New OrleansOur family enjoyed some good quality time in this cozy mountain
Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in February 2013
5 Star View provided our family with a nice little home away from home for our trip to the Tennessee mountains. It was literally situated at the top of the mountain, which was awesome but also a little bit intimidating for us, since we live in south Louisiana (aka "flatlands"). The views from the cabin were spectacular. We were most impressed by the amount of natural light from the wall of windows that lined the living area on the main level and the high ceilings that made the space seem much bigger. We also loved the hot tub, pool table, air hockey table, foosball table, and the fireplace on the lower level. Our family spent the majority of our cabin time downstairs. We *almost wished* we could have been "snowed in" so that we could spend extra quality time together in the cabin. (Truth be told, though, that I wanted to visit the shopping areas in town, and the kids wanted to visit the entertainment spots.)
The location was perfect because it was between the two towns, and near the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.
We also agreed that the cabin could use some updating. Specifically, newer, better quality mattresses and pillows would have improved our sleep, as the ones provided were not comfortable. And the fake fireplaces in the bedrooms were disappointing.
We had a few maintenance issues:
1.) The downstairs shower drain was clogged and would not drain. Someone came and unclogged it while we were out, however they left a slimy mess in the tub.
2.) Since we couldn't use the lower level shower, my husband showered on the main level. While he was in the shower, water poured from the ceiling into the lower level bedroom, where I was watching TV. Maintenance was called again, and they apologized and said it would need to be addressed after we left, so it was not fixed during our stay.
We would like to visit the Tennessee Mountains again, but I'm not sure if we would stay in the cabin again. -

The cabin was very nice. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Beautiful view, comfortable beds, game tables, and even pizza delivery.

We enjoyed the view and the cabin, although it was quite a drive getting there. Everything was in good shape except the love seat. When I sat on it, it went to the floor. We needed to call a serviceman for the hot tub, and he came soon to make sure it was working.

We enjoyed the view. The home was very nice. Have stayed at many american Patriot cabin rentals. We like the game room and bedroom in the basement area for our teenage son and his friend. We experienced a bear on our porch getting into our garbage the last night there he was a big black bear. We had a wonderful time. Would like to see discounts for repeat customers. Love you're web site. What you see is what you get!

Birmingham, ALview from the cabin was great, no closets, no hooks for clothes,
Left on 10/05/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The cabin had the great view we were wanting and seeing the bear on the front porch was also exciting. The fact that there were no bedroom closets and one tiny hook in one bedroom was ridiculously shortsighted on the part of the owner. It appeared that most of the interior door locks were broken so privacy in the bathrooms was an issue. And there was so much dust on and around the bedding and the floor that it was very disturbing. Also when we came back to the cabin one day there was a maintenance man in the cabin replacing one of the refrigerator doors. We were not notified of this and certainly did not appreciate his being in the cabin without our knowledge. Dealing with the great room television took a scientist. Thankfully my husband is a scientist so he handled that. And the air conditioning for the main and upper floor is not large enough to maintain both floors. it was actually hot upstairs and during the afternoon on the main floor. My brothers and their wives, and my husband and I had a great time sitting on the deck looking at the view but we won't rent this cabin again.

Atlanta, GAOk, but noisy.
Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in December 2009
Our family has an annual renunion and we have rented from american Patriot Getaways for over 5 years. We usually have 2 or 3 cabins to house the 30 + members of the family. We found 5 Star View to be excessively noisey, I guess due to the open loft on the top floor. The particular cabin's basement area with bar and games was alittle small. I did really enjoy the spacious deck and rockig chairs.

The only negative thing was the hot tub was not working properly. The water was low and it would not heat so it was too cold to use. A serviceman came to check it out but it still wouldn't work correctly and he said the owner needed to replace the hot tub.
