We have rented from mountain laurel for several years. This was the 1st time I was disappointed!! The view was told to be spectacular but it was not!! The driveway was awful. I called to try and change cabins because a few days upon arrival I tore my calf muscle and this cabin had a flight of stairs!! The person was not friendly at all nor sympathetic!!
The chalet was clean and had everything we needed to have a wonderful stay. The pictures were accurate representations and we had no surprises awaiting us. Mountain Laurel Chalets' staff was very kind, very quick, and professional. They were friendly and helped us with any questions we had. The view from this chalet is simply amazing! Our boys loved watching the tram go up and down the lines and we enjoyed the breathtaking view of the mountains. Very enjoyable; we would certainly return!
Relaxing and peaceful!!
Very nice cabin with a good view. Peaceful time of relaxation and easy access to Gatlinburg. Cabin has everything you could possibly need (except food)... Will definitely try to book with Mountain Laurel Chalets in the future! Read more

Excellent stay from 07/09/12 - 07/12/12! All the familly enjoyed the beautiful cabin and the great view.
The cabin is very spacious and have all you need for a unforgetable experience. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need.
We can not wait to do it again!
Thanks again for a great time!
wonderful view of tram!!
We have stayed with MT. laurel for years. But this chalet was a big let down.
Spiders were all over and when something was said to office. The ladies were
Very understanding but the man whom they had me speak to was not.
He told us that "well you are in the mountains" and the last night
We stayed we went to use whirlpool tub down stairs and black stuff came out of
The jets. (It was late and our last night, so the office did not have time to fix it) The chalet needs a paint job and a good cleaning. Other than that we
Had a wonderful time and we will stay at mt laurel again. As we have every year since 2000. Just not at this chalet. Will continue to tell everyone about how wonderful Mt. laurel is. Read more

Thank you for your repeated stays with us. we do appreciate your business. We are sorry that you had problems at the chalet. Our goal is to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We welcome your comments concerning the painting. We are sorry for the spiders and the whirlpool. We thank you for choosing to stay with us in the future.

Very clean chalet with great view.
We Have stayed with Mountain Laurel numerous times...always pleased. Lamar's Lair was a very clean chalet. We enjoyed it very much.
Chalet needs more bath towels and cloths than what we had but not a big deal.
This Chalet has the best and easy parking.
Great service , love the cabin just wish they didn't have the christmas decoration still out. also the cabin could have been a little cleanier. but over all enjoyed my stay there and would recommend the cabin to all my friends and other people. cant wait to come back.
Just what the Dr. Ordered!!
My family stayed this weekend at Lamar's Lair and absolutely loved it! The chalet was clean, with a great interior design. We felt so comfortable, just like home. Only wish we would have stayed for the week. The Mt. Laurel staff was so so super friendly! We will back again, soon.

Clean and Lovely
We stayed here and I don't understand the previous review. As most others on here we found the cabin exceptionally clean, which is a must with our family. It didn't look outdated to us and the view was breathtaking. Our first stay here and it will not be the last! Check in folks were friendly and welcomed our business.
Wonderful place great view very clean vacation chalet
We have rented with your co. for over 20 years and i must say our experience at this chalet was well not the best and fact we left one day early. What a disappointment
this place was, very out dated and in need of fixing up.Bed down stairs is bad, holes in doors, paint is old and in some areas really bad.I will never rent this chalet again and frankly it was not worth 160/night.The view at best was good not excellent. Read more
Response from Mountain Laurel Chalets - 10/12/2011
Thank you for your comments. The mattress upstairs was replaced just a few months ago, but we were unaware the mattress downstairs had a problem. We will check it out and see if there is a problem with the frame. Not exactly sure what you mean by old paint, but will definately take a look and see what needs to be done to improve. Will pass along the suggestion on the view.
Update to response: The view has been cleared out again and once more offers a spectacular view of Mt LeConte and the cable car going by on it's way to the ski lodge.
