We really enjoyed staying at this chalet. It had the best of everything, beautifully decorated. It has a wonderful view, and within walking distance of the pool. Had everything we needed! We will be staying here again!

We loved the open space downstairs, comfortable seating, fireplace and view! Kitchen amenities were great; altho the outside grill needs to be replaced (rusty) and updated. Comfortable beds too! ...and practically level parking up to the front door (rare and appreciated :-) )

This cabin was beautiful with great views of the mountains. It was really very peaceful and cozy. We can't wait to go back and stay in the same cabin. We even saw a mamma bear and her three cubs in the driveway across the street when we pulled up to our cabin on the first day! Great stay! Highly recommend!

We have stayed in many different properties listed with Mt. Laurel Chalet and this one is one of the best. Great open spaces and wonderful views. Loved the wood floors. We will stay in this chalet again.

We have stayed in the Highlander about 5 times and will definitely book this chalet when we return in the future. It is well furnished and the view is spectacular. I also really like the location as it is easy to find and the parking is on solid ground and room enough for 2 vehicles. And last but not least, the price is excellent.

This cabin was beautiful it had everything you needed while on vacation. Hottub was very nice, it was very clean. I would definitely rent this cabin again. The service at mtn laurel is one of the best. I did not rent this cabin to begin with but had problems with the one I did rent and they transferred me to this one.

We stayed at The Highlander to celebrate our 18th anniversary and came away without a single complaint. The house was wonderful and even roomier and better than the pictures portray. The generous amount of firewood kept us cozy the entire stay and the hot tub was great, kitchen had everything we needed and more! Rarely do you get to stay in a rental unit for four nights and come away without a single complaint! The office was super nice and helpful and our view was awesome!!! This was a trip we wished could have lasted longer!!!

do investigations on you while you stay.
And she tried to charge me more

Everything was nice as usual, however, we were disappointed at the cleaniliness of facility. Dust on the pool table and other tables, hot tub didn't appear to have adequate chlorine, and floors and carpet didn't appear to have been cleaned recently.

We stayed at the highlander and love it so much, especially the closeness to the pool. The only problem we had was the hot tub wasn't working right, and also the downstaairs bedroom with bath, the bed was slanted towards the middle, so me and my husband pretty much were hanging on to the sides sleeping, so we wouldn't slide towards the middle. Other than that we loved it and look forward to staying every single year!!!
Highlander Delivers with More than Expected

This was our second time staying with Mt. Laurel Chalets, but our first time at the Highlander. Just like before, we our expectations were greatly exceeded - the photos uploaded do not do the home justice. The layout is incredibly spacious and the furnishings were gorgeous. We had small children with us and having the pool table and tv in the rec room was a blessing, this kept them occupied while we enjoyed the upstairs. We were disappointed though because I had read past reviews where the renters said they could watch the firework display put on by Gatlinburg from the deck of the Highlander which we could not. This could be from trees grown up, etc. but the fireworks cannot be seen from this deck. The home was located within a very short walking distance to the community pool / rec center which a great plus - no loading the kids up to travel to the pool, just grab your towel and mosey up the driveway. The only issues we had were 1.) the electrical receptacles did not work in any of the bathrooms (we did report this to the staff and it was fixed immediately - great maintenance service) 2.) the floors do not seem to be mopped between rentals - we cleaned the main ones in the living room and kitchen area ourselves after seeing how black the bottoms of our feet became after only a short time but it didn't help much 3.) the picture would come in and out on the TV in the living room. We definitely would book again and look forward to making the Highlander part of our family tradition.

First of all, the location of this property is remarkably convenient to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I have never stayed in a Chalet that was so peaceful, and yet so easily accessed. As opposed to some places, it really was nice to be able to go somewhere without taking 30-45 minutes to get back.
The view from this propery is fine, but certainly not spectacular (that term is extremely relative because it is the mountains after all). I have stayed in other properties that have better, but you are afforded a view looking toward Ober and the park. One bonus is that the sun is never in your face, so you can always enjoy the view, which in our case even included some bears under our deck one afternoon. Whoa!
The open floor plan and decent size kitchen make enteraining easy. The furniture is homey and comfortable. The kitchen table is beautiful and can easily seat 8. The bedrooms are nice and decorated well, each having its own bathroom.
Some negatives: This property is a bit older and shows it in certain areas. The deck, for example, is not too far from needing to be replaced. The televisions and dvd players are also dated. The landscaping is atrocious, and the building itself is not flattering. Like most rentals, the pool table needs new felt because people don't take care of it. Yet, it does appear that the owner is making attempts to udate the decor, and it is working.
If you stay here, a couple of things to bring with you: A sharp knife (lots of knives but none are sharp, which can be dangerous), a large pot (for those cooking lobster or something bigger than 2 quarts), a non-stick skillet (unless you love to clean with steel wool), and your preferred toilet paper (one-ply hotel paper should only be used in emergencies).
The Highlander is an incredible value and a lot of bang for the buck, and as always, the service from Mountain Laurel is top shelf. It is one reason we use them and why I can easily recommend this chalet.
Needed some "pre-cleaning" before I got there.

