Our experience with Jackson Mountain Homes was superb from beginning to end. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ahh-Some River Lodge was everything we hoped for with plenty of space, a beautiful setting and comfortable, upscale furnishings. It was the perfect distance from town, allowing privacy and access to everything in Gatliburg in a few short minutes. The only entrance to the cabin has multiple stairs.

We absolutely loved the lodge! The house was exactly like the website showed. The view & sound of the river from every room was exceptional. Very close to Gatlinburg, not too far to Pigeon Forge & Sevierville. The service from JMH was great, very friendly & helpful. Parks were closed for gov't shutdown during our stay, was looking forward to Cades Cove. We have nothing but positive memories of our family vacation. Lots of stairs on this property, inside & out. Not a good choice for people with limited walking or climbing abilities.
This is truly an awesome place. We always enjoy our time here.

We enjoyed the days we spent in this home. There are four of us "senior
couples" all from the same church. Most of the evenings we spend playing bridge but during the day we stay outside enjoying the view and the sound of the water.
The problems we experienced with the sewage system did prove to be an inconvenience. Read more

This cabin was the perfect choice for our family! It's already impressive when you pull up, but when my husband and I and our 8 children walked through the door, everyone started exclaiming how great it was. We quickly settled on who would be in which rooms, and no one minded sharing a bed because they were all king size and they hardly even knew anyone was in bed with them! One child slept on the sofa bed in the lower level, and the rooms were plenty large enough to handle the twin air mattress we brought for one of our boys. The kitchen was stocked with all the tools we needed to prepare meals (but I was glad I brought my griddle for Saturday morning pancakes). And the place was cleaner than any hotel room I have stayed in! We enjoyed exploring the river down below, and it was a beautiful 10-15 minute drive into Gatlinburg. Of course we forgot a few things, but there was a Dollar General Store right by the Jackson Mountain Homes office that had almost everything we needed, and a Food
City(?) just beyond that. We used the hot tub once, and the pool table everyday! This was a great experience!

Check in staff very friendly and accomodating. Very nice cabin but needs some work. Carpet needs cleaned or replaced with hardwood. Needs a good cleaning especially under and behind the beds. Very dissapointed that the hot tub was not working properly, basically just a big bathtub, needs repaired or replaced.
The location was about as good as it gets, perfect. Loved the Little Pigeon River which was a blast floating in a tube. Read more

We were a group of 9 - kids and adults. Everyone loved the place! It was very clean and very comfortable. The river is just steps away. The rapids were a little too rough right behind the cabin for fishing, but we were able to walk a trail along the river to a better place. Game room was the best and all 9 of us spent most of our time there when at the cabin. It is secluded but close enough to drive every day to outings/adventures in the gatlinburg area. If we are ever back in the area, we would love to stay here again!

This was our second stay at aah-Some River Lodge, the first time we stayed there it was winter a few years ago, so there were not many leaves on the trees and seeing the "RiverView" was nice. Not so much this time, we could not see anything but trees. This place needs a good cleaning and updating. When we arrived my kids found a spider about the size of a baseball in the bathroom along with a web to match. The whole house had webs in just about every room. The mattresses need to be changed, they are very worn along with the carpet in the bedrooms. Also this is 2013, it's time to get some FlatScreen Tv's, we own beachfront rental property and our management requires things like mattreses be replaced every 4-5yrs and that furnishings are up to date. Not sure why Jackson Mountain Homes isn't doing that also. We had fun in the cabin as we make the best of any situation, it was just disappointing for the amount of money spent for a week at this place to not be up to par still Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Aah-Some River Lodge. We are happy to hear that you did have fun and apologize that you experienced any disappointment. We have scheduled the cabin for a deep cleaning to removed any cobwebs. While we do have each home treated monthly by a professional pest control company, the excessive amount of rainfall, coupled with the hot temperatures has caused an increase in the number of insects we see. Being on the water and the number of trees surrounding the cabin, occasionally a spider or other insect may enter the cabin when a door or window is open. We hope finding a spider did not frighten the kids. We will have the mattresses and carpets assessed for replacement. We will also forward your suggestion for flat screen TVs to the owner. We appreciate your suggestions and your understanding. We hope to see you again soon.