We arrived on July 2,2011. We was suprized how nice the chalet was. It was very close to Gatlinburg. We have stayed with Mt Laurel for serveral years now and the employees has already been very friendly and helpful. At check in this time the 4 employees was not very friendly that was there on Saturday. We had to go back to the chalet company for several different reasons on different days and the only ones that was actually friendly was the employees folding towels. I hope our next visit with the chalet company will be a better experience for us or we plan on changing chalet companies. Read more

Sorry to hear our employees were in a bad mood....that is indeed a rare occurence around here. Not sure what was going on, but the Fourth of July weekend is very stressful in general. Will look into some stress management!
I always stay with you, when I come. Thank you. Laura azzaro
Very clean chalet with gorgeous views~
We stayed in the chalet on Easter weekend 2011. The chalet was very clean and in a conveinent location. The views of the tram and Mt. Leconte were awesome! The only negative comments I have are that the plastic cover on the downstairs bed is very noisy, but the matress is super comfortable. The other thing is that there are only 2 small, outdated televisions; one in the living room and the other in the downstairs bedroom. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely return to this chalet in the future!
Our stay was wonderful. It is each time we visit which is usually on our anniversary. Mt Laurel Chalet rental is always a pleasure to deal with too and online, it is very user friendly. Thanks!
We had a great time. My wife and our 13 year old daughter along with her two 13 year old friends stayed here. We let the kids have the bottom floor with the pool table and the hot tub. It kept them occupied and worked out great. Anytime they spent at the house meant they weren't burning through $100 an hour on the street in Gatlinburg, so we were very well pleased.
Beautiful House, Beautiful View!
Lamar's Lair was nicely decorated and had all of the necessary supplies for our stay. The view of the mountains and the tram were great. I enjoyed watching the tram pass by from the deck. It would have been nice if the television sets were updated, but I don't spend that much time watching TV on vacation. The living room couch was a bit sunken in, but still comfortable. Overall, I give this house and the service of Mountain Laural an a+!
A warm and fuzzy feeling
Cabin was great, clean and neat. The only complaint i have about my trip as a whole was the T.V's were a little out dated and at one point did not work. Also the hot water didnt last long enough to fill up the jacuzzi tub. :-( ...
So good we stayed another night.
"Lamar's Lair" was clean, warm and cozy the moment we entered. Our stay was at the end of a "big" snow. Views of the valley with all the snow was, well awesome! Nightly soaks in the hot tub watching the tram to Ober were well needed after the days of shopping and one day on the slopes snowboarding.
We actually extended our stay an extra night. The staff at Mountain Laurel Chalets were most polite and accommodating.
We will stay agin and have recommended it all to our many friends.
Dennis from Cajun Country
Lamar's Lair was very comfortable and in great condition. Parking at this chalet is a breeze. The chalet is located nearly halfway up the mountain leading to Ober Gatlingberg Ski Resort. The view is average from the chalet but good be greatly improved if trees could be cut back to be able to view downtown. But, there is a great view of the Ober Gatlingberg tram which passes nearby every 20 minutes or so. I recommend going up the mountain to Ober and experiencing the great views from the tram while visiting downtown Gatlingberg. We had a great time also enjoying the beautiful leaves of fall while traveling across the Great Smokies to Cherokee and riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, we had a great time playing Golf at the area golf courses.Early one morning, I seen a Black Bear walking on the road in front of the chalet. I grabbed my camera but he took off and couldn't get a picture; maybe next time. I really enjoy coming to Gatlingberg. This is my second trip this year and I only use Mountain Laurel Chalets for my stay. Overall, Lamar's Lair is very functional and really a very comfortable Chalet for your home-away-from-home getaway.