The Highlander was a very comfortable chalet, both with the furnishings and the bed mattresses. The biggest issue I had was when we got there, there were several spider webs and more dust than I expected on the furniture / light fixtures. My sister wouldn't stay in her bedroom downstairs because of all the centipedes under the bed so she slept with my mom so they were a bit crowded. Another issue I had was not being able to log into the chalet's own wireless network. With it being wireless, someone who obviously is much more savy than I am kept knocking me off and eventually I couldn't even log on at all. A bit disappointed in the overall stay as we have stayed with Mtn Laurel several times over the many years. When I mentioned these things upon check-out, I was told it was because of all the rain. ????? Not sure how centipedes, spider webs, dust, and unavailable wireless has to do with rain. Read more
Response from Mountain Laurel Chalets - 10/16/2009
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our housekeepers do their very best in the available time they have to service houses between guests. We also have cleaning inspectors who go behind the housekeepers to double check the houses before each arrival. Unfortunately, things do get overlooked from time to time. We regret if the house was not up to par and would have been happy to reservice the house had we known about these issues.
The internet is provided by our local cable company and it does have a few pitfalls, but overall works pretty well most of the time and is a very popular feature with our guests.

Myself and several female friends have been coming to the mountains for the last 15 years every spring. We have stayed at Mtn Laurel Chalets all but 1 year. This year was very relaxing. we shopped, ate and talked til the wee hours of morning. The Highlander was very nice, it was clean, comfortably decorated and contained most of the HOMEY things you miss when away.
Can't wait for next spring.

Perfect vacation getaway. We were there for the mountains and right at the foot of the winding road, was the entrance to the Smokies. If Gatlinburg is what you want, no problems getting into town either. The super close clubhouse was so convenient with little ones. However, we were really disappointment with the lack of recycling in both the homes and the clubhouse. Considering the beauty of the mountains, we hope this oversight is taken care of soon. Otherwise, we'd have no hesitate to use Mountain Laurel Chalets for next year's vacation!

Overall our experience with the office folks and the chalet itself were enjoyable and pleasant. We loved the size and open floor plan in this chalet. The view was highly enjoyed by all. The shower in the main floor bedroom is very dark and could use a light. The beds were very comfortable but you might want to bring your own pillow. The non-functioning ice-maker in the fridge was frustrating. We all would have enjoyed the hot-tub much more had it been on the upper main deck. Also a garbage disposal on the kitchen sink would be an easy welcome improvement. Knocking down a few more cob-webs and a better job of cleaning before guests arrive would make this a 4 or 5 star chalet.

We have been to Gatlinburg many times before, but this was our first stay at The Highlander. It certainly won't be our last.
The chalet community actually has three pools, but one of them is only a quick walk away from The Highlander. There is also a ping pong table at the pool, which our teenager enjoyed immensely, as well as tennis courts.
This vacation home was stocked with everything we needed. It very much felt like "home away from home". The only thing I would suggest bringing are beach towels for the pool and hot tub.

We stayed in this home 4th of July Weekend. This was our second time with Mtn. Laurel Chalets and we HIGHLY recommend them over anyone! Their staff are wonderful, prices good and both homes we have stayed in have been fabulous!
My husband and I came with our 2 kids, my brother and his wife and my parents. The layout of the home was great in that my elder parents were able to take the bedroom on the main level and were able to avoid the stairs. The other 2 bedrooms and a pullout sleeper sofa were in the lower level.
The views were very pretty from the upper balcony! We also had a very entertaining squirrel that came around daily and would come up to the sliding doors and look in.
The location of this home is so close to one of the pools we were able to walk there whenever we wanted and didn't have to worry about a lond windy drive there.
The only (small) concern that we had was the stairs in the home which were extremely steep. It would be nice if they could find a way to make it handicapped accessible, especially since the washer and dryer are on the bottom level. But as I said, that would only be an issue for older or disabled renters.
We would recommend this home to anyone! It was clean, comfortable and in a great location and Mt. Laurel Chalets are the best! We won't rent from anyone else!

We LOVE staying with Mt. Laurel Chalets! It is the only company we trust when visiting Gatlinburg, and every experience, whether with family or by ourselves, has been wonderful! The prices are great, especially when compared to what you spend on a hotel room, and the views are unparalleled! Thank you so much for wonderful memories, Mt. Laurel!!!

This house is just the right size for our family. The number of bathrooms equalling the number of bedrooms is a must for us. The kids enjoyed the pool, and we only had to walk across the street to enjoy it.
I would like to stay there during winter months, but the drive up might be treacherous.
The house was clean and all appliances worked properly. It might be nice to have an electric skillet or a griddle in the kitchen, but otherwise the house was well furnished.
The TVs worked well as did the hot tub.
We look forward to visiting here again.

I booked the Cabin on line, which was quick and easy. My Mother, Cousins and I spent the 4th of July weekend at this cabin. We had a wonderful time. The cabin is very spacious, clean and conveniently located across from the community pool.
The views were great fron the two tier deck. We were able to watch the fireworks from Gatlinbug.
I would highly recommend this cabin. I will definetly stay again soon.
Check out was a breeze! There were no hidden charges which I liked.

Whether renting it as a couple(cozy Master Suite 1st floor) or adding several friends or family(bottom floor-two Suites and a game room), this chalet offers comfort and privacy for everyone. Take the short walk to clubhouse pool and tennis courts or shoot pool right in the chalet. Minutes away from hiking, shopping, golf, shows and fabulous resturants.
