could sometimes hear the neighbors but you never seen them. The cabin had everything that you could need for a stay!! It was very well stocked and clean!! My husband and I enjoyed it so much that we called twice to extend our stay!! If I could change anything...It would have to be the grill. Yet, even that wasnt a really bad thing. Over all, best week we have had in a long time!!! Thanks Jackson Mountain Homes!!!

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My wife and I were looking for a rental cabin for a 10th wedding anniversary trip near Smoky Mtn National Park. We were hoping to find one that had three important aspects: privacy, a great view, and a nice place. Luxury Lookout hit it out of the park! The cabin was well maintained, clean and very nice. It was very secluded which was important to us. The view was fantastic. We probably spent 90% of our time at the cabin on the deck looking at the view. We were disappointed when it was time to leave. There were other cabins in the area that were less expensive, but I feel the extra cost was worth it. If we find ourselves looking for a cabin in that area again, we'll certainly check Luxury Lookout first!

The cabin was awesome. Everything was just as good or better than the pictures show. It was very secluded and relaxing. Had a wonderful time. Only complaint I can even think of is getting in and out of the driveway, but I'm not used to mountain driveways so...

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My family and I stayed here at the beginning of august and it was wonderful. The view itself would be enough to make it great, but the house was cozy and fun as well. We have one daughter who slept on the fold out in the living room, but it would be great for a few kids with both couches being fold outs. Lovely accomodations; we will be back when we can stay longer!
Jackson Mountain homes staff was great as they usually are. My husband and I have been renting from them for 10 years now. -

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We spent three nights at Luxury Lookout...two adults, two kids and two dogs. The house was immaculate and the views were amazing. According to my sons though, the pull out sofa beds were not at all comfortable so they just ended up sleeping on the couches not pulled out for the 2nd and 3rd nights. The only gripe I really have though was that there is just no flat ground at the house which does present a bit of a problem when you have dogs with you! But overall, a great time in a beautiful house.

The pros are numerous and we would definitely stay here again. The con is that there is no flat area at all around this place. I guess that's obvious now that we've been there and it's a mountain view, but with kids and a dog they were limited to the driveway.

this cabin was even more wonderful than the photos. The view was breath taking- that alone makes it worth every penny! The cabin was very clean and the staff was very friendly when we had questions. Be ready to drive up some steam and narrow roads to get the cabin- it was a bit tricky to find at first. everything in the cabin seemed brand new and very well taken care of. Plenty of towels, soap, dishes ect. Best part was being so close to go hiking and to downtown yet you couldn't see another cabin! the only slight problem we had was that the hot tub stayed to hot and we couldn't get the temperature to go down- it stayed at 110*

Friendship, IndianaPerfect spot to unwind and disconnect!
Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We were looking for a secluded cabin away from Gatlinburg that did not feel like it was situated in a "cabin subdivision". Luxury Lookout was recommended by the staff at JMH, and it was perfect! The lack of high-speed internet and lack a cell signal actually forced us to disconnect, which was the best thing for us! I was actually able to finish reading a book without interruption! We loved the attention to detail in the cabin and the view was awesome - we could actually see the mountains even at night, thanks to the full moon! A recommendation we would have would be to include a cable listing guide in the information book at the cabin. And, we were concerned about the fact that the wood bees were having a real feast on the home - is there a way to seal the logs to prevent damage from them? We told ourselves repeatedly through the few days we were at Luxury Lookout that we would be back. Now, to find some time in the schedule...

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Luxury Lookout. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hate to hear you experienced any problems with the wireless internet. The modem and router needed to be re-set, but are working properly now. The wood bees are a downside of living in a wood home in the mountains, and we will spray for them again. Fortunately, they are only a problem in the spring! We would love to have you stay with us again, so when you find time in the schedule just give us a call and we'll get you taken care of! Thank you, Jackson Mountain Homes

My wife and I have vacationed at Luxury Lookout two years in a row. We plan to come back next year. The cabin is awesome and in a private location. It is very well mantained with all new appliances. We highly reccomend staying at this cabin. We liked it so much we only went to town once in three nights. Jackson homes is a great company. They have a simple system and the employees are very nice and helpful. The prices are very fair and for what you get I would not bother trying another company. So all around this is a great way to spend a vacation.

This was our 3rd stay with Jackson Mountain. Luxury Lookout is a great cabin - private location, spotless, organized and seems brand new! There is no wasted space. We enjoyed the fireplace and upper balcony to watch the sunsets. If you are traveling with pets, keep in mind that there is not much yard space so it's a bit of a walk to take them out. This cabin is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Gatlinburg, but we love being outside of town - that's the whole reason we go to the Smokey mountains!