The layout of the cabin was nice, everything functional, but some issues needed attention. The bed in the main level suite was terrible with deep body impressions and the mattress pad wouldn't stay on the bed due to an improper fit. The windows in the cabin were filthy and apparently hadn't been cleaned in some time. The interior needed painting and a smoke detector was missing downstairs. The cabin really needs an updated TV in the great room. The striker plate on the patio door off of the great room didn't align and had to be physically raised to make it catch in the keeper. The smoke detector and striker plate were reported early in the week of our stay but received no attention but it was reported again upon departure. I can't speak for any work that may have been done after our departure. This was probably the least desireable cabin of the ones we have stayed in during the last five years in the area. We enjoyed the Smokies as usual. Read more

Thanks for the review. We will take care of the maintenance and housekeeping items you mentioned and pass along the other things to the owner. We valve your business and look forward to your return.
Refreshing and relaxing location.
We were absolutely delighted with Lamar's Lair. The location along with the a very clean and beautifully appointed home was the highlight of our latest stay in Gatlinburg. Our family highly recommends Lamar's Lair and we will stay there again on our next visit. Thanks.
Ed & Ellen
We prefer a more rustic style cabin, but found Lamar's Lair very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We prefer a wood burning fireplace, but in June that wasn't an issue. The air conditioner was very effective. As always, the Mountain Laurel staff was outstanding.
a restful family vacation
We had a wonderful time at Lamar's Lair. This is our 4th or 5th annual chalet stay at Gatlinburg, and LL definitely measured up. The view is gorgeous, the parking is some of the most convenient we've enjoyed, the house was sparkling clean, and the decor was lovely. One of the few negatives was that the living room TV had a short in the cable connection and we had to regularly twist that around to get a connection, plus the TV itself was very small. The pool table was also in a small and cluttered space; almost knocked some things over trying to play our games. There is definitely some sort of plastic on the downstairs bed which makes it noisy, and the upstairs bed is needing a new mattress...the current one dips in toward the middle and quite uncomfortable. But the staff at Mountain Laurel is the best ever...so very courteous and helpful, I would stay with no other group again!! :-)
What a view!
Could be the best with a few changes!
Lamar's Lair is a lovely house and the view is the best!
Negatives: so many artificial plants, especially in the living area on
the main level - not a good thing. Also, the mattress in the downstairs
bedroom must be covered in a plastic mattress cover; it makes a lot of
Very nice & relaxing. There was a nice view & very comfortable & roomy beds. Hot tub was enjoyable & clean. Would stay again.
My husband and I along with our teenage daughter and her friend visited the cabin at the end of April for my husband's birthday.
The cabin was amazing. The amenities were wonderful, but the mountain view was the best part of it all.
We enjoyed our stay and home to come back very soon. We would recommend this home to couples or families.
Mtn Laurel Chalets are the BEST
We have stayed at several of your chalets and love them all. They are always neat, clean and stylish. None are the same. Never have to pay extra for anything. When you get your price- that is what it is. Best locations and prices are great.
We love Mountain Laurel Chalet Company
This is our 5TH time staying with Mountain Laurel Chalet Company. 3 times at Bear Watch and 2 times at Lamars Lair.
Our next trip which we do annually we will stay at Heaven Scent or Heavens Edge.
The people are pleasant and the Chalets have always been neat, clean and decorated nicely for rental property.
We love it so much we wish we could purchase one of the Chalets on Ski Mountain Road from Mountain Laurel Chalet Company!!!
Don and Sandy
Although the colors could have been better, I guess you always take chances on when the trees might turn. Our experience was great considering the weather. The Craftsman's Fair was fantastic, walking the main strip in the rain was not fun, but we did stop at Bubba Gump's which raised our spirits. Lamar's Lair was fantasic, with a couple of upgrades it would be much better. First the Hot Tube cover needs to be replaced (too heavy and awkward) the first floor bedroom needs a TV. Other than those two items everything was great.
