We stayed at "Barely Makin it" cabin and it was better than we expected. Remote in the mountains with a great view. We could not ask for a more perfect stay. The coffee maker seized up and they were there immediately, Other than that we wanted for nothing.

The saying is "you only get one chance to make a first impression", this is very much true when it comes to renting a cabin or hotel room. In this case our cabin was very clean and fresh looking. Everything was in working order. We were happy that it had a total of three floors. We traveled with another couple and there were always times when each of us as a couple would want our private space, but still want our friends nearby. This was the perfect fit. We could be playing pool or watching TV, or just outside on one of the decks and then after a while rejoin our friends. We would have no problem renting again from Patriot Getaways.

When we arrived at the cabin it had not been cleaned well. There was dead/alive bugs all over, dusty, spider webs all over, the jetted bath tub when used blew black peaces of what I would call mold into the tub, and the games were broken. The deck railings are unsafe and need replaced along with the deck flooring. The inside of this cabin looks very nice but is not worth the money. We had Patriot Getaways come reclean the cabin which was done very timely and the ladies that cleaned it said "this is one of the dirtiest cabins we've seen, whoever cleans this doesn't do it right". The ladies did a great job cleaning the cabin, but because the front door didn't shut tight we were killing roaches and other bugs all week. I can only assume this is how american Patriot Getaways manages all their cabins and I will not rent through them again.
We drove all the way from Ohio to take a family vacation. It was pretty bad that no one wanted to sit on the furniture, and we had to check beds every night to make sure there wasn't any bugs in them. -

Bearly Making It was great, lots of space, nice views and lots of games for the kids!! Very comfortable and secluded. We visit Gaitlinburg once a year, and have stayed with american Patriot Getaways everytime!! Wont go anywhere else!

We have two boys (8 and 12) and this cabin was perfect for our family. The boys loved the pool table, foos ball table and shuffle board tables as well as the big screen Tv's and outdoor jacuzzi. All of the beds were comfortable and the whole cabin was extremely clean. We can't wait to visit again!

The cabin was awsome! The attendence were great, with their very timely responce, and help. Our only cocern was the very narrow roads, with added weather conditions. We hope to come back next year!

bearly makin it is a very nice cabin in the smokies... lets first talk about the positives... it has a wonderful deck off the upstairs bedroom loft great to watch the sunset although it's thru the trees...very nice game room in the basement nice seating area with a tv and dvd player...nice leather furniture, cedar furniture in the bedrooms... ample kitchen seating as well...
ok for the downsides...
it's located up a twisty tight mountain road... not really a big deal buy just be aware the first time there you most likely will get lost...gps doesn't work either...
The area it's located is called sky harbour, about 10 years ago all the cabins were new, now over the years they all could use some updating, older hot tubs and what not...
My wife and I just love the area, plenty to do. spend as little or as much as you want and you can not get bored... We have stayed in the area 10+ times and we keep finding hidden treasures... Best time to stay in my opinion is fall, cooler less busy and the fall colors are to die for...
Don't be afraid to book, I wouldn't rate it 5 stars but it's sure far from a dump...
be sure to visit cades cove best bet is to go just as it opens plenty of wild life then...Response from American Patriot Getaways - 10/06/2011

Although it was a nice sized rental, there was very little space for turning or parking outside. Additionally the hottub had "entirely" too many chemicals in it to the point that it burned some of the guest. The rails on the top floor deck were very loose, wobbly and unsafe in my opinion. Finally the cleanliness standard that I am used to with american Patriout getaways was not here. The cabin was very dusty, corner's were dirty, the pipes rattled very loudly when you took a shower upstairs and the water pressure was horrible. I would not stay at this cabin again for any price. I have used your company for years, and for the first time you have disappointed me and my family greatly.

This Cabin was great. It was nice like it was home. It was a big place. We loved staying on the mountain. We love coming in the winter and using the hot tub. The only problem we did have with this cabin was the snow and rain coming thru while in the hot tub from the upstairs balcony. I couldn't of asked for a better weekend.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at "Bearly Makin It." the name of the cabin suits it because we barely made it up to the cabin because the roads were so steep and narrow. if we hadnt been in our 4x4 we wouldnt have made it. otherwise we had a wonderful time. we had a bear come visit the last night we were up there, kind of scary but awsome. the staff at PG is amazing we have rented through them for 3 years and will continue to do so. thanks for an amazing weekend!!! the Herolds