After staying in multiple cabins in the area, I can honestly say that this was my favorite cabin of all time!! The cabin is clean, modern, and gorgeous- everything worked perfect and I really enjoyed having the security alarm. Also the cabin was very private and secluded.
The best feature is the view itself! You literally feel like you are enveloped in the mountains themselves. There is no way for the pictures to actually do the view justice. Phenomenal! Already looking forward to booking this cabin again in a few months- I dont ever want to stay anywhere else. -

This is our second stay at Luxury Lookout (fifth stay with JMH) and we absolutely love everything about it. It is private, has a wonderful view, an alarm system, and all the amenities. Check-in is quick and easy with JMH and they always call to make sure everything is in order when we arrive.
The location of this home is about 15 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, but that is part of the allure; it forces us to relax! This home is perfect for a couple since it has just one bedroom, but there are two bathrooms and sofa sleepers that would accomodate a family of four. We didn't bring our pets, but noticed that the yard isn't accessible. The driveway is wide and the road above is rarely travelled so a short walk would be no problem. If you are looking for a great place to relax in peace and quiet...away from town, this is it! -

This was one of the best vacations my husband and I have had. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The views are incredible and there was plenty of privacy which was exactly what we were looking for. It is a little bit of a drive into town but the drive was not bad. We cooked most of our meals in the cabin. Kent, OHSerene, great view and worth the drive from town
Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
It's nice to get away from all the carnival that downtown G'burg has become. Some may think it's too far out from town, but I think the drive is worth it. In fact, I found it to be very relaxing driving back to the cabin at night with all of nature's summer sounds. The evening sky view is superb because there is no interference from the city lights. Also, if you are going to spend a lot of time in the Glades, it's a lot more convenient to stay out that way.
There are two reasons why it didn't rate 5 star, though:
1. the second floor would be a much better second bedroom than a pool table room. Especially with the jacuzzi there. Sort of an awkward combination.
2. The outdoor grill was a joke. It's something I would expect to see in a poorly funded community park.
On the fix-it list please include:
•replace the bedroom deck door draperies--you can't enjoy the view during the day because the drapes won't raise up
•is there really not a shower in the master bath? never could find the lever to switch to the shower, if there was one
•deck furniture needs to be replaced..badly

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Luxury Lookout! We will forward your suggestions regarding the layout, draperies and deck furniture to the owners. The grill is the kind you find at a park and we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. There is a shower in the master bath -- it may be that it is the kind where the shower mechanism is located in the faucet spout and must be pulled down to activate the shower. We hope that you will choose to stay with Jackson Mountain Homes, Inc. again in the future.

We stayed at the Luxury Lookout for 4 relaxing days. The May weather was rainy and hindered the otherwise gorgeous view, but we needed solace and quiet after a family tragedy. The view from the large comfortable bed was wonderful even in the rain. This cabin was just perfect for what we needed. One previous review said it was too far from town, but that wasn't too much of an issue for us (about 20 minutes). The solitude was worth it.

My husband and I stayed at Luxury Lookout from the end of april to the beginning of May as a belated honeymoon. The weather was almost perfect (except for a few storms on our first couple of nights). The cabin was amazing, we didn't want to leave!! The views were great and there weren't any neighbors too close by. The only complaint I can think of would be that the grill doesn't have a cover so it's a little difficult to get food to the desired wellness/temperature. There could also stand to be a few more pans in the kitchen for baking. But the cabin itself is wonderful! We also had our dog with us, we were able to walk her to the end of the road (which isn't too far away) to let her potty on relatively flat land. We enjoyed our stay and all the staff we dealt with at Jackson Mountain Homes were wonderful! They were very helpful in the booking process and once we got there. We will definitely be back!!

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The cabin is so pretty and the view is great but it is a long drive to downtown (about 20-25 minutes one way). It is tastefully decorated and fairly new. Since there were no leaves on the trees we didn't have full privacy on the deck with the hot tub. I was disappointed with that.
We also didn't know about the "time of year" for lady bugs. When we arrived there were a mass of dead lady bugs everywhere!! They continued to be a nuisance the entire weekend.
As much as we loved the cabin itself, we will not stay here again for lack of privacy, distance to town and the bug issue.
I will rent again from Jackson Rental. They were extremely nice at check in and even called us the morning after our arrival to see if we were happy with our accomodations. They did send someone out to clean up the dead lady bugs the day after our arrival but the bugs continued to be bad our entire weekend stay.Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 03/10/2011

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review regrding your recent stay at Luxury Lookout. We hope that you enjoyed your stay and apologize that your stay was anything less than perfect. Luxury Lookout is considered to be one of our most private 1 bedroom cabins. We apologize that you didn't feel it was as private as previous guests felt. We agree that the lady bugs can be a nuissiance. Unfortunately, pest control has little effect on them. They take refuge during cold weather in any warm crack or crevice of a home around doors, windows, between logs and/or any other place that they can gain access to warmth. When spring arrives or a warm sunny winter day they emerge only to find that they went the wrong way and found themselves trapped inside the house. The best way to deal with them is to sweep or vacuum them up and tie them inside a plastic bag. During the summer months they are not as bad. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you again!

We loved our cabin!!!
The place was beautiful and well maintained.
The appliances were great. Huge Fridge and loved all the cooking utensils and vessels.
We loved having the Comcast "On Demand" on the Huge TV. It made it nice to snuggle on the couch in front of the gorgeous fireplace.
A couple minor dislikes:
The ladybugs were everywhere. But I know it's the season for them.
We didn't like how far from the city the cabin is. It might be helpful to list XX miles from Gatlinburg on the description.
Also, although we were there to relax, the lack of cell service was sort of a pain. But the wireless internet made up for it!
All in all it's a great place!! and the best part, We never once saw a bear!!!

Great location, could not see one neighbor at all during the summer with leaves on the trees. Great golf course at the bottom of the "mountain." Only bad thing is it's about 8 miles out from Gatlinburg, but we didn't mind that at all.

Luxury Lookout was absolutely perfect. The view was amazing, the cabin was amazing! Definately worth the 10 hour drive from Milwaukee. We will be back for many years to come.