Awesome, Memorable Experience
Stayed at Lamar's Lair during Labor Day weekend. Upon arrival, noticed that the place was immaculate and very well equipped with all that we needed. Everything worked well. Although the area was busy, the trip was everything that the doctor ordered. Had been several years since the last vacation, and it was well worth the wait. Used tactical planning to arrive the less-traveled back way through the national park, and it worked perfectly! Turned left upon arriving at Gatlinburg, light #10, easily found the office, breezed through registration with the helpful, friendly staff, got a great map to the chalet, and was there in paradise in no time! Parked and strolled the streets of Gatlinburg, visited Pigeon Forge, saw Pops who was there from Florida! Saw a bear the last morning. Spent most of the time on the back deck, soaking-up peaceful tranquility. Loved every minute of relaxation, the food, the stress-free environment. Found the back way on Wiley Oakley Drive, worked great to travel on the mountain range, to avoid Gatlinburg during the hustle-rush, and end up on the other side, headed towards Pigeon Forge or Cosby.
Will definitely revisit the area, but only wish that Mountain Laurel Chalets would demonstrate some appreciation for Military Veterans and offer a small discount, such as many of their competitors do.
Stayed at Lamar's Lair- It was exactly as described.
Was concerned about the Tram going by but was not any issue at all.
Location was ideal to Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge and of course the view.
We did see a couple of bears which added to the trip.
Renting was easy and check out was quick.

Have stayed with Mountain Laurel numerous times...always pleased. Lamar's
Lair was a very clean chalet. We enjoyed it very much.
Lamar's Lair was fun - great view.
This year we wanted a scenic view from the porch while still being close to Gatlinburg. It was fun driving up the steep roads to the chalet - it really impressed the kids. The kitchen was fully equipped but we only used it for a special dinner and breakfast otherwise the prices at Gatlinburg restaurants are reasonable enough even for a family of our size. Another reviewer thought the tram was an obtrusion of privacy but it is about a football field length away and looks cool at night with all it's lights and is a nice conversation piece while chatting on the back porch. We were sad to leave but it would be amazing to come back in the fall and see all the fall colors from that great view from Lamar's Lair.
Clean and New
Very clean and nice two-story home. Rental company people were super nice.
My family of three stayed at the cabin during February. We only regret that we couldn't stay longer! The cabin only added to the wonderful time that was to be had in Gatlinburg. We were grateful for the 3 inches of snow we woke to one morning...it gave us the oppurtunity to enjoy the cabin for an entire day. We all enjoyed playing on the pool table and we even enjoyed sitting in the Jacuzzi while the snow fell outside. The views from the cabin are great!!!We enjoyed watching the tram travel up and down the mountain. My only complaint was the smell of cigarette smoke that was noticable when we arrived; however, that smell soon dissapeared as we spent evenings cooking meals in the cabin. I highly recommend and look forward to returning again!
while the home was great, the beds were terrible. not your usual bad back type things. but the beds had gullies that you fell into and was hard to even turn over much less get out of.I have stayed at chalets of your company's and have never had mattresses like these. otherwise we really enjoyed the chalet. View was great and we will return next year for our usual stay, but we do try differnet chalets.
Thanks Dianna Harris Read more
Response from Mountain Laurel Chalets - 12/09/2008
Dianna, thanks for the comments. After your visit, we went to the chalet to inspect the bed and found that the feet underneath the middle of the bed frame were broken. We replaced those and the bed is level again. The mattresses were just purchased in July and are the nice pillow top kind.
The chalet is top drawer with a wonderful view of the tram and the mountains. View the sunrise from either deck and see the mountains glow as the sun sets behind you.
More importantly than the property itself is booking with Mountain Laurel Chalets. After bouncing around between many booking agencies for our annual October vacation to Gatlinburg we've stuck with Mountain Laurel Chalets for the last several years and are more than satisfied with the properties they represent and the way we've been treated. Book your stay with these folks and you cannot go wrong! And no, I'm not getting a price break on our next visit for this testimonial but hint-hint I wouldn't turn anything down either :).
Fantastic Mountain/Tram View!