We ere very happy with Jackson Mountain the rental company that rents this property. They were friendly and the home was very clean. We have stayed at this home 3 other times and really enjoyed it, but it had been 5 years since we last stayed here. The house needs some work. The carpets need to be replaced the microwave door handle was not attached on one end and looked as though it had been glued several times, some of the dining room chairs seats were unraveling, the hot water handle in the kitchen kept falling off, there were holes in a few of the pool table pockets. The outside of the house was mildewed and looked like it needed to be pressure washed and stained and varnished the outside furniture as well. This home needs the owners attention. The river was high and fast while we visited. The beds were still comfortable. We were just a little sad to see how the home is a little run down. Read more

This was our 4th year in Gatlinburg and we all agreed that this was our favorite cabin. The roaring river was so relaxing and the set-up was perfect. We would like to recommend that some type of slip resistant grips be placed on the steps and railroad ties. They are incredibly slippery and we had two people in our group fall. Other than that, it was our best visit yet and we are looking forward to next year. Read more

Ahh-some River Lodge was a wonderful house. We had six adults, two teenagers, and two little ones and the house was just the right size for all. The sound of the river outside was so peaceful and soothing. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will definitely rent this house again.
This is the fourth time I have rented from Jackson Mountain Homes and have always been pleased with the homes. The staff are friendly and very accomodating and the homes are always immaculate. Couldn't ask for better!!!

We had 2 families stay for a week and with 6 girls between us this was the perfect home away from home. The floorplan was great. Adults upstairs and kids down. But the best part was hanging out by the river.

Aah-some river lodge is the dream get away, plenty of room, wonderful sounds of the river running past you was one of the things everyone loved. The home was clean and well furnished. This home is in a very good location. The home is just far enough out of town to make you feel like you are out in the country. It will get you away from the quick pace of town. The river makes this home the peceful retreat you are looking for.

Aah-some river lodge was our 3rd stay with Jackson Mountain Homes and they just keep getting better. There were 8 of us
(four couples) and we had a very relaxing week-end, we never left the cabin. The sound of the rushing water was wonderful, if it had been warmer we all agreed it would have been nice to sleep with the windows open. The men folk played pool and watched football. They then decided it would be great fun to have B.J. cover up with the bear rug and hide behind a tree. We all had a good laugh with that rug. The house is beautiful and very nicley decorated. Some information on how to operate the showers would have been nice, thank goodness papa John figure it out after 5 of us ended up taking a splash bath. We plan an staying at ahh-some river again in the future. You will too.

The good and the bad on the river
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011 | Past guest
The good, The cabin was big and comfortable. The river right in front of the cabin was the swiftest part of the river we tubed in which was great. We spent a good part of our vacation in the river so if your looking for a cabin next to the river this one fits the bill. The beds were large and very comfortable so no complaints there. All the bedrooms have large bathrooms and walk in closets. It's also close to the strip in gatlinburg (10 minutes) but not to close. The river is loud which I found to be relaxing. The deck had plenty of chairs and a great view. Perfect for chilling at night or drinking coffee in the morning.
Now the bad, The biggest complaint was with the hot tub.It barely works. They sent out a guy to take a look. Turns out the motor is to small for it. It got plenty hot but didn't really have much power as far as the jets go. This has to be something they know about and don't tell you because it could not be fixed. For the price you would expect the hot tub to work like a hot tub not a hot bath. We have high expectations so maybe we're overly critical but we felt like the cabin could have been perfect with a couple changes in addition to the hot tub. First off, it has lots of tv's but they are old and average size. You would think there could be at least 1 tv in the common area bigger than 30 inches. Every TV had 3 remotes to figure out too. Some instructions with the remotes would have been nice. Every bedroom had a walk in closet with 3 hangers. Really ? Maybe a few extra hangers could be left for guests. What is this a two hanger per person limit? Also we couldn't find a sharp knife in the place. Certainly not in the drawer with the forks and spoons. The pan we wanted to use for dinner was filthy and had to be scrapped and washed. It seemed to be the only one but it did make you wonder. I would recommend the place because of the location , isolation, and size but make sure you get a good price cause it may be ahh some but it's not perfect.

We recently stayed in this wonderful home while on a family vacation. The house was very comfortable and perfectly located on the Little Pigeon River. We were able to fish and swim without leaving home!! The Jackson Mountain Home staff were very accomodating and helpful during our stay and we will definitely return.