This 2 story chalet is beautiful and has a wonderful view! We loved watching the trams travel up & down the mountain, passing right in front of us! The chalet has 2 decks (hot tub on lower), a fully stocked kitchen and a level driveway. Both bedrooms are great, but the upstairs bedroom has a lot of windows and is very bright in the mornings. Regardless, we enjoyed everything about our stay and will definitely go back!
This is a great house to spend time in.. it's what you expect in a mountain home. My only issue, and it was slight, is that there should be a tv in each bedroom. We didn't watch much tv but we like to fall asleep to tv and 1 bedroom didn't have one. Other than this, I recommend staying in this home for any vacation!
Memorable Thanksgiving at Lamar's Lair
This is a beautiful cabin located on a wooded cliff overlooking Gatlinburg. The ski lift goes up right beside the cabin, and our family enjoyed waving at the people on the lift while sitting outside in the hottub. This cabin truly made for a memorial Thanksgiving. We had plenty of room with two large king-sized beds in two rooms and two sleeper sofas - one on the gameroom and one in the den area. Our teens loved the pool table and hottub. This cabin was centrally located close to everything in Gatlinburg, and it was very convenient to places that we wanted to see and visit. We would highly recommend this cabin. It was clean and beautiful, and the view was perfect. It was also quiet and peaceful - which is one thing we wanted in a cabin or chalet. I just wished I had booked this property again this year for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I waited too late.
Chalet was very nice and comfortable. Great view and plenty of space. I would recommend this chalet to friends. the only thing i would recommend is a T.V in the upstairs bedroom.
Michael and Raina
WE had an excellent time at Lamars Liar, we stayed for a long weekend and could not ask for anything more. We both highly recommend this chalet to everyone we meet. Mount Laurel is a wonderful company to deal with and they are surprisingly easy going. Thanks for the great memories, see you guys soon.
Great master suites.
We loved the master bedrooms. Had a great view and loved the decor. The only thing was the pool table needs work.
Nice for a couple and very clean and rooms are private
Awesome, relaxing vacation
The view was serene- the home clean. It was an enjoyable stay- one we will never forget!
This chalet is very nice, and very nicely decorated. However, my husband and I prefer privacy, and the Gatlinburg AirTram thing goes right by the cabin every few minutes, and it felt like the passengers could see us all the time. Compared to where we've stayed before this chalet was not one of our favorites. We like Heaven's Edge the best!
Great Place / spectacular view
This is a wonderful place to stay. It is very private and looks out over the city of Gatlinburg. It is very well kept and has 2 master suites, a living room, a rec room with pool table and 2 luxury baths. We loved the view of the tram from the hot tub. A very romantic hideaway.
Very Nice Chalet
We loved this Chalet. It was just the two of us. I liked having the second bedroom to put all the gifts we bought and to put our luggage. We prefered to sleep downstairs closest to the Hot Tub. We loved the Covered Hot Tub.
For a romantic weekend a 1 bedroom is our first choice but we wanted to try another one to compare.
Lamar's Lair-Cabin Rental @ Gatlinburg TN
A friend recommended using Mt. Laurel Chalets in Gatlinburg TN to book our spring break stay online. We found the cabin "Lamar's Lair" on the website and it looked clean, good view, etc. When we arrived it was MUCH MORE than the online photos! It was absolutely spotless clean (even the bathroom), in excellent condition and neat as a pin. The view is absolutely gorgeous in this cabin. You can't beat it at night out in the hot tub right in the trees while the Ober Gatlinburg goes right past the cabin. We loved this cabin and would stay in it again. It had nice decor and felt comfortable to stay in. 2 bedrooms each with it's own full size bath and jacuzzi tubs-one bedroom/bath upstairs and the other down, makes it nice and private, even if you have children along on the trip. It also had pretty much anything you would need during your stay (dishes, etc). Loved the deck, the view and hot tub. We have never stayed in a cleaner place - EVER. Reasonably priced. Not TOO far up the mountain but just right for privacy.
